I was 15 years old in 1977 when I heard "Did You No Wrong" for the very first time. I already had the "Anarchy In The UK" single and was loving it - a game changer for me. So I put the "God Save The Queen" single on but accidentally played the B-side "Did You No Wrong". Instant K.O.! I had never heard a more raw rock 'n roll record in my life! Johnny's vocals, the perfect groove/pocket by Paul and Steve's bombastic guitar sound. Just bloody perfect! I must have played it 20 times before I flipped the 45 and played the (also) amazing a-side. From that moment on "Did You No Wrong" has always been on my Top 3 list of the greatest rock 'n roll songs ever...
Brilliant tune! I will never forget hearing it for the first time in 1978 aged 13 when I had played my single 'God Save The Queen' for the first time in my bedroom and heard my Dad (ex Royal Navy, staunch Royalist) coming upstairs, so I quickly flipped it and played this ! Dad Popped his head round the door and said "Who's This'? Whilst nodding his head in approval ! That band I told you about I replied ! I taught myself how to play the basic rhythm on guitar by constantly stopping the record and replaying it until I hit the right notes, and transformed them into chords via 'Burt Weedon's play in a day' which I still own. I still play the basic rhythm even on acoustic, but the little colours and nuances that Steve Jones brought to the song are a little more challenging. It always sounds great this tune when the band play it, but a song writing credit should have gone to 'Wally Nightingale' (RIP) The forgotten Sex Pistol! dx
Still sends tingles down the spine all these years later. To think this was a 'B' side and never even made it onto the bollocks album. One of their best tracks. No wonder Guns 'n Roses covered it. They obviously have taste.
@UCNkTsNPF9GM7W3uKod6bH2Q MATLOCK TOLD ME THAT JONES ORIGINALLY CO-WROTE IT WITH WALLY. Jones' lyrics to the latter song were subsequently rewritten by John Lydon in 1977, but Nightingale's musical arrangement remained unchanged, Performing Rights societies databases recognise Nightingale as the song's co-author, with Cook, Jones, Lydon and Matlock. IT'S A PERSONAL FAVE OF MINE. AWESOME GUITAR RIFF, GREAT DRUMMING, TAUNTING VOCALS AND LYRICS. GREAT RHYTHMIC ROCK SONG, IT SWAGGERS
@@danhickey5707 Mate, I'm a massive Bon Scott supporter, saw early AC/DC in Sydney in mid- late 70's. At a gig Bon said " G'day mate" and then he roughed up my mass of long blonde hair. That was 1975/76 and I haven't washed my hair since!!!!!!!! Though I can't hear any resemblance between AC/DC and this Sex Pistols tune at all. I still can't hear the similarities of MY SWEET LORD & HE'S SO FINE, which George Harrison was sued for plagiarism. great SEX PISTOLS song, incredibly only single b-side and not present on NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS but available in the FLOGGING A DEAD HORSE compilation (later in the other compilation KISS THIS )...
And the video montage here is awesome it fully captures the energy. A fan since I was 12. After the fact. I was only 4 when Bollocks came out. But my parents had the album. Yes they did. I would have loved to see them live at the time. But this song and video are great. I thumbed up your comment:)

Of course the A&M original single release of God save the Queen had No feelings on the ‘B’ side 😃🇬🇧🍺 but we all know that
I love them as The Ramcid
This is the coolest number of this band's songs. I love!🤩
one of their best song
Pretty underated aswel
It's shame Wally Nightingale, who wrote most of the song, never got the credit for it
.
@@jlcrproductions301 "under-rated" is such a meaningless word.

Great tune, Steve's guitar playing is great. 🎸🎤🧷✌️
The guitar solos in this are more essential than oxygen
This tune makes me want to learn how to play Guitar and I'm 61.
Never too late to start.
Just take a guitar and play! Its never late to learn! Dont be afraid! You will no regret!
Take a cheap guitar, your rusty fingers, and you did it no wrong
Play it! Pistols songs are so easy and fun to play!
LOL... I am 60 and can play it...
I love it

Sanity is overrated.
And this song is insanely underrated.
Good job.
No frontman on earth could do better justice to this than Johnny.
He is like the cherry on the cake
Awesome track.why I love the pistols till the day I die.

Written by Wally Nightingale.
Believe-it-or-else: there was a rumor that Wally Nightingale and Elvis Costello were the SAME PERSON! And rumored that Costello co-wrote this song!
Big deal,dead junkie.
@@l.salisbury1253it was only a rumour
Sounds less punk and more mainstream '70s hard rock. A great song.
Totally agree...kinda reminds me of Bon Scott era AC/DC. Rocking tune!

What version is this? Immeasurably sicker than the album cut.

As good as the A side.
Better, IMHO.
