Amazing how almost all of this is done by hand. An art form with a great work ethic. In the States these industries are all automated and mass produced for profit. But in France, these are made with creative enthusiasm, each piece, no matter how big or small, literally every bite, fashioned with great care. I love to watch the artist, Mr. Bourdillat, at work. Great video series.
I saw a sign in a local restaurant that I thought was cute: "Le chocolat est notre ennemi. C'est lâche de fuir devant l'ennemi." (Chocolate is our enemy. It is cowardly to flee before your enemy) :)
Fantastic Diane! I love how the French people have so much pride and passion in everything they do. What gorgeous, creative masterpieces I love milk chocolate. ❤️🇫🇷🇺🇸💕
As with the bakery videos, this is fantastic! Like with the bakery, it is fascinating to see the marriage of automation and artisan craftmanship... employing both parts of the manufacturing process to their maximum benefit... and to know that each item is designed to both look lovely and taste divine! If only the video could come with samples!!!
This was an exceptional video! It's an art to make beautifully tasteful chocolates and this process was fun to watch! Leave it to the French when it comes to most anything artistic!
HUGE THANK YOU!!!!! Especially I was impressed with french tradition to pass knowledge and experience to younger generation. There is no better way to better future for any society. I wish to see that in the U.S..
Really enjoyed this video and your other "behind the scenes" ones as well. Helpful for Americans to understand an aspect of French culture that may not be readily accessible.
What a spectacular video! Thank you so much Diane for sharing the making of the most beautiful chocolate creations. It is truly inspiring to see such artistry.
What a great video! I appreciated the opportunity to hear (and have translated) spoken native French almost as much as I appreciated seeing these artisans at work on their delicious creations!
Good to see you again, Diane, but glad you took a break! Mr. Bourdillat's work is stunning. What an educational, yet fun and interesting video! Loved to hear about their apprenticeship program. We don't do that enough here in the states. Thanks so much for sharing. Now off to your website where I have yet to read your latest blog!
Super vidéo, merci beaucoup Diane ! Quelle belle présentation du métier de chocolatier... Nous sommes des Français installés au Canada, et nous regardons tes films en famille pour assouvir notre côté gourmand. ;)
Oh my goodness! I visited this very chocolaterie when i was studying abroad in Angers last Summer! M. Bourdillat gave an excellent presentation to our group on chocolate making. It's so cool to see him and his chocolaterie on your TH-cam channel! On a related note, I found your blog when researching the Angers area before my trip and your video tour of the town was so helpful. Merci!
Thanks so much for posting this video, Diane, it’s wonderful and very informative. I deeply admire these chocolatiers’ commitment to their craft. Regarder cette vidéo est un moyen très agréable pour moi de pratiquer les compétances d’écoute en français. Je vous remercie
Terrific video! Thank you, Diane, and the staff at the Bourdillat Chocolaterie! That was fascinating to watch the behind-the-scenes of how chocolates are made.
Love sooo much your bakery series, all the behind the scenes gave me exceptional experience (rare see) to sense the french bakery and also surged me to keep up the French learning
Hi ! Personally I learned English by watching tv show, I think that the best way for you to learn french would be to watch movies in original version ;)
This was fantastic Diane.. I've always wondered how chocolate was made. Now I know why it so expensive. So much detail and craftsmanship involved.. I loved that you showed the young students explaining how they came to be there... One of the girls had not one but two CAPs working on her BTM.
L.O.V.E. the behind the scenes videos - bakeries and chocolate especially!!! What a treat. A behind the scenes at a cafe or restaurant would be interesting... (the wait staff have their 'career' as a waiter most times, right?... unlike in the US where it is often a low paying 'stop to something else' kind of job ... ) A video on either the back or the front of the "house" would be great ~
Diane, you have been missed. But it was worth the wait! Gorgeous chocolates, loved that chocolate box and was thrilled that we got to see one made from start to finish. I wish that the training systems in the US were more like France as the young people seem to take great pride as was seen here and in the Bakery series. This was informative and fun....yes, please, more of the same, if possible. My favorite chocolate is artisanal, so this was a treat to see behind the scenes in France. I have to ask if you did get to sample some chocolates and did you take the lovely tray of the coffee pot and cups goodies home?
Absolutely had a few samples! They have a special blend called "blond" that is a light chocolate with a caramel flavor and it's delicious. I generally don't like super sweet caramel things, but the ones the owner gave me were phenomenal. I WISH I got the coffee tray. It's too beautiful to eat. I'd feel bad! Thanks for watching.
