Dude I was running a stall team yesterday and dondozo died to an enemy tinkaton with electric terablast because I forgot they had mold breaker to ignore unaware, I was hyped even tho it was me losing cause I never thought tinkaton would be good. Really cool mon.

People often forget that that swellow, a pokemon with 75 special attack, made boomburst work and dominated the lower tiers, so a move thats has a higher base power on tinkaton is still going to be dangerous despite the 75 attack
Choice specs scrappy Swellow with boomburst, Hurricane / air slash, heat wave, and u turn goes brrrrrr. I almost always use him for mono normal teams.
Yes, but swellow used specs, tinki can not use band, or at least not properly and has by far less speed
@@fredward_3713 yes but that has nothing to do with my comment lol. I used Tinkaton for my playthrough i just finished this morning. She was busted with Gigaton Hammer. I was just pointing out how great special Swellow can be and how it catches many people off guard.
at a certain point it was even base 50.

I really like Tinkaton, but man those stats... It really feels like they were trying everything in their power to not make Zacian 2.0

I think having one super powerful move and the rest being kinda weak is a more interesting way to do a mon than most. It certainly makes Tinkaton stand out more than a lot of pokemon this gen.
@@shanelloyd853 would be a boon for sure. If Mega Mawile is any indication, it wouldn't be the most broken thing ever. Even Steelworker as a HA would be good and make some sense.
@@TheMirksta While that's true, the rest of their moveset really doesn't support it. Tinkaton would be great if they had a support moveset on top of Gigaton Hammer, something like Follow Me, Endeavor, or even Wide Guard at the very least.

My favorite new move. When people say Tinkaton is bad, they just haven't clicked Gigaton Hammer enough.

@@DaiQilin The thing is though a 160BP move with 75 attack is more powerful than an 80BP move from 150 attack so it's way more powerful than the attack stat shows. It hurts the coverage a lot but in terms of steel stab Tinkaton is basically as good as it gets.

@@TheMirksta This is correct. A 160 BP move with base 75 attack is equivalent to an 80 BP move with base 199 attack, NOT 150 as a lot of people are mistakenly thinking. The reason is because IVs and EVs are additive not multiplicative. For anyone who is still skeptical, just plug the numbers I gave into the damage calc. You can even take away the EVs/IVs to see that it then does become equivalent to base 150 attack.
@@DaiQilin 160 base 100 accuracy. Downside is barely a downside. Signature mave is on fairy/steel, one of the most defensive typings there is. What more you want man?
gamefreak has done a really good job making pokemon viable recently. Like normally they would introduce a really cool move but give it to a pokemon with awful abilities. But mold breaker fits the stall break niche perfectly for tinkaton. Another example is introducing last respects and giving it to a pokemon with sand rush, which means they can really take advantage of it.
In the past they would introduce cool abilities like stakeout or corrosion and only give them to pokemon who couldnt make use of it (salazzle too frail, gumshoos too slow and poor stats). But now they have given those abilities to mons who can make use of them. Great direction for the game. Sorta powercreep, but a little different. Not just introducing bigger numbers, but better overall mons.
As a blacksmith, I love this mon.

I also love that if you look closely, youcan still see the hammer's previous form inside of each of its evolved stages.
This pokemon's lore is BADASS to top it all off. Corviknight taxis can't exist in paldea because of Tinkatons launching rocks at them when they fly through the air. Also the shiny of Tinkaton doesn't actually change the color of her body, but her hammer instead. The hammer turns a copper color, the same color as a shiny corviknight, implying that shiny tinkaton comes from hunting the steel off shiny corviknight.

Tinkaton was my number 1 mon during my playthrough, you don't notice the 75 as much and Gigaton Hammer is beautiful

I love Tinkaton. I feel like it is similar to araquanid. It doesn’t have the best physical attack stat but it has something that makes it an offensive threat. Gigaton hammer in tinkaton’s case. Araquanid has its ability water bubble. Difference is that araquanid could even be special due to water bubble and previous access to scald. Surf will have to work for now on the special side at least.
Tinkaton is my favorite non-legendary from this Gen.
Just like how Grimmsnarl was in Gen 8.

