Now that i think about it, psychacks put it best. I dont agree that love is an individual humiliating themself for the benefit of the other person, but putting whats best for that individual (the loved one).
If that involves a relationship with you and the loved one or not doesnt matter. What you as the one that loves and the one that is loved matters is if a relationship with you improves the person you love makes them better.
Love is selfless, if you put the betterment of the person thats loved above you and a relationship with you improves them for the better, go for it. Otherwise, figure out how you could help them out.
If all you want is for someone to be happy in a relationship with you, be happy in the choices you make. Whether it be them in a relationship with you or not.
