Barcelona is a beautiful city. The Segrada Familla is 142 years, the first stones were laid in 1882. My mom and I did a tour of Spain in 2008 and a our last stop was Barcelona. I took a picture of the sone that had 1882 etched on it. Bacelona Cathedral in the Barri Gotic is over. 800 years old. I've always remembered when Segrada Familia was built because it had been in existence for 100 years by 1982 when I was born.

I'd like to tell you that the parrot you saw in Barcelona is very common in my country, Uruguay; in the past, people used to have them at home as pets, they repeat phrases and are very funny. They are commonly known as "cotorras".

You briefly mentioned the other cruise ships in the port .....we boarded the NCL escape next to the Scarlett Lady for a 9 day cruise around the Mediterranean on the same day as you from Barcelona. Cruising is definitely the best way to go.....we had the best time!
Loved when Eliot called the ship her ladyship ( nice play on the way one would address a Countess, ie Cora Crawley was addressed as Her Ladyship in the third person whenever the household staff would be speaking about her for example on ' 'Downton Abbey" . Sagrada Familia is 142 years old, the first cornerstone was laid in 1882. ( The basilica was built a century before I was born ) mom and I saw Segrada Familia when we did a tour of Spain 🇪🇸 in 2008, and Barcelona was our last stop. Her Ladyship is the formal address for non royal Countess. When the Duchees of Edinburgh ( the wife of the youngest brother. ,Prince Edward of King Charles was first married in 1999, her title was the Countess of Weesex. But due to her new royal status became HRH ( Her Royal Highness)). I took a couple of pics of one of the stones that had 1882 etched in it. Segrada Familia is absolutely beautiful

€50 euros each to tour the basilica! OMG. At those prices its when you decide the little pleasures mean the most. But the occasional splurge is sometimes nice. Tapas are lovely-my son lived in Rota spain for a couple years and food was lovely but he actually got food poisoning from a burger king !
