      Blue Sky what ignorant comment? I don’t see any. My point is Asians (especially male Asians) do not find themselves compatible with foreigners. (Especially foreigners of darker race.)
      A lot of the Asians I talk to that I’ve become used to have a different way of thinking, seeing, and treating others. They are different with romance (especially the males) may not have the same interest, and may be attracted to a different preference.

      @@loopymomy2532 If that's the conclusion you get from that, you missed the whole point. The nationality won't get into play once you're with a person, you talk about romance, not everyone is looking for the same things, for example, my cousin attracted his wife, because he's a very responsible person. Now from a story I read from a British girl and a Korean guy who were planning to get married, she liked he wasn't afraid to commit, something she claimed she was like that, too, unlike other guys she met before.

      Or asking parents what they think of the idea to have a foreigner enter their family (male or female). Bc isn't it a big fear of a couple that their families would dislike it/ would disagree with the relationship?
      Also I think it is interesting that the answers often sound like an exchange program 😅 words like learning, cultural experience and memories (implying that the relationship will not last).
      There is nothing wrong with all that but it seems they mostly think of it as a temporary idea.

    I'm a Korean guy whos born and raised in Seoul, South Korea.
    I still remember when I was about 16 or 17, There was one foreign girl named Maxine in my public high school.
    She was a sweet white girl (you know.. quite typical American girl who is sweet, kind, pretty and has curvy figure) from Rhode Island, US.
    Every students in my high were quite curious so they ran to her homeroom trying to talk to her in their broken English and body language every break time.
    Luckily for me I once lived in UK for 7 years earlier in my childhood, so I had no problem communicating with her in English.
    Since I was in the same classroom with her (we don't move to different classes everytime in Korean Secondary schools), I suddenly became an "Interpreter" that in need everytime those kids trying to deliver what they wanted to say.
    So we naturally started to talk to each other and got quite friendly.
    After that, Suddenly this question crossed my mind so one day I asked my parents, "Mother, Father, What would you say if I date and maybe marry a non-Korean girl in the future?".
    They look quite surprised and quickly they started to emphasise their point in Korean-style Beating around the bush way, "Uhmm.. Son , well.. I know you what you mean sure sure I do unerstand
    you are 17, maybe a fully grown man now but umm son still.. umm we want you to.. date .. yeah maybe dating alright but Maybe we want you to marry a Korean girl and have a Korean looking baby just like you and your future wife, just like your dad and myself".
    for you who don't understand, that means they're fine with me *dating* a foreign girl but please don't *marry* a foreign girl.
    So I planned to become a little rebellion to prove very clear point of mine to my parents that I am gonna live *MY LIFE* un-bothered by anyone.
    Started to think how to ask Max out, Making some scenarios.
    Next morning comes, I went to school, My heart was beating so fast concerning about my ass being rejected all the time...
    In lunch break (I always ate lunch at the same table with her since she came), she asked me something with very nervous attitude that i can read from her face.
    "So.... Seop? Do you maybe have a time this Saturday afternoon maybe? I am trying to go to River Han but I don't know how to go there.. I mean it is okey if you are busy I totally understand"
    I said " Yes sure of course" right away. then she smiled big.
    Later I noticed she was very tired waiting for me to ask her out first because apparently I was one hell of a senseless guy that had ignored all of her signs
    And yes, After we became boyfriend and girlfriend, I introduced her to my parents.
    They were super shocked and surprised, They were saying "Oh... You.. You guys are dating ohh haha what a lovely young couple in love haha"
    However I can tell by their face that they were not that happy.
    But soon after all, since I'd got asked out by one real fine young lady, so she changed all the stereotypes of foreign people in my parents head.
    Later, Even my mom and dad asked me first "How's that cute American girl doing these days? You guys won't get back together anymore? not even a single chance? XD"
    we had been together for like.. almost 3 years and then I broke up with her right after the highschool.
    Because I decided to go to Military for 4 years ... professionally.. although she was crying and said she can wait for that.
    I thought it would be the best for both of us at that time since she also needed to get back home in the US.. I still kinda regret that a bit XD.
    Now I got discharged from the military not long ago, and recently found her on FB. she hasn't changed and she is in new love, damn she looked happy XD
    So I left her a short message and she replied me back, we even did a little Facetime.
    She was a bit teary but still she looks happy and thats it for me (I am not a guy that crosses the line)
    I hope she would be happy and wishes may great luck follows her after all.

