    What am i going to do if we get the population of all college students in private colleges but we’re just going to get 3 private colleges, how can we get the population in those 3 private colleges? *unknown population not the sample size.

      Hi,
      Let me explain, this video tutorial is related to calculation of sample size not the population size. Population size is not estimated it should be counted. This data can be obtained from the institution.

      @@InstituteTrainingServices there is 49,796 students in this one city, how can we get the 3 sample size if in our study we should get 3 institutions.

      Basically you are facing two situations. The first population is institutions, and obviously that cannot equal to 49 thousand. So, you have to select randomly three institutions first using any random method. Then, you need to calculate sample size using formula explained above, or there is another video related to known population. Once you get sample size, allocate this sample size to these institutions. You again need to use random sampling methods to get information from the students in these institutions

      Remember in mind, you are interested to generalise findings related to students, not institutions. Therefore, estimation of sample size for institutions is not necessary. That you can pick based on your convenience.

    Hello, Sir, this video has helped me out a lot when I was so lost and confused. If someone conducts the study in OPD of a tertiary care hospital, then what should they use as their P value, considering it's a cross-sectional descriptive study regarding knowledge of a specific disease in general population. Waiting for your answer eagerly, thank you!
    Additional Note: there is no such study previously in the area so we can't refer to previous studies.

      Hi thanks for your detailed comment. If there is no any value available previously then use 0.50

    I conducted my pilot survey, how can I get this P? proportion. When All I have are likert scale

    • @InstituteTrainingServices
      @InstituteTrainingServices  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      P is basically the probability of success if interpret it in other way. For instance your survey objective is to find out solution for a particular problem. Then the average from your pilot study would be P. Let say if you are studying a particular diseas its factors then the number people out of the total having that particular disease would be your P

      Hlo, I completed my pilot study of 50 respondent. Population is unknown. I want to compute sample size through all squre of (zs/e). How we compute s? Sample standard deviation?

      Usually, we can change it but given that there would be source like we have taken this P from previous studies if we are not using our own estiamted one

    Why go to so much effort to make the video and then stick on a poor quality narration?
