There's a difference, one is a vicious creature that could bite you, and the other is a zebra (/j I love Finn and Wes)
You'd have to really mess up in order to serverly harm a zebra, where as a baby can be harmed by something as simple as just not holding it in the right way.

I used to be a zoo keeper, I wish I could have signed off my shows with that!
For the comments about animal exploitation, that zebra didn't look stressed. I agree that taking an animal out of it's natural environment seems counter productive and was something I struggled with when I first became a keeper. However, if you can give the general public a personal experience with an animal they're more likely to connect with and thus give a sh*t about the species as a whole and be willing to help them.
Most animals do really well in captivity as long as they are respected, given large personalized enclosures and kept entertained by thier carers.
And believe me when I say thier carers LOVE them, and would never put them in harms way.
Eugene: Doesn’t like kids.

But still can't stop swearing and referring to how he behaves when drunk. :D

I'm 27 and an animal lover. lol This appeals to us animal lovers and let's be real, some children are cruel as hell to animals and horrid. Plus, the swearing and mentioning how he behaves when drunk isn't something for a kid to watch. That's a good thing though, wouldn't want kids flocking to this, since that's what TH-cam Kids is for, they can stay there.
Eugene wanting to yell from excitement, but containing himself for the zebra's comfort, was so adorable and relatable
I relate to that so hard, I worked at a pet store and when people shouted on sight of a puppy or kitten I could see their tiny little bodies flinch in terror
We are big and scary to most animals and we tend to forget that, kudos to Zoogene
@@eileensnow6153 right? one of the things I am working on in therapy is being more assertive, and last session a stray cat got into the ventilation, everyone was being loud and animated and super unhelpful and I just kind of lost it and told them all to either shutup and sit still or get out because all the were doing was making an already distressed cat even more frightened. Then my therapist was just like “so all this time the secret to making you assertive was cats?”

@@rinpaisys That’s probably not too far from the truth. I usually have a hard time sticking up for myself, but when the stakes are high enough I definitely make myself heard. Sometimes it’s easier to get motivated on behalf of other people than for yourself, and it’s not perfect but it’s a good place to start :)

I don't know if this is really going to be a show or if it's just a one-off video, but can we do this again this was so adorable and any video that promotes the understanding of animals is a good video. I also feel Eugene when he goes meeting animals is like meeting celebrities, I too have a list of animals that I wish to meet more than I actually want to meet the celebrities I like. I always loved when they brought animals on late night talk shows, but then the hosts always talked over the handlers trying to teach people. This would be AMAZING because eugene is asking genuine questions and letting them give answers for us!

Love the idea of Zoogene meeting animals and educating the audience with some facts about them....but would love it even more if the visits were done at their proper enclosures so that the animals aren't stressed out with being somewhere they aren't used to. Would be fun to see their daily acitivites, how they're taken care of etc. Plus a shoutout to the place could also help them with donations.

@@avabartlett2399 I wouldn't go as far as to say that. He clearly cares for the comfort of the animal as he tries not to yell and does a lot to try and keep it comfortable. Considering the fact he wasn't aware of the "Zebras cannot be domesticated and attack people fact" I'd be willing to guess that the production crew were the ones who didn't do the research involving the animal so they could "surprise" him when it came on set. A lot of people don't know these things and I could easily see this being a mistake of the production crew and team to not research the animal welfare and needs.

I love how he whispered when he opened his eyes. Usually people yell and scream on shows when there are animals. It makes me angry and sad. Eugene was so sweet and respectful. ♥️♥️♥️
I love when people are smart enough to know that you don’t shriek around a wild animal. I love seeing animals on talk shows but when they don’t tell the crowd to be quiet it drives me nuts
I thought the same way too. Of course, I imagine the handlers asked him and the production crew to not raise their voices around the animals, so it's immensely respectful that Eugene dropped his voice to a whisper and was able to (somehow lol) keep it together.

I LOVE owls, and the first time I got to be next to an owl and hold one I got speechless and could only whisper. My boyfriend was surprised because I am usually very loud. 🤣🤣
The second time I also spent the whole time whispering to the owl I got to spend time with.
But from now on I will go with "I respect animals", which I do. I love them.
I honestly loved seeing Eugene so excited about the Zebra. But while you are mentioning that this animal cannot be domesticated, you are taking it onto a set with a lot of people. Traveling is really stressful for most animals, then add up cameras and lights. This cannot be fun. I love this series, but maybe next time with a wild animal, visit them on location on which they feel most relaxed. Love animals, ya fvcks. Love animal welfare too!

