Jack you will probably never read this but your music has been the soundtrack of my life for over a decade. You are one of the most underrated songwriters and you make such infectious melodies. I have loved every album you have released including your new album Hold. Keep up the great work my friend :)
Christ, this has probably been the most colorful sounding batch of suggestions I’ve seen on this channel yet-and from one of the most colorful sounding artists unsurprisingly. This was really cool!
I'm fascinated by its timelessness (is this a word? Lol). It became part of my life 10 years ago, and somehow it sound fresh every single time I go back to it. I was a lost 19 year old, and today I consider it part of what made me who I am at 29
@rheya1029 me too! Though I think I heard it right when it came out in 20....12? I am still kicking myself for not going to see them on that tour opening for Beach House when they toured Teen Dream. And they came to the venue I work at now which makes me kick myself even harder lol
Just listened to "Dial Tone" a hundred times before watching this video... and here it is again. Not a complaint at all. Jack Tatum/Wild Nothing has been my life saver for years. And he remains a hottie
I think this is the very first WIMB episode where I want to listen to every one of the guest's album picks-in their entirety. Jack Tatum of Wild Nothing has such exquisite taste in music.
The Chameleons , Comsat Angels & The Sound. The three best bands of the 80's many missed. RIP Adrian Borland 🎶 Left alone I'm with ..the one I most fear 🎶
I love Wild Nothing. Great selections here. The Chemical Brothers are awesome and always have a few real stand-out, almost shoegaze-y type tracks on their albums. “The Pills Won’t Help You Now” is a beautiful song from ‘We Are The Night’…
Marcus Valle is a genius i adore Brazillian music Leroy Hutson is legendary I love Soul music to i saw him in 2018 i think hes still amazing live still has his voice incredible
Saw him in Pittsburgh in 2012 or 2013 touring for Nocturne. Its nice to see he outlasted a lot of his indie synth contemporaries from that era, he always had a great ear for songwriting
Wow his new album somehow slid under my radar! Hooray for me! Huge, longtime fan of his recordings. Good video Amoeba! Great picks Jack! Edit: Came back to thank Jack for turning me on to Dog Eat Dog from Joni. Holy smokes, what a balm. If you dig Wild Nothing as much as I do, check that album out if you haven't! The Three Great Stimulants is astounding
It's great to hear some champion Joni's Dog Eat Dog album. It's my favorite Joni record and it's unfairly dissed. Yeah, Herija and Court and Spark are great album but when Dog Eat Dog came out, Joni was the first to call out Reagan era greed, the ad agencies, and corrupt corporate preachers. Thomas Dolby's prediction is great here. Around the same time he produced Prefab Sprout's Two Wheels Good, too, which sounded terrific.
How old is Jack? He only listens to music from the 80s and 70s and the most extravagant music apart from Chemicals Brothers and Enio Morricone, only Joni Mitchell sounds familiar to me. I thought I would say Jackson Brown But no, the musicians of the 80s in my country took the same references or perhaps similar ones, their music is nostalgic, but how can a person ignore that the 80s in my country, Spain, were not the 80s anywhere else, I will listen to their references if I have time thanks for the video greetings to all
I love wild nothing I just saw them last year in November! Jack was standing in front of me at the merch booth but I got to nervous to say hello! Can wait to see them again and possibly say hello this time!
Have honestly never heard of this cat/artist until I hit ‘play’ on this upload. That said, if that opening track we all hear at the beginning of the video is one of his band’s, then sign me up, man. Cause it sounded chill as hell. And btw, might anyone know the title of said track, as well. If so, cheers!!! ✌🏼
I have to echo some of the commenters about The Sound. I wholeheartedly agree with them and Mr. Tatum about how overlooked their music is. I hate the term "post punk" but they were definitely one of the fine, shall we say, alternative bands of the 80s.
Finding wild nothing was one of those life changing moments. When things in life just change. A new world discovered. Found them in Dallas tx 2013 on my way to see the smashing pumpkins
Jackie Tatum !!! The great GENERAL of DREAM POP !!! What a great musician !!! An IDOL....a SUPER HERO !!!! I'm not surprised with his picks, excellent taste. He choses music as good as his music !!! WILD NOTHING ladies and gentlemen .... one of the best musical projects nowadays !
You are not supposed to know how a sealed record sounds? That's the difference between how this video would have been if shot 30 years ago before streaming/youtube.

Nocturne is such an incredible record, Jack. I discovered it in 2012 and will be listening to it with utter bliss and fascination forever.
Pretty sure I'll be listening to Nocturne over & over again for the rest of my life. Wild Nothing is top tier.
Nocturne is all time..one of the best indie albums EVER!

Indeed
Sure it is as well as 'Gemini'

I really miss when in the pandemic Jack had a radio show on Twitch every Friday, if I'm not mistaken. He should go back!!

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yea was happy he picked up Leroy Hutson. I randomly found a record of his at goodwill it blew my mind.
Dude looks just like Thomas Dolby
was just about to say this!
This is great, some new tunes for me and learning more about Jack's inspirations. Excellent video.
Wild Nothing is amazing, and Jack is a fantastic artist.
It’s cool he’s not afraid to share his influences so openly
One of my favourite bands, truly.
YAY!! One of my favorite bands on What's In My Bag 😁🎉 good music taste 👌🏻
what a GREAT moment... seeing Jack love some excellent music - Thanks Amoeba! you rock!

Best dream pop artist of all time right there
Great pick with Thomas Dolby! He is, without a doubt, an extremely underrated artist, more than just a
" one hit wonder" in my book👍
Great artist, his band and set at Lollapalooza Chicago around 2013 was amazing as is Wild Nothing - Nocturne which I consider a modern classic.
Nocturne is my all time favorite album and itxs been that way since I discovered it in 2019. Amazing record, amazing artist.
Ennio Morricone & Chemical Brothers 🙌🏼 nice 👍🏼
The Sound 🙌🙌🙌🙌 one of my all time faves
This was great! Thank you for sharing.
I love knowing he loves 80s as much as his music sounds like it.

Yessss Marcos Valle!

Damn. This guy knows his stuff.
Thanks for the shout out to the Sound, greatest band ever!!
No wonder why his music is great, his music taste is amazing!! Hands down.
I knew he'd have amazing pics. I will check out all of these records.
Amazingly talented. I've seen Small Black. Would love to see Wild Nothing.

I was pretty fortunate to have met Jack at a Wild nothing show in 2023! He was really nice and we chatted for a few minutes, before I took off 😄
One of the few episodes i actually got a bunch of ideas for stuff i need to check out now.

PREFAB SPROUT....what a good band!!! With Dolby's production they became GIANTS !!!
That's news to them ! 😆 🤣 Hot Dog 🌭 Jumping Frog 🐸

I always wonder if Amoeba just lets the artists have whatever they select without paying! Nice if they do.

DRINKING GAME! Take a shot any time Jack Tatum says the word "like."
The game is called *Alcohol Poisoning.*
mid 80s synth pop is the reason why I can't listen to pop music today. There will never be another Thomas Dolby, today's pop just doesn't hold up...
Who?
He looks like Thomas Dolby ha
Imagine this chaps collection. Collects the weaker efforts of musical entertainers.
Leroy a pull
Could this guy say the word "like" more because he obviously has a hard time saying anything else.
I'm actually so repulsed by people who don't give love to their peers
I prefer The Beatles.
For someone called Wild. He's pretty boring.
❤❤❤
