No one wants to be a bus driver these days. Kids are out of control and drivers are expected to deal with it while driving safely. Who wants that stress?
I've always been concerned about buses. It's always crowded and no seatbelts. It was like that from kindergarten to graduating. Crazy that they're barely saying anything like this. I would just drop my kids off.

Back in the 60's students stood in the aisles front to back, not as many busses back then so they took longer routes to pick up as many kids that they could, I've spent many times standing, trying to hold books and holding on to seats swaying with the bus.
We have three students to a seat in elementary. Last year I had more than the legal limit of 77, so I had to drop about 20 students off then return for the rest of the students and finish my route.
I've actually had to sit on the bus floor a couple of times. I remember the first time I kneeled in shorts, marks all over my legs when I got up. Actually, now that I check the date of the video, I'm pretty sure it's the exact date I had to do that.
A while back here in Little Rock Arkansas it was like $95 a day to be a bus school bus driver. That ain't too bad if you're driving everyday for one or two hours a day. I would do it but the first kid that talked back to me would be banned from ever riding my bus again. Unfortunately we're not allowed to kill them, or spank them, or smack them upside that smirk on their face. The school district would have to sign a contract with me allowing me to ban any kid that acts unruly.
feel sorry for the bus drivers,stuck hauling the bratty kids that are growing up these days?I'd have to get 6 figures salary and a cage around me,plus i'd have to be allowed to carry pepper spray.
There has been a bus driver shortage in LCISD well before COVID. And now Having to quarantine after exposure makes it difficult for drivers to return to work, and they are hourly workers. Maybe pay drivers as a salary instead of hourly. That would bring in more applicants.
Then quit complaining and fill out an application. Oh, and I would NEVER let a student sit on the floor. I would sit them 3 to a seat or tell them I will drop off and come back. Its NEVER an option to comprimise a students safety. And yes, im a bus driver
this is happening at the school we are teens full-grown and its three per seat some kids cant even get on because its full and some of us have to sit in the row

Lamar cisd is my kids school district and my daughter has missed her first period class everyday this week because the buses run so late. Her bus was supposed to be here at 7:35 and they wouldn’t show up until 8:40 and school started at 8:10
Ok so if you get onto a wreck you could cause those kids to die. They need and have to have a seat...thats dangerous. Bro what is going on in houston... What the hell.
4:30 that’s not late our kids get picked up at 6 or 6:30 am and school don’t start till 8:00 and some kids. Don’t get dropped off till 5,30 or 6 and we are town of 2;500 less and if you live within city limits or town you are the last picked up and last dropped off and if you live within mile or less from school the bus doesn’t pick you up you can walk ride bike or be taken to school
I feel so bad for all the school bus drivers. What an extremely stressful job.

Man driving school bus is not an easy job and it's underpaid especially driving them Elementary kids PK-5th Grade.
My district pays 20 dollars an hour for bus drivers now cause we short of like 100 drivers but before that they payed them like 17 and hour.

Im in highschool and im being forced to sit 3 to a seat! Ive even had people on my lap this isnt safe for any student!
Never had these issues when I was growing up in Katy ISD and now it's mess. My kid said 3 people to a seat for high school in the afternoons. Yikes

literally. in spring my school, dekaney is busses are full. we have to sit 3 to a seat and yet they want us to stay away.
