I am a Ledecky fan who is VERY tired of the attacks on her attractiveness and gender identity, most of which are based on how she looks just after exiting the pool. I simply pointed out that the perception of her appearance changes when she isn't ready to swim.
Just want to give some love to The Roots for their song. They're so creative, and these cute little songs often go unnoticed, or at least unmentioned. This would made me laugh. Great job, band. (And Katie!)

Watching her has changed my freestyle. I do small quick kicks and grab at the water with my forward strokes. She has remained my favorite swimmer for many years now.

As a former competitive swimmer myself, all I want to say to Ledeckey is YAAASSS QUEEEN. You are such an inspiration, and I reallly want to get back to competitive swimming swimming after getting into college. I love you so much. She is so beautiful, and a sweet and humble person.

As an Aussie it was so great watching her and our girl Ariana battle it out in the 2, 4, 8 hundred was amazing, she is a wonderful person
She is such a nice person. Down to earth! So proud of her 800 and 1500 meter. I was EXHAUSTED watching the races. 💙💙💙🤣
And what is so great is she doesn't think too much about it. She just swims , sees how she does and that's it.

I’d say Emma Mckeon is the GOAT of woman’s swimming considering she received 7 medals, including 4 gold medals, at the Tokyo Olympic Games alone. Or at the very least, shes a close competitor for the title 🤙🏼
@@kar87698 Lol. Mckeon is good but she's nowhere near Katie. By the way, 4 of those medals came from relay event. She has only 2 individual gold medals. Ledecky? 7! Not to mention the world championships...
Perhaps for long distance, but for short distance McKeon for sure takes the current title of GOAT. Can’t really say someone is GOAT of swimming unless they dominate both long distance and short distance. Currently two GOATs in swimming, one for long distance and the other for short distance.

I don’t really know why but this made me cry. She’s just such a humble and beautiful human. I swam competitively for 15 years of my life. Ultimately I chose to run track in college rather than swim. I miss it so much and I love following the sport and seeing all Katie does.
What a champ. People with this much talent don't come along very often. It can't be easy being the focus of so much attention and expectation. I wish her the very best and sincerely hope she can cope with retirement when it comes. So many athletes have found that really hard. I also hope she continues to swim, simply because it's such a nice thing to do

I actually went to the live taping of the show and they talked for a bit, and even chatted with Katie’s uncle in the audience.
These interviews are all rehearsed. Blame it on the writers who came up with the questions.

- the issue with excerise after eating is that the stomach utilises additional bloodflow after eating
- Now, for an elite althetic who has only ever lived life in prime health and fitness not to recognise that, 1. Not all people have the heart capacity reserve to deal with heavy exercise + digestion blood flow AND 2. the increased risk that water poses in relation to an overextended blood supply, or cramps can readily result in drowning ( as opposed to just an "all is well" unplanned collapse or manditary sit or liedown on dry land would pose)
- I am gobsmacked at the ignorance behind the ladys response in relation to this risk for some with lesser physisal capacity ( I will give some credit for the advice of not having a huge big feed, but this is inadequate advice for some, particularly those with lesser heart capacity)

Yes! I knew there was something more to her than just her tremendous swimming accomplishments. It's her aura, energy and joy that she wants to share with the world. I hope she follows a similar path after she retires from swimming. She has a very strong, healthy family. Diana unfortunately had a broken family, developed an eating disorder and depression before she married Charles.
I agree. Driven people like Katie can’t shut their internal motors off. She took 20 hours at Stanford while training. As a retired prof, i can tell you that is a serious overload, especially if they are upper level classes. So if she stays healthy, she will keep swimming until she feels its time to do something else. She would make a great coach but it seems her interests are humanitarian but its clear she loves to work hard at what she loves.
