Driving in highest gear / low rps = low milage is a B I G missconception. You will not only be not as economical as possible, but will also wear out your engine, gearbox prematurely. Tests done with golf 1.9 tdi, and tiguan 2.0 tdi. Golf 1.9 tdi, 5 speed manual, driven by my wife, low rpm, highest gear, always prematurely upshifting, no hard accelerations, no more than 90km/h, no overtakes. Fuel consumption over 900 km of 5.7 litres/100km My driving. Always keeping at around or above 2k rpm., overtaking and driving at min 100 km/h, same distance= 5.4l/100km Tiguan=father in law, same driving style as my wife, his consumption was 6.1l/100km (4x4 version 6 speed manual) After I took over and driven 140km, with my driving style, i was able to get a 5.5 consumption. Flat land no hills or mountains, no real elevation changes, and no influence by the weather. And our golf already had engine rebuild done because it was driven "economically" and "non-agressively". Remember. If diesel, then 2k rpm, if benzin, then 3k (although the benzin engine does not have to rev higher than the diesel one. It just lacks torque down low and hp as well). One other thing is higher speed = more consumption in reality doesn't hold up. Highway driving, my wife 100-110 km/h, and me constantly 130-135km/h and the consumption was 5.6l/100km for both of us. It matters more how you hold your foot on the gas pedal (if it is constant vs always pumping) than your actual speed.
what’s the point of this? like obviously it’s not gonna be a crazy mileage when cruising at 110kmh at 9th gear, try driving it through a city with traffic jams for 100km
Please stop fooling the younger generation in thinking such an engine can be as economical as any smaller one. This way of driving is the sweet spot of any ICE. If you drive any smaller engine exactly like this it will use way less fuel aswel.
I don’t see how 8.1L/100km fuel usage is a good value while driving in 9th gear the whole time… I don’t wanna lose the V8s as well but sometimes you just gotta admit that times are changing and this isn’t the best way anymore to get from point a to point b. I work for Mercedes and I have the most respect for Mercedes even trying to change the economy while downsizing and making driving more environment friendly. And before I get hated I know that Batteries for EVs aren’t produced very environmentally friendly but the difference is made while the car is driven. Depending on where you live and how the energy is produced in your country of course. You can make the same argument that the production of combustion cars are also not environmentally friendly. But no one likes to admit that because car goes brrrrr and vroooom. You can do so much more with EVs and that’s where our future is going so better get used to it or have fun being old head that doesn’t understand the transformation we’re going through as race and planet.
It was 7.5L per 100km, as I have proven. It is the best way to get from point A to B. We will see how electric cars hold up 20 years from now. Tesla is going to be the first car we see as an "oldie" in 5-6 years. I doubt that it will drive as it used to, or even drive at all. They are not good for the environment, as multiple studies have shown. So, while they are fast on straight roads, they lack performance in corners. Where they also fall short is in driving over 140kph for extended periods. Therefore, however we look at the benefits of an electric car, I only see it being useful for short trips and city driving; in any other aspect, an electric car loses to a petrol-engined car.
That's kinda silly keeping in mind average MB driver would put that much efforts into saving the way you did. Impractical for sure. As far as Tesla is considered it eats your MB for lunch in Speed and Acceleration even if your MB is stage 37 tuned. Plus Tesla has no maintenance like the MB and BMW junk has blowing engines transmissions and tons of moving parts. Go back to school man 😂
It's silly the way you think. You can't compare these junk ICEs with top tier Tesla Model S. It's not about driving cars stooge its about knowing what is what@@azizdrives
@aryub5851 you can't compare performance ICE car like the E63s with a model S. Come on man Ev vs v8 it's not even in the same league. And putting tesla and top tier in the same sentence show that you don't know what top tier is. Have you ever been in a tesla? It's just cheap power. Soulless and dead. Have you ever done long trips in an EV? It's a luxury to be able to fill petrol compared to charging. Have you done over 70 mph in the highway the wind noise is insane no comfort or luxury at all. Sure tesla is great if you drive short distances in city and don't drive over 60 mph or 100km/h but that's about it. It's the economical choice but if you buy cars based on economy you need to get your money up. If you have great income and investments of course you buy a good ICE vehicle. Maybe not an e63s as it's not as high quality and squeaks and rattles like the tesla. But maybe a Porsche or f90 m5 comp.