I suppose chocolate is one of those things that allow us to savor a type of sweetness that becomes apart of us. The delicate French Chocolate flavor is the ultimate sweetness and therefore the most memorable. Needless to say, I love French chocolate!
Ordered a box of chocolates from Vienna this past February. It was really good but loved their minced apple strudel bar that had flaky pastry covered in chocolate. Well worth to experience treats by artisans 🍫🍏🍍
Diane, I appreciate the emphasis you made on explaining that tradition..I love that there is a pride and aprreciation for creativity..working as artisan..doing artistic apprenticeship..this widens the prospects of career choice ..I have found it sad how in some western countries young adults and teens get judged or made to feel inadequate if they are not from academia ..learning only for high paying career and disregard for their unique person abilities...what do you think? My parents are from middleeastern background and snubbed and shunned all my creative abilities ..I am now in my early 40's so tjankfully found my way back to what makes me me ..and brings me fullfillment..It might take longer time to see high earnings but I know a) this is not sometjing to focus on..and that b) it will start to flow as a reward for dedication to real craft true self. THANK YOU. xxLia
Thank you for showing this. It is very interesting. I like all kinds if chocolate and wish they all came in a chocolate box! What other trades could you show us?
Hi Cleo, I'm still figuring out the direction of my channel so let me know what you'd like to see. ;-) I have plans to film at a goat cheese farm and winery this spring, so stay tuned and thanks for watching!
Thanks learned alot about chocolate and ganache. My favorite chocolate is Dark chocolate. My favorite sweet is a chocolate eclair always! Thanks for the videos keep them coming👏.
The factory "Valrhona" where is made the base chocolate is in south of Lyon, near Valence. There is a museum and, in the shop, you can taste every chocolate for free and as much as you want :D
That was amazing. The time and concentration that goes into the chocolate making are beyond my imagination. Thank you for an informative and very fun video. You have a new subscriber.
Most excellent! Thank you for sharing this. Seeing how they make their chocolates, step by step was remarkably informative and super enjoyable. Please visit more chocolatiers if you can make the arrangements.
Oh la la. This is so incredible to see. This guy is a total master artisan of his craft. I loved watching this. I would flip out if someone bought me that chocolate platter with the cup etc. I cannot believe all that delicious chocolate for so little money. I have spent almost that much for a box of Godiva Chocolates and to me, not that great. This chocolate looks delicious. Wonder what percentage of cocao is in the triangle box? We have missed you. Hope all is well. Thank you!
Wonderful video and very informative. I've been trying my hand at chocolatiering in my home kitchen so to see the behind the scenes work of professionals and artists of such caliber is very inspiring (and eye-opening!). Thank you!
Really nice video, thank you so much for sharing. I love anything sweet and french :-) also, I love to see the pride they take in learning their "metier" and passing on the knowledge to future generations. Merci :-)
My all time chocolate favorite is dark chocolate. But hey I won’t say no to any kind of chocolate if it’s made in such artisanal way. Thanks a lot for this delectable video 😋😋😋
Ohhh, this makes me miss France even more. I went to that well known culinary school in Paris and specialised in pastry but I’ve tried my hand at chocolate at home. It’s more fun than Play Doh -and you can eat any mistakes.
This is a very interesting and entertaining video! Thank you very much for making it. The special order is very impressive, absolutely astonishing work. Personally, my favorite kind of chocolate is very dark, at least 70% cacao. I like it very chocolaty and not sweet, but I'm happy to eat milk chocolate, too.
An excellent presentation as usual. A number of years ago now I spent a week in Noves just outside of Avignon and one of the young bakers there also was a chocolate artist it was just before Easter and I went to his shop everyday to see the latest creation. Do you think there is a chance that this shop would send one of those triangular boxes to a friend of mine by mail or courier she is in a long term care facility in southern France I would love to send her one of those for Easter.
I love to see their passion. Can you talk more about schooling, bac, in France? It always interests me but it was never cover deep enough in my French classes.
Great video, thank you... One thing I missed: How are the figures made for the "safari" collection ? I imagine they are molded somehow, and then finished by hand, but I only saw the hand-finishing by M. Bourdillat...
You can also find industrial chocolate in France but really the difference in taste and quality is big….