Gigation Hammer is truly the best move in the game, it's so strong it causes your enemy to forfeit.
I've actually found that lefties is actually a good item for Tinkaton. With its decent bulk and defensive typing, it actually can be pretty resilient vs passive damage/contact(what with all the helmets running around). Against defensive teams, it actually works well, as they rely on chipping you down to check you.
I also put protect on mine, noy many people expect it yet and maybe even substitute might be good im not sure havent tried it but I totally agree with ur leftover statement
4:35, @pokeaimMD, gholdengo's ability makes you immune to all status moves, this includes will-o-wisp and thunder wave. So you could of nasty plotted and set up on this thing.

this might be crazy but I think you're actually intended to substitute salt for nacl. Then it becomes a pun with the word assault. Also makes sense with its prior evolutions: naclstack becomes saltstack and nacli becomes salty.

Everyone complaining about Tinkaton's Atk needs to learn the same lesson I did when I researched Talonflame back in X&Y: The base power of the moves you use is more impactful than the stats using it. Well, that and there's more than just stats to a pokemon.
Does mold breaker really trigger the toxic spikes ability? I feel like that needs some in game testing
Yeah it triggers. Mold breaker specifies abilities "that weaken or prevent damage, stat changes or status changes" Those are ignored by the mold breaker pokemon. Mold breaker for example also doesnt prevent rough skin or iron barbs recoil damage

My fav mon to use is Gorilla Rock Salt with Salt Cure - Iron Defense - Body Press - Recover/Rocks/Protect with Leftovers

That Attack stat may be low but that signature move is crazy
The only thing that could hold back this Pokemon is the low attack stat, and that can be fixed with a single Swords Dance.
Anybody that says Tinkaton is bad has never used it. Between Swords Dance and speed control options such as Bulldoze, Rock Tomb, or Thunder Wave, the thing basically has zero safe switch ins that aren’t Hippowdon or Steelix tier.
And Hippowdon needs to be weary of Ice Hammer coverage.

With how many crazy new mons have dropped Gen 9 Competitive (or at least OU/Ubers) is shaping up to be an absurd generation that'll keep players on their toes. I kinda can't wait to see what all kinds of teams, from offense to stall, will adapt to all the crazy tools flying around.

So how would you calculate the Tera type mechanic and is it true you keep same Stat bonus as if it I'd stab for example if I use dragon move even if I Tera type for example dragonite to steel type ? And how to do it if if is one of the sane typing
You keep your old stab and get a third one. If you Terra to an existing type that type gets 100% stab bonus instead of 50%.

All Tinkaton needs is a support move set. It has passable bulk, even pretty good bulk on the special side. With gigaton hammer you can do a shit ton of damage without having to invest much into attack. A bulkier Tinkaton with gigaton hammer and a good support moveset could be nuts.
I love this Pokémon but was definitely sad it’s stats didn’t match some of the other monster of this gen
I battled a tinkaton today in a mono fairy team and my Skeledirge with will o and Houndstone with fluffy took care of it well lol
Man I used to play a ton of mega mawhile while it was there, and for that reason tinkaton looked like something I would need to play for sure. Gigaton hammer has been a great surprise, the stats a quite sad one, but I guess it does good enough to be played. I don’t expect for it to go particularly high tho, but it’s hard to say now, and I guess we all could be pleasantly surprised

I didn't know Tinkaton got a hyper beam eque move that doesn't make you recharge but rather adds a one turn cooldown to the move.
Hyper Beam and it's clone moves would be soooooo much better if they worked like GH.
Like Tikaton's design, it totally looks like something you'd find in the Kirby universe.

High base power moves are fun to use when they don't turn your pokemon into a punching bag after using them
I was thinking it'd be cool if the recharge moves were changed to work like GH too
Though practically speaking I could see that being utterly broken considering the distribution on some of these moves.
Maybe if *signatures* at least got this treatment, like Roar of Time, Eternabeam, Prismatic Laser, and Meteor Assault, it'd work out.

Here's a silly AG strat I came up with: Coil + Agility + Baton pass Dudunsparce with Leftovers sets up and switches into Maushold with Population Bomb + Seed Bomb + Crunch + Tidy Up and Protective Pads
