I've been feeling the same way, and I want to tell you that you're being really brave for saying this! I tried to hide this feeling for so long, but it's always there, you know? I was never honest about this feeling; I never wanted to admit that I was procrastinating and just postponing my own life. But once you realize that and accept what you were doing, things get easier, and you start to lose the fear of doing imperfect things and truly live the life you want.
I feel the same way. I never put so much effort to anything and in return I haven't found my true passion. I try new things, drawing, playing instrument, etc. I am not bad at it but i am not good either; I am just average. I don't have a natural talent. I always feel demotivated and give up entirely because I think I wouldn't be best at it. I am jealous of those who found their passion and allot their time into it and become really good. I get good grades in school. I never really put an effort in studying, I just study when I have to, I procrastinate a lot. Still, I am part of dean's list, but never rank 1. I know I can, I know I have potential, I know if I set my mind and take the necessary step, I can do it. But I can't even though know what I have to do, I give up easily, I wasn't used to it. I have this in mind since highschool and now that I am in college, I still believe that I can. So yeah, wasted potential. I hope to fix it soon. Anyway, you just got yourself a new subscriber because I can relate to you. I wish you achieve everything you want in life. P. S. Sorry for the long comment, I really need this to get out of my chest. I know you will understand where I'm coming from.
@rossei-- thank you for sharing and for the comment. I'm no expert on this topic only had experience with it. I would recommend watching Dr K's healthygamergg youtube as it's helped me a lot.
it's a pretty big (huge) step if you can realise it. I also think for some, it's incremental. Had a couple of rough days, things didn't go as I expected, but after a while, my determination was renewed, and now i can go harder, start again, but with the experience I have. (I mean, what options do you really have? The worst/"mediocre" scenario isn't very appealing, is it?) I can relate to that, wasted potential, but it's a lesson now. *I'll get "back" everything that belongs to me, that truly resonates to me.* 29 years young and only a few years back did I found one thing I really wanted to do, and the more I grew, listened to people who want to evolve (people like you), the more I'm gaining the strength and the tenacity to achieve what I really want. This is your personal world, you decide how to live it. Remember, you really are who you "hang out" with. I'm really grateful for people like you who put themselves out here, as someone who didn't have much validation and orientation, people like you help me a lot. Thanks.
The Number 1 Thing people procrastinate today is Learning, they just learn, they go to college, they watch videos, they read books, but they never do anything and dont get results in real life because learning is not doing. Only doing brings results in real life. People confuse learning with doing.
Really interesting stuff! Do you know The Defining Decade by Meg Jay? She talks about the concept of "Identity Capital". Meaning you use your twenties not to necessarily build up the perfect straightforward career that everyone hopes to get but often doesn't go as planned, but you build up confidence, or your identity, by your achievements and activities, no matter which area.
Thanks for sharing! But I have one question though, why can't you just focus on having fun & showing up? Instead of the "doomed mindset", where you're either a procrastinator or putting all your effort in to whatever you care about. Why not just focus on having fun and being consistent instead of being a hard worker?
@livolofsson9634 that's a great point. I think both are true. I'm ambitious and want to be my best yet it's important to enjoy each day and accept myself as I am. In relation to this I love Mark Manson's quote "your perfect as you are and you can be better"
On the music... Try to perfect ONE of those songs. Once you have one perfected, move on to the next. This all sounds very familiar. How many times did you attempt to get this in one take?
@SPsBookClub funnily enough this video was done in one take. I get into a flow easily doing videos as I enjoy it, but i've practised a lot to get more articulate and I wrote out everything i wanted to say in this video before hand.

That felt like a valuable personal encounter with an old friend... Thank you

Thank you! I will surely check it out.
This left me frozen. Congratulation man and thank you for this gift!
I resonated quite deeply with the perfectionist part, thank you for the video and advice!

@phipeli1 I haven't read it but it sounds good. I've gotten similar advice from older people too
TH-cam algorithm reading my intrusive thoughts again!