Love this video. Love chocolate. I love it all. I love white and milk the most. Beautiful artwork with the safari animals.
This was an exceptional video! It's an art to make beautifully tasteful chocolates and this process was fun to watch! Leave it to the French when it comes to most anything artistic!
Une fois de plus un énorme travail pour ce reportage digne d'une journaliste et cinéaste professionnelle. Bravo Diane !
Merci beaucoup !
Annette Schiffer here. OMG this was fantastic! Thank you so much for putting it together. I'm sure you left with a bunch of souvenirs!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Love the patisserie and chocolatier shops 💝💗🍰🍫🍰🍰🍰🍰
C'est génial ! J'adorerais y aller un jour ! J'ai vraiment apprécié cette vidéo :)
Absolutely fascinating...

Glad you enjoyed it
So interesting, even for non us People. Thank you
Awesome, pls continue to post such vedios
Oh wow that chocolate work is amazing. I often wondered how they get the pattern onto chocolate. Now I know. Thanks for a fascinating video !
You are so welcome!

This is pure artistry.
What a special treat to watch after getting home from my French tests!!

Another great video, Diana!!
This is beautiful. The coffee set is amazing. I really like raspberry and chocolate together. Thanks for this interesting video.

I just found your channel a few weeks ago, your videos are wonderful! I love them! Thanks! ❤️
Yay! Thank you! and welcome!
thank you so much for such an amazing video! I love all your behind the scenes / bakery videos!
I suppose chocolate is one of those things that allow us to savor a type of sweetness that becomes apart of us. The delicate French Chocolate flavor is the ultimate sweetness and therefore the most memorable. Needless to say, I love French chocolate!
This is truly amazing. I could watch this for hours.
I had no idea there were tempering machines!! I thought that had to be done by hand! Amazing😍😍😍
My God. This is absolutely fascinating. Thanks so much for making this video.
Yum! But it is so much more than a piece of candy. It’s art. It was a fun video, Diane. Thank you to you and the chocolatier.

Another great vidéo Diane ! It's quite impressive how you can do almost everything with Chocolate :)
i love watching how chocolate treats are made (or anything with chocolate really!), though i end up craving chocolate after watching said videos.

Hi there! Yes, I was surprised at the prices as well (lower than I thought). Guess how much that 2.5 foot Easter safari creation cost?
Oui In France well I would say it’s over $200 U.S currency because his prices are so reasonable but maybe more?
This is awesome!!! Thanks very much.
Amazing 👏🏾 very happy I came across this video.
Glad you liked it!
That's a brilliant video! I love it!

Hi there, they make the figures in custom molds that are then assembled in parts. Thanks for watching!
Yum! Who doesn’t like chocolate and who doesn’t enjoy watching made in all its myriad forms...
Just amazing! Thank you!
Neat! I watched this shortly after using my exercise bike. Now I want to eat chocolate. 🤣
This is some wholesome good content. Thank you for sharing.
Merci ❤ A very interesting video ❤️ Very Classy
Thanks for sharing with us! I love it ❤️💞
That was fantastic!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Eat the box! How fun.
Wow, beautiful.
wow! what a talent!! amazing to watch, thank you for the video :-)
I wonder what they used before food grade plastic to get that flat chocolate sheen
Amazing video! What an art!!
