- Introducing our second BE-AM 2024 keynote speaker: Carlos Banon (SUTD) will give a keynote on Experimental Workflows for Space Frame Structures in Architecture.
This presentation explores the emerging hybrid paradigm in architectural design, focusing on the interface between bespoke 3D printed nodes and standard components in space frame structures. It examines innovative workflows across various scales, materials, and applications, demonstrating how additive manufacturing is revolutionizing structural design. The talk delves into processes from concept to execution, spanning small-scale prototypes to larger, code-compliant structures. The discussion highlights optimization strategies for node geometry, material efficiency, and multi-functional integration. Through analysis of recent projects, the presentation illustrates how these experimental approaches are expanding the boundaries of form, performance, and fabrication in contemporary architecture, unlocking new possibilities for space frame structures.

Inspiring exploration, this is exactly how digital design should be used, nice to see an institution build out its ideas and get real-world feedback.
