Uncle chew is awesome at his old age he doesn't give up ,he doesn't bring himself down with self pity , he knows he can't work in cold environment ,he went out to find other opportunities to work and to learn.

Why is Sky's flat so messy? The wife somemore makes excuses for him! If I were in a house this messy I wudn't want to ever go home everyday. Even if family is financially off at least keep the home neat n clean. No wonder everything is in doldrums! The couple doesn't care that their children will emulate their messiness in future. Uncle Chew - I don't know what he did wrong - but he seems to be an orderly man. He does not deserve his bad situation, even if previously he may have done some mistake. It seems he can be a good and reliable hawker. Hopefully government gives him a chance and pays for his medical fees (or most of it), so he can get a clean start.

Honestly speaking medical expenses should be free when they are in such difficult situations... I mean if the govt can afford a garden and waterfall in an airport why not support the health and well being for the less fortunate life is already hard why make it harder....

    • @Aaaassa123ss
      @Aaaassa123ss 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

There are always budget set for each area by the government. True, government might be able to change policies to ensure that families/individual(s) that are in financial difficulties have it better in terms of medical expenses, but they have other areas to look at as well. To take on the perspective of the government, an example is in terms of defending our nation. In recent years, Singapore is ranked 4/5th in terms of their spendings on military weapons. There are plenty of issues in the world that might ‘endanger’ Singapore, such as conflicts with neighbourhood countries as some of our neighbouring countries do not see Singapore in a positive way.
In 2016, Six suspected Indonesian militants was arrested as they planned to launch a rocket to Marina Bay Singapore (Arshad & Hwai, 2016). This is just one example why Singapore is trying to make sure that our resources for our nation’s defence is more than enough to last us during times of crisis (If there is).
Based on this example cited, Singapore placed an emphasis on defending our nation by spending >10 or 15% of our GDP on military and security. There are still plenty of areas where the government have to take into consideration. A little more money place into a specific area might not be the best if you look at a bigger picture. I’m sure there are people who calculate the expenditure based on statistics, trends, and etc.
I think the government would greatly appreciate it if we actually give constructive feedback(s).

@@Aaaassa123ss sweetie I'm not saying that the government aren't doing their best to keep our country safe. I definitely will salute to that. Till to date I'm very proud of how our country is so protected. But what I was trying to say in my earlier comment (which may not be clear) is that help the people like the uncle who is so scared to even get medical help as he can't afford it . For such cases medical attention should be free. It's not fair on them that they have to worry about their lives and he's so old. Bless him. Hope he's alright now.

I stayed in a rental flat for 8 years on the northen part of SG. Recently finally got out of there.
It was a real eye opener for me as i saw so many self entitled people, lazy people, drug addicts, gamblers, unemployed on purpose type of people.
When i first shifted there, i get knocks on my door every few days from a neighbor asking to borrow money. End up found out it was for alcohol.
Then i see CNB officers take another neighbor away.
Few months later a family of 7, later on 8 because one of the 7 decided to have a baby, with 2 big sized dogs shifted in next to me. Just imagine the noise and chaos.
Cant really go into every single detail, but in my rental block, there's loan shark harassment cases, 1 suicide, drug paraphernalia lying on staircases, the lift always has that cigarette smell btw, fights between neighbors etc etc.
I almost became crazy staying there.

@@nolongerhuman6192 the worst ones are those that can work but refuse to work and depend on govt handouts + financial assistance from MSF.
You ask them why they give you a ton of excuse + 1 medical report. Simi rental fee from HDB will go up if they work, money from MSF will stop. Comcare will stop paying for his bills. Town council will chase after his $19.50 conservancy charge per month. These people get so much assistance just because they have a medical report. Medical expenses probably free as well in the first place. But you see them, they are perfectly fine. Even healthier than me lol.

I would personally love to volunteer my time whenever I'm available to contact uncle chew and just talk to him over a meal. He does not need much, and I think he would be happy doing something simple like selling deserts or drinks in a small food court. This kind of reliable people usually are proud to do a good service to people. Even if it is only cart in a corner of a food court.

Uncle chew is trying his best what he can. Still working at this age and support his family. Sad to see him crying in hospital bed.. As for Sky and his Wife, they are diploma holders. Dun understand why dun want to work full time and get more money. How to survive with $1000 of combined income for the family? The two daughters have grown up some how. (My colleagues hv 2,3,5kids and working full time mums and they are earning $$$$) Come on! High blood pressure is not a life threatening disease. He is just giving a excuse for his laziness at this young age instead of working hard. They need to wake up and see how others r working if they really want to free from this financial burden. What they really need is “educate them for financial plan, family plan, learn to hard work”.

I thoroughly enjoyd this production, i m filled eth great respect for these people who hv to live agst d odds. Do not give up.

Mega Ling I always don’t trust when. Does people are too rich because some of them maybe also rude to people and might be some guilty activities useally I know something when people to rich they always have this important happy must share your things to your friends and family and others maybe if you know them don’t be guilty as a rich person. All this is actually about Karma some monks knows about this kind of things between rich and poor only monks can explains it clear that your luck or not lucky, but never assume people your not rich or rich people, because all human beings are same always respect each other and always do not compared each other too 😇.
