What an amazing way to serve your country. Why would anyone choose to leave this band and totally walk away from this brilliant group of musicians and vocalists.
Sadly, due to family reasons, I did back in 1974 after serving for 6 years (exc. my 4yrs at the RM School of Music, Deal). It is a decision I have regretted to this day!! Without doubt THE best military band in the world, and whilst I still play, I miss my former musical pals, the camaraderie, the banter, the support given to each other, the nights like this one, and most importantly, the standard of musicianship needed to be part of this elite Corps.
@@nuttysquirrel8574 I think fatigue and stress could add up over time. This is a group where performance anxiety must be very high. Horse Guards is another--the fear of coming off a horse with a tuba landing on you or getting trampled has be somewhat real.
