I started listening to them four years ago, they were already disbanded and until now I love them and think they are one of the best VK bands. I love these kind of bands even when I get into them a little time ago and older people than me use to like it, I feel like I can keep the music I like alive in some sort of way.
Their music really does live on forever. I've been a fan for over 15 years now and I can still say D'espairsRay is one of my favourite bands - even after disbanding. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to witness their awesome live performance in 2006 when Liquidize tour was going on. Oh, the nostalgia...
@@justinhandfield3422 Seems like TH-cam deleted my reply but yep, I was! Not sure if this video is taken from the same night, but I saw them as part of this tour in London in 2006
@@justinhandfield3422 mirror I've heard (although, I haven't listened to Despa in years) - will take a look at the other one though, thanks for the heads up!
It's been awhile since Ive listened to these guys but even now they still are one of the better VK acts that have existed. Up there with X Japan, Luna Sea, Dir en Grey, Deadman, etc.
I was there during this performance ages ago. The video doesnt do this justice they sound so damn good live. I wold love of Hizumi got everyone back together for this man
@tiohyde3790 not even win lottery i just got lucky a friend who lived there got tickets. Iirc Tokyo it was right after my junior year of hs started and I left for a week. Also got to attend final concert by over paying for tickets
@@milky1234123 Seeing this live it's pretty much winning lottery. Even more knowing this video alone doesn't make justice to the sound. Do you remember if they played Monokuro ni naita no saigo ni? In the backshoot of the dvd they are practicing it.
...it is the most apparent with the guitar and the drums. Just listen to the guitar tone and the part at around 1:15, for instance; that riff is played with a slightly different pacing in here compared to the studio version (which I quite like, the riff is more headbangable in here). Also, you gotta be pretty deaf if you can't hear that HIZUMI is singing here. Just listen to the prolonged, kinda wailed (in a good way) note at around 0:55, for instance. In short: these guys were incredible live.
this is my absolute most favorite song and one of their best next along with squall, yami ni furu kiseki, love is dead, and death point. d'espairsrayga daisuki desu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are right in assuming this. Some of you guys got to remember that D'espairsRay were a 4-piece band. Some of their tracks (especially on Redeemer) have dual guitar stuff in them, several audio tracks and well, overlaying audio tracks in general. This, of course, in addition to the fact that they have synth parts without having an official synth player. You'd think that it's natural for them to use samples, right? No offense intended but you gotta be deaf if you can't hear this being live.
They aren't doing playback, they just have a lot of different tracks, like high voices, scream, synth and they can't play live" everything in the same time coz they only play one instrument. I think that's just why they use sample
No, singing and playing allong with a pre-record requires hardly any musical qualities. I think as band you should be able to at least play what you do in the studio as well, and if you can't, make your music so that you actually can. I do really like D'espairsRay tho, it's just generally my opinion on music.
This was one of the best bands I have ever listened to bar none, they were awesome ;D
