I'm sure you're not allowed to pet them, but something about the way their coats look makes me want to see what they feel like. The adult plumage is probably really slick for the water.
16:00 Incidentally, some record-hunting penguins are struck down by the extreme latitude. It is rather insignificant whether the affected penguins are "flat earth penguins". The azimuth angle and in some cases the gliding tendency of the entered terrain on which the tailcoat bird slipped away is more essential 🐧⛷.
I have to admit that I was very curious about a few instances of the video that I saw. From all of my readings, documentaries and basic research I've done on the various penguin species, I know for certain that Emperor Penguins only lay one (1) egg during the breeding season. If a chick loses one or both parents during this time, especially early in the season (when both parents must take turns eating/fishing..one parent feeds while the other parent stays back and watches over the chick.), they become an orphan. It's been well-documented that parents with a chick will not entertain the idea of even remotely tending to another's chick, let alone feed one as their one and only goal is the survival of their own chick. They will immediately shoo away the orphan chick, and may even get downright violent with said chick to convey the message that the chick is not wanted in their vicinity. In this video, during multiple parts, I viewed what looked like a parent entertaining two chicks. I did not actually see one adult feed two separate chicks, but I definitely saw what looked like the same adult providing general protection/security to two separate chicks. Did anyone else notice this? It was really interesting to me, and I'm really wondering if I saw what I think I saw.
Thank you for the comment and interesting observation. Once the chicks are big enough to form creches I think it is normal for one or a few adults to oversee an entire creche. I'm not sure about an adult and two individual chicks but that doesn't really surprise me, as long as its not about being fed. As far as I know you are correct that an adult will only feed his/her own chick. Its amazing how they find each other by the calls in that noisy colony, and the chicks move around so much!

The adults go out to sea frequently to eat fish and krill and bring back food for the chicks. The colony is on sea ice and they walk back and forth between the edge of the ice to go into the water and the colony. Its only in the winter that the males do not eat while incubating the eggs.
@@bvsd4396 It would be bad for them to be petted and have human contact. It wouldn't be an immediate danger, more of an issue of losing being wild. It would also certainly ruin the experience of everyone on the trip who is there to observe them going about their natural activities.
@@bvsd4396 The birds themselves have no smell that I noticed. Of course I didn't stick my nose right up against any. In walking around near the colony some places had a bit of a guano smell where many have been pooping on the ice.
Certain birds arent for eating like geese. They taste terrible and have so much fat. Penguin I imagine would be along those lines. Probably tastes awful. Chicken and turkey are good birds to eat.
From chicks to adults they are beautiful creatures they’re also inquisitive and unafraid of people ❤️
Omg how cute the little ones falling while they’re walking!! And the little one cruising on his back like mama and papa
I love these birds! The sounds the adults make is fascinating! Thanks for sharing!🥰
Wonderful video!! I enjoyed every moment of your journey. Thank you for sharing it with us! 🐧💕
Beautiful birds, someday I'd like to visit too.
Thank you SO MUCH for sharing a most remarkable journey. One, that most of us can only dream of taking. So very special.🥰
Great video of this super trip.
omg ...... really peaceful. ... and lovely

How cute is that.

Thank you for the nice video.
Thanks for sharing! Great video!

No, it doesn’t really break the food chain. There are more algae under the ice than in that one scene.

Son hermosos y sobretodo los pequeños.
Are you allowed to hug the penguins or at least touch them?. Btw really nice job I love it!!
Thanks. Absolutely cannot touch them. Sometimes was very hard to resist but they are wild and must remain that way.
@@InSearchofWildlife yeah, it would be hard for me to resist touching them too especially the chicks.. they’re all so cute 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you for sharing
Good view. Just wondering how is the smell like at the colony? Do they stink?
The smell wasn't bad, these are not stinky penguins.
@@InSearchofWildlife thanks
Amazing what you see when you did not bring your gun with you
What do the adults eat? They probably have not eaten anything for months, how can they still regurgitate food?

they send their chicks to school lol
Noooo 😫
Is human touch forbidden ?
Absolutely! They are wild and need to stay that way.
@@InSearchofWildlife is it dangerous to them or to the humans?

What temperature was there? I want to see this little fluffy birds on their natural habitat💙
We had great weather, sunny, no wind, and relatively warm. I didn't check a thermometer but would guess temps in the 30's F.

This would be a perfect spot for polar bears to come hunting plenty of food here...
Would be except that polar bears are only in the Arctic in the northern hemisphere and penguins are only in the southern hemisphere.
No breaking the ice, that's sad

Where can I buy your's meat?
People used to eat penguin eggs. That was a long time ago. 100 or so years ago.
