I feel like 2024 is the year of calm. It seems like all the creatives I watch are feeling this way and I am here for it. I feel like the “hustle” mentality is out and calm is in. Doing what you can is much more important than stressing yourself out always feeling like you never get anything done.

Catherine, I love to see you planning out your year. It reminds me a lot of when I worked in fashion. You might look into how clothing companies do their season lines. What you are doing is so similar to how they plan out a season. In that industry it's all based upon when the textiles can be produced and shipped from the mills (which I think runs parallel to when you have stickers or plushies outsourced), and then the clothing company works "backwards" from there, to start the sample making to see how a garment works in a particular fabric. Once that is set, they ship samples to market to see what sells, and then decide from that what to order for production yardage from the mills, and then they proceed tp produce the line to ship to stores. Frequently seasons will overlap so that when a company is in production, they are also working on market samples for the following season. I intuit you would benefit from researching the way dress manufacturers plan their seasons, as you might find some planning methods that could resonate with your process. HTH! ❤

Catherine you'd LOVE my Nanas collection. She was a theatre lady and adored anything dancing/singing/costumes. Her teddy collection is from 30+ years ago, so well looked after that when she passed, we all got to keep them. All were character teddies 😍 the ones I personally have from her is the Lion from Narnia and a dumbo. Very OG lol. Bless her she was such a sweet lady.

I use the same diary and in my notes section at the end of each week I write down what progress I made towards my big goals. Some weeks I get an F because other things got in the way. Sometimes I do better. But it helps keep the big goals in mind while I work on the more immediate stuff.

Man oh man, I really love watching your studio diaries! I have my own small illustration/ screen printing business and I will put on your videos while I'm prepping product, sewing in labels, prepping packaging and (this is going to sound bizarre) it's kind of like I have a work buddy! I actually do a similar sort of planning at the beginning of my year and it makes me feel good to see others making their plans too.