    I‘ve been talking to my male cousins in Korea and one thing I have to tell y‘all is.
    When they talk about dating “foreigners“they either think of Japanese , Chinese , Southeastern asian countries or blonde european girls tbh.
    They are not that open-minded when it comes for example to a black girl

    I hate how they treat it as an “experience”. Like either you genuinely love the person or not. Dating someone you don’t actually feel romantically attracted to is sick to me.

    • @potato_nyin_6448
      @potato_nyin_6448 3 ปีที่แล้ว +103

      Asians including koreans use the term "experience" very loosely tho compared to westerners. For westerners saying "it would be an experience" is mostly referring to a short term relationship that's mostly physical but for us an experience isn't that at all, we usually refer it to being in a new environment and gaining from it, in this case dating a foreigner is that situation and that has nothing to do with being in a sort of short term thing or anything like that but more as in a life experience kinda thing.

    • @user-ld9jp5ei3i
      @user-ld9jp5ei3i 3 ปีที่แล้ว +51

      Korean use the word about “experience” when they love each other through
      the mutual sense of solidarity. Not just one night stand.

      @@Thv_bss this is a realy sad reality that's quite prevalent in East Asia and even here in Southeast Asia. Some men sees white girls as liberated and easy to get type of women. Media is one of the reason for this kind of mindset, I blame them for this because they created this kind of stereotype towards girls from the West.

    I seriously would hate being called "an experience". If a man would even mention that dating me is an experience in a conversation, that would be the end of the convo whatsoever.
    If a man - Korean or any other nationality - says something like that, it just means he's not serious about you and it's better to save yourself a heartbreak later on and just let him go.
    I don't care for any of that bullsh*t. Some people need to just grow up.

    • @Rosecco_Real
      @Rosecco_Real 5 ปีที่แล้ว +620

      But that's exactly what dating is, it's an experience. What to determine is if that experience will last as long as you want it to. It's not rude at all to say you want to experience dating someone, especially in this case when most of these men have never dated outside their race, because it's not you who is the experience but the relationship itself. They can still care for you afterward if things ended because they aren't used to it.

    • @olak9047
      @olak9047 5 ปีที่แล้ว +378

      @YNKI That depends on what your expectations are. If you're a teen or in your early 20's and you're not looking for any sort of commitment, then it's all fine and dandy. Have fun "experiencing". But if you actually have proper feelings for that man and are a little bit older then it's a no no.

    I'm a Korean man so I can give you my reasonable view. I'm a poor to English so I hope it could be readable for the eng speakers. Recent Korean men don't or can't marry foreign girls even Korean girls too since most young Korean bois and girls are facing economic problems and having a hopeless future due to the lack of job opportunity but also overworking and underpaying as same as global issues. We mostly decide not to marry and not to have a baby since we assume that our child will be another slave for money-many people. Not able to afford to raise a child if you have insufficient money in Korea. Well, You can actually raise a child but your dream, favorites, decent cars and everything that would be disappeared but your life demands you unlimited sacrifice and responsibility for your child. We are keen to marry!! but this is a reality and young people are being more protective and cautious than the previous generation. I think other cultures are facing similar problems.
    Oh plus, some mates think that when Koreans think foreign people they just think of whites. An excuse tells that Korea is and was geographically, diplomatically and historically isolated from the world. We had not enough chance to see the people from other soils but we've seen you just through media, movies, and music. Those were mostly from US coming up Caucasians. So I think we are psychologically operated by media and western culture domination to think only whites. It's just my personal excuse. I honestly love you all who love my country no matter what colors you are.

      100% true, unfortunately. I will say; however, that's it's not all Korean men. There are good guys and bad guys in every country. It all depends on how you meet the guy and how he interacts with you. You can always tell which type of guy is which. If you're up for an "experience" go for it, but if you're looking to be seen as potential for a future then pay attention to how the guy talks to you.

      gucci tae Exactly, you took the words right out of my mouth... it’s like a knife that cuts on both sides. Nowadays, it‘s a hype, en vogue, a fashion trend and the absolute “it- thing”, Korean men looking for non- Asian women and vice versa. Looks like both men and women benefit from it equally! Whatever the reason may be. As long as it comes along naturally and based on real affection and love, it’s the most beautiful thing that can happen! But if it happens out of some weird thoughts like fetishism, curiosity, financial or social background, it’s definitely the wrong way... no matter what, 2 people building their life together and marrying should always be born out of the love they feel for each other, regardless their age, beauty, gender or origin. Real love doesn’t need a reason, it is the reason...

