Poor Osheen. I know the lady loves her dearly but no wild animals should be kept as pets. Kudos to her sending her to Monkey world. Anyone here watch Orangutan jungle school? I’ve fallen in love with orangutans and hopefully going to volunteer there as soon as they open back up to having outsiders again.

My heart does go out to the lady that was mothering the Orangutan is S. Africa. I'm sure that she cried her eyes out once she was taken to the airport. I know that if I was in her place, I'd be horribly upset after 13 years. But she has to give the Orangutan away to Monkey World and even though I have compassion towards that lady's predicament, people should never keep animals that are not the domesticated type as pets. Great episode!
Mothering...that monkey was abused. You should have seen her "show". Awful, just awful...if and since the animal WILL est everything she can get her hands on then DONT ALLOW HER TO GET HER HANDS ON ANYTHING BUT GOOD, NUTRITIOUS FOOD...it's that simple. She was loving this poor obese thing TO DEATH.

My day has gotten 100 x better since I've had my monkey fix. I can only imagine how much it hurt that lady to say goodbye. It's years later n jus seein her get n the crate made me get teary eyed. Jeremy is so amazin the way he gets along with all the primates, they are lucky to have him n their lives n vice versa.

That lady destroyed the orangs life. It weighs as much as 3 other orangs. She has DESTROYED that things life. It is mentally scarred as well as you see in later episodes. Osheen instead of being an orang she is stuck with the baby orangs like a fat human child. its disgusting.
The orangutan baby trade is very sad. Humans love them while they are little, spoil them and over feed them. Then they mature and get huge and fat and no longer fit for human residences, but they have no orangutan social skills or survival skills. Brenda seems like a warm loving person but she ultimately was very cruel to Osheen and did her no favors.
Dr. Allison is very respectful of Brenda. Thats very kind. She treated her very well.
Yes, I definitely agree that Allison handled that like a respectable woman! I could not do that! I would be so angry with Brenda. She says that she loves Osheen but look at what she has done to a beautiful animal. Possibly creating multiple health problems for the rest of her life, hopefully it is a long life! Not to mention the personality problems that she still has to this day! But I'm very happy that Brenda realized that the best thing to do was to call Monkey World!
After raising her from a baby ...that had to be so hard for her to give her up....Even though it was the right thing to do.... It broke my heart.....
Personal question for Jeremy: how did you lose the tip of your finger? I am in awe of your relationships with the apes and monkeys - the Orangutans in particular. I volunteered with a small primate rescue, caring for the lemurs, macaques and spider monkeys. I had a soft spot for the single Orangutan and would bring him treats, berries, fruit and, occasionally, a fig newton. His solitude and habitat broke my heart.

So proud of letting that poor monkey become dangerously obese, out of control and unable to interact with other monkeys because she was encouraged to imprint on humans. Big smiles all around.

Yeah, it was very sad to see. Oh by the way, Orangutans are Great Apes as are gorillas and chimps. Monkeys have tails, Great Apes don't.

They are so careful about anesthesia. I’m very happy to always hear about their precautions. As a person who has reacted badly several times in surgery from anesthesia. My heart and breathing stoped after a simple out patient surgery. And I ended up in ICU on a vent and in a medical coma for 6 days. .
That's so scary. Youu never know how anyone will react .

I wonder often if Brenda has either 1: been back to monkey world to see oshine, or 2: or if she's even still living because this was quite awhile back. I imagine it would've been hard for Brenda to go back years later, because you know oshine would absolutely remember her.
I'm sure at the very least Allison sends Brenda updates regularly.

She had a beautiful set up for her as well. Yeah she fed her too many goodies but you saw her, the orangutan literally helps herself to the snacks. 😂

The obese orang is one of the saddest things I have ever seen. Though this woman thought she was taking such good care of her treating her like a human but in reality it’s the total opposite. This animal has in fact been abused for the last 13 years. It breaks my heart💔💔💔💔

lol right.. "They're my employees that I'm the boss of but gosh they just keep over-feeding her and I can't stop them!" But she seemed like a good lady overall and she clearly loved Osheen dearly, enough to realize that it was in Osheen's best interests to give her up.

Many many years ago when I worked with primates at a zoo we used to paint the inside back of the traveling cage/box with jam or jelly (now they make fruit spread, which is probably healthier because it has less sugars in it). We would just paint the rear of the crate with enough they could get off in 5 or 10 minutes to get them used to the crate. We would paint almost the entire back of the crate with grape jelly on the on the day we were going to move them, knowing it would take them at least a half hour to lick that off. Then we would sprinkle dried raisins and some grapes in the bottom of the crate under the hay we used to put in the bottom of the crates as a soft bed for travel. The day of travel they couldn’t get into the crate fast enough to get the jelly on the back wall. We also found that introducing one monkey to another, or even a youngster to a group of other youngsters that a little jelly on their fingers or toes helps the introductions go very well, and so much easier than with using nothing at all.

I am a serious thorn in their side on the pet monkey posts. I get accused of being evil and nasty. My constant No monkeys should be pets!!! Is not well received by some people who profess to “love all animals especially monkeys”. Im livid by some of the comments. So many “ I want a baby monkey to hold and cuddle”. So I spot off about how awful the exotic animal trade is and the animals that die because of the demand for baby monkeys. And other wild animals.

Im glad she gave the orangutan to Alison and her team but what about all the other wild animals she has at her house? Its not fair that they are living their captive. I cannot believe how obese she is. But she will be a real orangutan once she gets to Monkey world.

All you have to do is look at the incidents of so many people who have tried to raise chimpanzees as a human child and keep them that way. When they reach adolescence they're extremely dangerous, sometimes fatally to their owners. Orangs may not be as aggressive by nature as chimps, but they're nearly as strong. Add to isolation from their own kind, being spoiled and catered to, they lose respect and turn on people.

Please, can someone help me find the proper Thailand officials that will rescue infant macaques from abusive TH-cam channels located in Thailand. One of the most abusive channels is Monkey Jully and Monkey Dedo (two channels but one owner). These people are responsible for the deaths of two infants in their care in less than two months. The videos of their deaths are proudly displayed on their channels. They have closed down the Comments on all their videos. I will contact the officials but I need to find out who they are. Thank you.

Apparently, the Indonesians are too busy decimating the Orang's habitat for palm oil. Obviously, they could care less.
How can people feel sorry for an animal abuser? She could have fed her healthy, appropriate food instead of "quick and easy!" The poor girl will mentally have problems not to mention seperation anxiety ( which is completely the owners fault).
She saved its life. Until quite recently the safari parks here sold orangutans to anybody. Once they got to old to be cute/sellable they tossed them in a lake and went and got another one. I guess you would have preferred it to drown.

I understand that she thought she was doing the right thing BUT abuse is also characterized not providing healthy eating options. Her obesity can be life threatening and could have been prevented by feeding her nutritous alternatives AND saying NO! Her life was even at risk traveling because of her obesity!

Better life there than being stuck inside of a cage or chained to a post all the time by someone who didn't care. While it isn't right to keep a wild animal as a pet, she had a wonderful life with Brenda and in the end and before it was too late, she made the best decision for the orangutan

The amount of resources that have been spent on this endeavor is ridiculous. This is an animal who has been abused her whole life. Yes, abused. To be raised as a human was cruel. This served the owner’s needs not the orangutan. Children are starving and neglected and this is a priority. Sorry, but we need to adjust our way of dealing with these situations.
This show makes me smile when nothing else does.