Dear Zoogene: I have been watching all you guys since buzzfeed. I just wanted to tell you how much appreciated how relatively careful you were with the zebra. Most shows who host animals do not consider said animals. I have been dealing with large animals (even zebras a couple of times) all my life... I'm old. You were so restrained and careful. I am sure everyone appreciates it. That boy was already worked up and you did not add to it. You asked questions, showed safely and were fabulous! Please, do more of these so people can see how to properly interact with other beings. As always, class!
Please, if anything becomes a series on this channel, PLEASE LET THIS BE THE THING. This needs to be a series! This was adorable, sweet, and so fun! Also, educational (in many ways, LOL). It's such a delight to see an animal-lover be up close to animals!

5:24 we have now seen two back-to-back Try videos where they say "It's the greatest day of my life!", it's genuinely heartwarming to see these folks do they things they love so much.
2:38 Eugene looks adorable, and also, I love how this is so obviously unstaged (or looks really unstaged) unlike most of this type of videos where people are pretending to be surprised when they're not
I hope this series continues however moving forward I think it would be much more comfortable and fun if Eugene visited the animals in their homes instead of on the set !
They should know better than to exploit an animal for views and money… this series should never have started and anyone with common sense, anyone who cares at all about animals, would have never brought this idea to the table. I love how the try guys completely break stereotypes. Zach has always been looked at as the weakest but has to be insanely strong everyday to fight his chronic pain. Ned is seen as reckless and childish but is extremely intelligent, shown by his Yale education. Eugene is the “straight man” of the group while being a fabulous gay icon. Keith is the kind goofball that still shows a range of emotion, instead of being disingenuous.
These guys blow my mind, they really are all amazing individually and as a group
I appreciate how much Eugene kept his distance and gave Zimba space to adjust and made sure to let him relax, even though he’s so excited to meet a wild animal, which we all would be. But wild animals are not domestic ones, and we need to constantly remind ourselves that even those who were raised in captivity are not used to close human contact and are not supposed to be. This applies to every wild animal, not just carnivores like lions/tigers but also herbivores as well ❤️

After everything that's happened with he-who-shall-not-be-named, This series should take a new spotlight. But I think it could be much more intersting if a quiz of some kind is involved, or eugene goes to the location and learns about caring for that animal.
Zebra/horse hybrids are far too unruly for most handlers, so imagine handling a full blooded zebra! Kudos to Crystal for keeping Zimba (relatively) well behaved for the video!

i'd like to see a whole (maybe even multi-part-ed) video showing the whole process of creating a video... from inception, to coordination, calls, e-mails, scripts, script revisions nothing- glamorous it pre-production -- then the filming and filming frustrations, editing, and editing headaches.. all that good stuff we don't see that ends up making this look like such a fun-filled, linear process.

Yeah they did one in Australia for conservation and have done a couple dog shelter videos as well.

I was thinking the same. especially when they said: "zebra's are a wild species that cannot be domesticated." --> that's why we brought it on a set with a sh*tload of people. It had to travel there, then be held in a room with lights and cameras. Can't be fun. Makes me feel bad for the Zebra.
The minute I saw that zebra in there I knew it was going to poop on the floor. Equines always poop when they are unsettled in a new environment. It's a function of the parasympathetic nervous system and in the wild helps them evade predators. TL/DR: lighten the load so you can run faster. Wonder who got to clean it up?

Rewatching this because I finally processed the fact that Eugene came to my school and I got to meet and talk to him. Crying. Eugene is even more beautiful in person!!!
I'm totally here for more animal content but I worry that the animals are getting stressed out by coming to the studio. Furthermore, the trainer featured in this video has advocated for using exotic animals for show and training purposes. These practices often don't allow animals the freedom and care they deserve. Please consider continuing this show but with an accredited zoo or rescue organization to ensure the best treatment of the animals.

Yes! Thank you so much. I know that any kind of captivity (even zoos and the like) won't let the animals show natural behaviour completely. But bringing it in an environment like this just seems wrong. I still liked Eugenes reactions and enthusiasm and the idea of the video :)
I agree!! After watching Tiger King, whenever I see exotic animals being used for entertainment, I assume the animal is not being treated the best. I want the Try Guys to address where they “got” the Zebra, was it a rescue/sanctuary or a petting zoo/animal rental company?

This was incredible, and Eugene is the sweetest ever!!!!! Oh my goodness!!!!!! 💕🦓 I would love to know more of the history of each specific animal guest if this series (hopefully) continues! Like I wanna know where Zimba comes from, where Zimba lives now, why isn't Zimba in the wild, what's Zimba's history, and then at the end you could share resources on how to help similar animals effected by similar things.

I love the idea, but I wish he would go to the animal instead of the animals going to him. I think it would be less stressful for them and we would get to learn about their living situation as well. ☺️
i was thinking the same thing! with covid it may be more difficult but i think it'd be worth it for the animals to be more comfortable.

Yeah I’m not comfortable with who they partnered with. She’s clearly comfortable with using exotic animals for entertainment and animals deserve better.
