    The locking hands penalty is still confusing to me.

      I know, it was to me at first. It’s to prevent choking/constricting or unnecessary roughness. For example, a half nelson is 1 arms force. A full however is all arms force, so when breaking down in ref position, you get them down, you switch to the side of your nelson, you drive them onto their back, accidentally use too much force because all of your arm force, you give them a bloody nose while moving them, blood clock starts, illegal nelson, you get technical violation, and you hurt someone. You gave them a point on accident.

    So locked hands is only a violation 1) if they're on the ground and 2) it's done by the wrestler in control?

    When was this rule put in place? From what I remember you could lock hands when I used to wrestle just as long as it’s not only the head alone and only when an arm is in was locking hands on a head was legal but everything else like the body or legs were legal. Making locking hands illegal completely must make wrestling so much harder

      That’s what I was think

      @@v1a7 I really don’t recall the locked hands rule. I always thought you could only lock as long as you don’t have the neck but head and neck is ok to lock hands as well as the body but maybe im not recalling correctly

      I’ve been involved in wrestling for over 30 years, and locking hands, around the body, while on the ground, has always been illegal

      I remember locking hands that's why I still do double leg take downs ... But a single leg / out side single leg technically maybe seems it could be locking hands at least the way I did it but also my hands were never locking so . The joining and locking wouldn't be because as I shoot single my hands may loosen re attach to anckle maybe be stretched out one handed till I can suck back in and perhaps turn the single when I back in to a double leg.

      Tell your wrestling crew to watch the vids as well.... my goal is to grow the sport and make everybody involved smarter.

    they should add clasping to mma, dominate wrestlers are just adding clasping to their game with a little bit of boxing to dominate mma.

    Big question, for all of those wrestlers who may or may not do this in the future to reset position. Is it considered fleeing the mat if the bottom wrestler stands up, puts their hips out to escape, and the top wrestler guides them out of the circle by trying to keep their hips close. Can the top wrestler be hit with fleeing the mat if they drive their opponent out of bounds to reset position in that type of action?

    • @Revenance115
      @Revenance115 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well if the top wrestler is pushing you out of the map, the bottom wrestle MUST NOTICEABLEY show or put effort of CIRCLING IN the mat (not out). If the bottom is showing effort to keep inside mat, the top wrestler would show that they are pushing out of the mat, yes they can be punished by a stall/flee warning.

    I was not a particularly good wrestler but in my high school I don’t ever remember being called or having an opponent being called for locking hands. Does that make cradles or 3/4 Nelson illegal? I think I am misunderstanding

    Could you go over choice of position? New ref here. So at the start of a duel you flip the disk with the captains and then what? do you still flip the disk after period 1 or is the choice of position already determined? I was a t team rotational and some of the referees had a red and green brick on the table with the weight classes. He said all he does is look at that and that tells him who has choice. I don't understand, can you help?

    • @AlexGreenDifferentBreed
      @AlexGreenDifferentBreed  ปีที่แล้ว

      After you flip the disk before the dual, you ask the captains of the winning color, do they want the Odd choice or Even choice.
      Meaning the Odd numbered bouts.... 1, 3, 5, 7 ,9, 11 & 13 will have three choice in the 2nd period. The Even numbered bouts will go to the other team for the choice in the 2nd period.

      @@AlexGreenDifferentBreed where do you get one of those red and green bricks? I looked online and can't find them anywhere? Oh thanks for explaining that I understand now. Maybe you can do a video on that whole procedure from draw bag to flip of disk, etc. Thanks again.

    • @AlexGreenDifferentBreed
      @AlexGreenDifferentBreed  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a video using the random draw bag....it's in the Weigh-ins procedures video.
      Unless your state association has adopted it, the brick is not used in high school wrestling

      No, poking eyes is illegal. If the refferee see it anyways. If he's looking away, go for it.

    Whu do these kid wear these singlets - realy 1920's bathing suits, for anyway? The head gear is obvious in case of hitting ears on the floor or someone grabbing them Wouldn't spandex - or what ever material is used - for trunks be as effective?
