Hate to be that guy but a 12 gauge and a 20 gauge are just as powerful, the difference is that the 12 will throw more lead at the target. If you compare a number 6 load, 12 vs 20 they throw the shot the same velocity, its just that there is less of it in a 20
Choke also has a lot to play as well, Paul Harrell has a good video on 20 guages

it looks like the barrel on the 12ga is a good bit longer than on the 20 so it would generate more power . this comparison really should be made with all other things being equal though i dont know if its really that big a difference or not. I guess it depends on what loads you are using.
