    Ah, my very favorite piece of equipment. Sorry, there wasn't more gravel for you to work with on that little job. They could've paved that lane and it still wouldn't last with that base. Talk about doing it on the cheap. I spent a summer working for the county driving a dump truck at first and running the grader after a while on the smallest of roads. The Best paying summer job and the most fun an 18-year-old can have. All summer on a ranch comes in a close second. It is just a shame that so many people don't know the good feeling you get from a job well done. Your videos are much appreciated, thank you.

    Man, this brings back memories. I ran heavy equipment as a member of the USMC Reserves, its been 20 years since I was on a grader. It was one of my favorites to run. We had Cat 130 G's. My second favorite was the 621 B scrapers. Loved those days of moving dirt. Thanks for making the video that brought back all those memories.

    Gates and LOCKS are to keep the HONEST out.😊 Always beautiful to see that landscape with those mountains in the background.

    Jeff, gate: my first thought would be to counterweight it and add a wheel if it needs it. Have the gate spin around the pole instead of off one side. Hope that makes sense.

    @kevingreene6335 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Had the same thought as Josiah ,Jeff, get hold of some pipe inside diameter touch bigger than outside diameter of the gate post, weld lower sleeve (only the underside)near to bottom of post,place second sleeve on top of welded sleeve,weld another sleeve (underside only) near to top of post leaving space at top of post for another sleeve, weld diagonal brace to lower moveable sleeve ,weld horizontal box section to top moveable sleeve , weld diagonal brace and box, place vertical struts between diagonal and horizontal. Jeff, when you speak about the mud coming up through the gravel they call it "migration", we have problems here in New England with that on our dirt roads. Its so nice to see an operator that knows how to crown a road. I argued with contractors on the timber tract I managed to get them to put a proper crown for years before finding a guy that really knew how to do it right.

    That sure was a fancy entrance at that place.I can see one like it at your place with Paydirtarosa across the top.Give your gate plenty of support to keep it from sagging when opening and closing.Sagging that happens with other things if they are not supported correctly.

    I suggested you pour an anchor back off the main post to guy off to, seems you went conventional 2 post there, though I've got no doubt most of that truck of concrete and the better part of 40' of pipe are down those holes, I'll be watching the sag-o-meter. Hope you're going electric closer or you'll never close that monster behind you, even if it doesn't sag in the 1st month every pound heavier it is, the less you're going to feel like getting out to close it.
    Glad to see you're working, even if it's dressing up driveways. Love learning about the grader.

    I'm thinking you might be on the cheap side of that fancy entrance, I'd be guessing $40,000. And I know for a fact that you can build a gate with that span, if I can build one that's 30 feet across you should be able to do one that's 90 feet across right.... Thanks for taking us along on the blading, and that's exactly how I've built long driveways.

    The folks saying you can't build a gate that long are probably living somewhere with really soft ground. I grew up near Blackfoot, moved to western washington. The difference in how hard the ground is blew my mind. We could use a single railroad tie for a corner post in Blackfoot...up here, if you want the fence to stay tight, you have to engineer the bejeepers out of the corners! Same with gate posts. Up here, a 12 foot gate is about the best you can do without making the post tall and adding a chain from the top to the end of the gate. I guess SE Idaho hard pan has 1 use! lol

    New grader would've used more fuel and had a software bug and used DEF and done a stinky filter burn and or shut down for a clogged particulate filter. Way better to let the smoke out the first time the fuel gets burned
