- Vardhangad is a fort in the Indian state of Maharashtra . A line of Sahyadri has passed through Mandesha. Her name is Mahadev Dongar Range. The fort is built on the border of Koregaon and Khatav talukas, 7 miles from Korgaon and 17 miles northeast of Satara. From the two hills of Lalgun and Rameshwar, which are adjacent to the fort, artillery could be fired at the fort.
History
On 5th May 1701, the Mughals conquered Panhala . Aurangzeb then turned his attention to the forts in Satara. Mughal chief Fatehullah Khan advised that the emperors should encamp at Khatavala so that the forts Chandan-Vandan and Nandgiri could be conquered in the rainy season. Aurangzeb approved. After this, the Mughal army was mobilizedIt was starting to accumulate in Thane. It was certain that this army would besiege Vardhangad sooner or later, so the Marathas of Vardhangad had given the people of the fort at the foot of the fort an extra idea of attack. Those who could afford it took their wives and children to the fort. Later, the fort keeper of Vardhangad sent one of his lawyers to Fatehullah Khan. He said, "If the fort keeper is safe, he is ready to give the fort to the Mughals." Fatehullah Khan immediately agreed to the request. It was a waste of time to negotiate the capture of the fort by sending a lawyer to Fatehullah Khan. His intention was to postpone the Mughal attack on the fort. The purpose of the fort was to mobilize troops for the protection of the fort. Fatehullah Khan fort keeper waited for him to come tomorrow, but not a single Maratha soldier turned to him. Fatehullah Khan noticed the Maratha game and attacked the fort on 13th June. The Marathas responded to him. But many Marathas were killed in it; Many were injured. The Mughals captured forty Lonkas of the Marathas. The Mughals then set fire to several forts at the foot of the fort. But many Mughal soldiers lost their lives in this battle. On On the night of 19th June, the Marathas left Vardhangad. On "Mir A Saamaan" on June 22 Ali Raza, the account manager, went to Vardhangad to seize the property. He seized from the fort six hundred and seventy-five manas of grain, forty manas of sora and gunpowder, six large guns and a jamburak. On the same day, Aurangzeb changed the name of the fort to "Sadikgad".

वर्धनगड हा भारताच्या महाराष्ट्र राज्यातील एक किल्ला आहे. सह्याद्रीची एक रांग माणदेशातून फिरली आहे. तिचे नाव महादेव डोंगर रांग. त्या रांगेवर भांडलीकुंडल नावाचा जो फाटा आहे त्यावर कोरेगाव व खटाव तालुक्‍याच्या सीमेवर, कोरगावपासून ७ मैलांवर व साताऱ्याच्या ईशान्येस १७ मैलांवर हा किल्ला बांधलेला आहे. किल्ल्याला लागूनच असलेल्या लालगून व रामेश्वर ह्या दोन डोंगरांवरून किल्ल्यावर तोफांचा चांगला मारा करता येत असे.
इतिहास
५ मे १७०१ या दिवशी मोगलांनी पन्हाळा जिंकला. त्यानंतर औरंगजेबाने आपले लक्ष्य साताऱ्यातील किल्ल्यांकडे वळवले. मोगल सरदार फतेउल्लाखान याने सल्ला दिला की "बादशहांनी खटावला छावणी करावी म्हणजे पावसाळ्यात चंदन-वंदन व नांदगिरी हे किल्ले जिंकून घेता येतील. औंरगजेबाने मंजुरी दिली . दिनांक ८ जूनला फतेउल्लाखान आपल्याबरोबर काही सैन्य घेऊन खटावच्या बंदोबस्तासाठी गेला. त्याने खटावचे ठाणे जिंकले. मराठ्यांचा पराभाव झाला. यानंतर मोगलांची फौज खटावच्या ठाण्यात जमा होऊ लागली होती. आज न उद्या हे सैन्य वर्धनगडाला वेढा घालणार हे निश्‍चित होते, म्हणून वर्धनगडातील मराठ्यांनी किल्ल्याच्या पायथ्याशी असलेल्या वाड्यांमधील लोकांना आक्रमणाची अगाऊ कल्पना दिली होती. ज्या लोकांना शक्‍य होते त्यांनी आपल्या बायकांमुलांना किल्ल्यात नेले. नंतर वर्धनगडाच्या किल्लेदाराने आपला एक वकील फतेउल्लाखानाकडे पाठवला. त्याने सांगितले की""किल्लेदाराला प्राणाचे अभय मिळत असेल तर तो मोगलांना किल्ला दण्यास तयार आहे. फतेउल्लाखानाने विनंती ताबडतोब मान्य केले. फतेउल्लाखानाकडे वकील पाठवून किल्ला ताब्यात देण्याची बोलणी करणे हा वेळकाढूपणा होता. मोगलांचा किल्ल्यावर होणारा हल्ला पुढे ढकलणे हा त्यामागचा हेतू होता. किल्लेदाराने किल्ल्याच्या संरक्षणासाठी सैन्याची जमवाजमव करणे हा त्यामागील हेतू होता. फतेउल्लाखान किल्लेदार आज येईल उद्या येईल म्हणून वाट पहात राहिला, पण एकही मराठा सैनिक त्याच्याकडे फिरकलासुद्धा नाही. फतेउल्लाखानाला मराठ्यांचा खेळ लक्षात आला आणि त्याने १३ जून रोजी किल्ल्यावर हल्ला चढवला. त्याला मराठ्यांनी चोख प्रत्युत्तर दिले. पण यात अनेक मराठे मारले गेले; अनेकजण जखमी झाले. मोगलानी मराठ्यांच्या चाळीस लोंकाना कैद केले. मग मोगलानी किल्ल्याच्या पायथ्याच्या अनेक वाड्या जाळून टाकल्या. या लढाईत मोगलांचे पण अनेक सैनिक प्राणास मुकले. दि. १९जूनला रात्री मराठ्यांनी वर्धनगड सोडला. दि. २२ जून रोजी "मीर ए सामान ' या खात्याचा व्यवस्थापक अली रजा हा वर्धनगडातील मालमत्ता जप्त करण्यासाठी गेला. त्याने किल्ल्यातून सहाशे पंचाहत्तर मण धान्य, चाळीस मण सोरा व बंदुकीची दारू, सहा मोठ्या तोफा व जंबुरक असा माल जप्त केला. त्याच दिवशी औरंगजेबाने किल्ल्याचे नाव बदलून "सादिकगड' असे ठेवले. औरंगजेबाची पाठ फिरताच हा किल्ला मराठ्यांनी परत जिंकला आणि त्याचे सादिकगड हे नाव बदलून वर्धनगड केले.

After Afjalkhan is killed at the base of pratapgarh Shivrai started conquering number of kills ( गड)
Vardhangarh was conquered by Maratha one of them was Bajirao Hangoji Barge of koregaon koregaon utimatatly he died on Vardhangarh
There are number of Machi ie Ramoshi machi, Bhandarmachi etc to protect gadh from enemy infiltration still Ramoshi community is residing there.
