    Thank you so much. I've been following everything Madison does since I encountered her on Chris Thile's radio show, and in addition to the music have been trying to find out more about who she is. My whole life I've been interested in hearing creative people talk about their work. (I'm a former composer myself.) Madison is the best songwriter/singer/guitarist of the current generation, and the word is rapidly spreading.

    Saw her in 2018 opening for the Punch Brothers. Just her in a blue dress, a jazzmaster, and an amp. I had not a clue who she was. I was in tears 10 minutes later and I'll never forget that.

    I love how she's assimilated her influences into her own personal style and approach. I'm hearing Thom Yorke/Radiohead, Rufus Wainwright, Joni, etc. Beautiful music!!

    To me she's a cross between Joni Mitchell, Jeff Buckley a bit of Thom Yorke and Elton John melodic sense. Thank you for geeking out on her music with her. I love hearing about theory and songwriting. She is very special. I want her to get a lot more attention. Thank you for interviewing her!

    Madi talking about Joni was already bringing a tear to my eye - this kid gets it! But then the debut of "Inventing the Wheel" at 36:00... Wow! The purity of her talent just breaks my heart in the best way. ❤

    Such inspiring creative process. Your level of preparation for your interviews always is so amazing, Pablo.
    Also, I hope Madison listened to your music after this!

    This was *SUCH* a great interview. I just recently discovered Madison and have become infatuated with her music. I literally was thinking about how much I'd like to interview her, then the next time I checked TH-cam, your video was in my recommendations. YT read my mind! 🤯😊
    Madison's music sounds so intelligent _and_ so intuitive to me -- a rare combination (the new song she played, "Inventing The Wheel", is a wonderful blend of those things). What's great about your interview is that it helped reveal(er 😁) that intelligence and intuition via her verbal communication as well. Great job, and I'll be looking at your other interviews. Keep up the great work!

    Isn't it so, that voice and the essence of what a guitar sounds and connects to rhythm, is the source of her immense creativity? So, like the silent vulcano joni mitchell has given to us. And the guitar possibilities drive the way at core. For me only guitar can combine with voice like this.

    • @BenCDaugherty
      @BenCDaugherty 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Dissonance is like dynamics! You can do something super soft and weird, but then when it goes heavy and loud, it makes it that much more impactful!

    I think Judee Sill's "The Donor" is her greatest track, by far - but nearly impossible to cover well. She herself was probably the reason for her failures - she caused her own downfall.
