welcome to Haley's world, yes she can SANG!!!! One of the best vocalists alive. This is a master course on vocal techniques, her vocal tool kit is one of the biggest in all musicdom.
one of my favs of hers is her original "I Don't know How to love You" 60's bluesy style. Haley came in 4th....LOL.
She did not win American Idol 10th season. The voting system was her enemy. Unlimited number of votes per household gave first 2 spots to country singers(who?).
Her scatting pays homage to the classics, Ella and Billie.

we wouldn't have the Haley she is now if she had won. she would have been locked in to a contract with a controlling recording company, HaleysTusk has the story of her fight to remain independant and in control of her career.

Unfortunately, he left Interscope to focus on taking BEATS public. Dozens of artists were let go in the managment change, including Haley.
The contestants who made the live shows on American Idol were locked into a management contract with a company tied to one of the show's creators. And it didn't do much for Haley once she was no longer with Interscope. That led to a dead period until the 3-yr mgmt contract expired.

The good thing is Jimmy Iovine/Interscope gave Haley time to produce her debut album. She has co-writing credit on 13/14 songs (there was a deluxe version). Some were used commercially, which generated income from the music publishing rights.
That led her music publisher to agree to produce an EP after she was dropped, which became an LP (her second album) following the success of her "Can't Help Falling in Love" cover.

Two of the three "judges" on "Idol" that year, "Jlo" and Randy Jackson, consistantly tried to sabatoge her participation on the show and yet, she just kept moving on to the finals. Steven Tyler loved her. In the end, it worked and she finished in third place behind two country singers, that almost nobody hears from any more. Never watched the show again.

great reaction loccdwolf. haley reinhart is one the greatest, most unique vocalist of our time. postmodern jukebox (or pmj) takes current popular songs and completely re-imagines them vintage (1920s to 1960s) in the music itself and style of the performances that actually take you back in time. they have a variety of good vocals but haley especially with postmodern jukebox is incredible. all the other haley/pmj ones are great also: "all about the bass", "habits", "black hole sun", "mad world", "seven nations army", "oops i did it again", "lovefool" and the very recent "don't speak".
i think what is so phenomenal about haley is not just her amazing silk to sandpaper voice but also her character and soul that she puts into the performances. even when she uses very little of her unique vocal acrobatics, her pure raw soft voice is amazing like in the intro of "creep". you see this even more in her solo double platinum cover of "can't help falling in love" for the extra gum commercial which is truly stunning and frequently described as what love sounds like here: (th-cam.com/video/_uNpEbt7w_o/w-d-xo.html )
Haley learn how to scan as a child by her father, her father is the musician I'm having his own band years, you would do call and responses vocal sound with Haley cuz she was a child. Haley is the best scat singer today.

PMJ has this song as one of their “show stoppers” in their touring shows. I think Haley was the 2nd guest artist to present this Scott (the pianist)Bradlee composition. Haley’s vid was filmed on one of their off days in Switzerland during their European tour years ago. It’s still part of their recent tour as they are a touring live show,and the guest artist in this vid is Effie Passero and notice how Scott adapts the song to the artist performing it. Effie totally nails her version. Probably best to react to this version as long as Haley’s is still fresh for your ears as your listeners and you will appreciate it..Enjoy.......

I totally agree about the voting system on American Idol. It has been proven that is everyone has had one vote each, Haley what a one running away. This is why I don't like you showed and I think it's bad for people's careers. I've seen so many great singers have their career destroyed because they didn't win but they were way better

Nonetheless, Haley Reinhart is by far the best vocalist to have ever performed with Postmodern Jukebox (PMJ). As prior to her arrival, PMJ only played tiny venues and cheap dives. Then after Haley arrived on the scene and quickly recorded several music videos with them that all went viral, suddenly PMJ found themselves filling up Arenas and Coliseums.