    I have noticed by watching these type of videos that most korean males tend to want to date a foreinger only as a bucket list wish.And if you see the married international couples or just couples on youtube .They are are the same a korean boy with a white chick with blue eyes most of the time.If she doesn’t have blue eyes she is white as f.They can only picture a foreinger as a wife if is white bc you know we have those standards so if we are taking it to marriage lets marry that type because its “pretty “.So ,I think the chance of you marrying a korean is low and almost impossible if you are either black or tanned and not with blue eyes and thats the tea sis 🍵.

      in korea, like any other nations, dating is big and important part of life. it is related not only to sincere love, but to imporving the outlook that should be aquired to find like-minded spouse and to be better self for the partner. so many parents, including my, tell their child to have many dating experince as possible before marriage.
      so yes, like you said, most of koreans think dating kind of training.. and i cant deny this is not a instrumental mindset.
      but i hoplly want you to know that kind of mindset is not generated by selfish desire, but even by sincerity about love affair.
      and lastly i really hope you understend my pool english which learned from korean SAT😂😂

    It only depends of personality and character compatibility,from my perspective the only thing that could be a barrier its the language. My boyfriend its Korean,and no i didn't search or been obsessed to date a korean it just happened out of suddently. I think the fact that he is open minded about alot of stuffs make us work so well together,and trust me he do care alot of his culture,but we both try to embrace the differences, and try to enjoy it. I could say that maybe the fact that we both in our 30's made it even more easier for us to find a common ground even if we come from different backgrounds. I would not change him for anything,what started as a funny friendship will soon end as a interacial family. What im trying to say is that its not ok to fetishize a race,and that a relationship should come natural, and based on character,personality compatibility and NOT on a skin/race fetish.

    As a Korean male myself, I think most Korean men don't care dating or for marriage in the outside of our culture as long as foreign girlfriend has a certain degree of willingness and courtesy accepting Korean manners as a daughter in law.
    Since marriage is not only the personal tie still in Korea, having a Korean vibes or courtesy is the very concern most Korean males consider before jumping to the international relationship.
    That's why we have more international couple from Japanese (most similar culture), China, Vietnam which are strongly originated from Confucianism and their marriage tend to be fitter than the other nations.
    I had many international female friends when I studied overseas and many of them were interested in me getting to be serious relationship rather than staying the casual ones. But I wasn't sure if they may willing to accept the Korean social courtesy and manner especially to the elderly. So it is one of things most Korean males are cautious for the serious relationship and they tend to take the foreign girl friend as a date mate.

    • @introverttaciturn4133
      @introverttaciturn4133 5 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Paying respect to elderly is really not that hard tbh. I think all cultures in the world gives so much respect to elders. Courtesy to be given is an innate nature of humans. I think it goes down more on keeping the lineage pure. I think Koreans take pride in keeping the bloodline purely korean just because it had been that way for thousands of years. Your culture and your tradition is a treasure to you guys. It's your way of life. Foreigners (at least westerners) tend to portray a bad impression to asians because of oppressions and colonizations and wars, they see them as barbaric, oppresors, and liberated people. That's probably why most (not all) korean families are not open to interracial/foreign relationships 'cause they fear there might be drastic changes in the way of living as a whole and it might change the principles of their family member/s. But IDK tho 'cause we love who we love. As long as you're not going to consider dating foreigners for "experience" only then others' opinions don't really matter. Including your family's. They might resent you for a while, but family will always accept you and love you and support you no matter what. Important thing is you give genuinely love without a hidden agenda. Date to marry. Not date to bang. LOL 😅

      @@introverttaciturn4133 Well rounded insights over the Korean culture.
      We have 150.000 international marriage in Korea according to the Chosun Newspaper article in 2016, and 500.000 children from them and 300 millions of foreigners residents in Korea.
      2 out 10 marriages are international marriage in Korea in 2017.
      Statistically Korea is no longer homogenous society but still xenophobic for many of whom are old in Korea afraiding of the mixture of culture or eventually vanishing its cultural practice.
      I think it is a natural alternative these days for Korean men that dating or international marriage is a smart option in replacement of marriage to Korean women who are extremely materialistic, demanding, and hardly satisfactory to their spouse. That's what the marriage phenomenon tells in the stats.
      Korean govt even has put tremendous amount of efforts on the intercultural family and provided various social benefits and welfares. If you marry Korean and have children, monthly cash, free learnings, discounted transportation, medical service, education, nurturing, nursing, child labor cares, college entrance, optional military service, job seeking, on and on are provided to you.

      @potato_nyin_6448 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7
