BT3> character roster, gameplay in some regards. Higher degree of difficulty. Better camera and less buggy. RB>story mode. More game modes with an actual good online mode. Better item customization,graphics and sounds including the music. Conclusion play both games they're amoung the best DBZ games.

When moving from BT3 to RB I do especially miss BT3's almost flawless movement and defense systems. RB's controls are actually mapped out pretty well and are easier to learn than BT3's, but they also limit themselves with that. RB+B to grab is clunky and more often than not will register a Sig than a grab and having A for dragon dashing exclusively removes the option for a normal sidesteps and dashes.
Wow. So many people here just worship BT3 so much. I loved that game as well, but there's no need to shove it up everyone's ass. People here calling this guy biased because he's not praising their favorite game. "You can't compare games from different systems." Well then people need to stop comparing B3 and BT3 to Xenoverse. Rango Riley He only really stood by that in terms of characters. Even when comparing the stages, he brought up destructibles and terms of how each stage is different. Raging Blast's had barely any stages, yet still allowed more destruction and some nice sky effects. BT3 meanwhile, had MUCH more stages and also allowed world destruction. Basically, more stages + world destruction > pretty sky effects and things to break.
If Raging Blast were to add all the characters, costumes, stages, and so on from BT3, it would be the greatest DBZ game ever. (Pre-teen Gohan in Goku's gi is my favorite character/costume to use. I always used to use it in training mode as stuff. They really need to make a HD version of BT3 for xbox 360/one, ps3/4) Also, Goku's meteor combination in RB looks so much better the way the camera moves so violently with each kick.

You can feel the bias when people call Raging blast a "tenkaichi copy" Lmao. They are made by the same company, Spike Chunsoft. IF anything the raging blast series is a direct sequel to the tenkaichi series. I saw one idiot down there saying some dumb shit like "you shoudlnt forget ! raging blast ist just a next gens consonle copie from tenkaichi 3! if the both were in the same console tenkaichi would got that." Raging Blast and Raging blast 2 is what "Tenkaichi" would look like. Graphics goes to RB and 2 Hands down Lets be real. Tenkaichi feels faster because of the less amount of fps and smaller maps. I also feel like people are using the "fluid" argument as an excuse for tenkaichi. Raging blast is fluid as well! :/ Thats a tie in all honestly.

I greatly prefer BT3 over RB2 As a Wii scrub, I can safely say that I enjoy copying the motions for attacks to just pressing buttons and holding the control stick in certain directions for chains and combos. I like moving my hands and arms separately as I play, so BT3 feels more natural to me when dashing after an opponent I sent flying. I also like how I don't have to button mash for clashes, either, as I'm awful at that. The Password characters are super fun too, if you ever wanted to fill a power-fantasy with a character you like for no effort (OP Yamcha is best Yamcha). All that being said, the A.I is so fucking hard at it's highest difficulty, the motion controls for my version make some attacks and combos a pain in the ass to pull off, and getting enough Zeni to buy everything and max out all the character slots is a monotonousness task of it's own. But whatever, it's what I like, and that's all that matters to me.

I am not like most people on this debate. I just bought Tenkaichi Budakai 3, like 2 months ago. Already had the raging blast games. I wanted to see what all the hype was about. Raging blast is more like Naruto, simple to use, doesn't really challenge you. But Budakai Tenkaichi 3? I remember celebrating every victory. I just learned yesterday that throw was x,x. Lol, from your video. I think the reason everyone is so fiercely loyal about this game, (myself included) is because you actually feel like you earn every victory. I was sweating some battles, I beat Garlic with Piccolo and Broly with Roshi, lol. While this can be frustrating, when you get a W you feel an accomplishment. Combos are harder to pull off but are more satisfying when it comes togeather. I beat the game and still haven't bought or used items. Another way to look at is RB is what I play with my kid nephews, but Tenkaichi Budakai 3? That's what me and my adult friends play, pushing ourselves to achieve greater combos, utilize snap vanish, and outmanuver each other, waiting for the other one to make a mistake. I play it with friends almost every night. Both games have their place, and some could Tenkaichi 3 is too complicated, but I like the complexity, definitely a game to let out your competitive side out. On the hand I love RB because I can sit back and enjoy the game.
TalesOfBrian EXACTLY!!! people just don't understand until they play it just, last night I challenged myself by playing as vegeta ssj2 vs super bojack,super perfect cell,super janemba, kids buu , and hirudigarn while all of them were on custom and it took me all night to beat it and when I did I felt acomplished af and I played this game so many time through my life ever since I was 2 and now I'm 16 and it still is a good feeling when you win a good challenge and that's why I feel they should make a bt4 and b4 for ps4 with all the characters and stages and exact same gameplay style and controls they already have on bt3 and b3 and just add dbs characters and character creation and other things like being able to blow up the whole planet instead of just a stage destroying. (sorry for the paragraph but i just had to get my point across)
Chaining long combos in RB1 is relatively difficult because of the decreased stun time. Only faster characters like Kid Buu or Ssj2 Gohan can easily maintain a combo without letting the opponent recover. You can do long combos with slower characters, but your options are more limited.

I think ya played BT3 when you were a kid and was like woah this is cool then picked up RB for like a few secs saw the giving you a signature and cancels was a bit different then put it down and didn't practice....SKill Issue!
Only game remotely close to BT3 is RB2 and it isn't far off it's just missing Dragonball the original and GT. If there were a RB3 with all characters, maps, moves, transformations, and what ifs and crap then it'd be the greatest ever. Including giant characters also. Also, BT3 should've won the combat area, far superior to RB1. I wonder if we'll get RB3. I hope it's this generation's BT3 with literally everything from Dragonball to GT.
I played both games, and I greatly enjoyed both games, and I feel like each game has something that the other doesn't do as well. BT3 has the advantage of the gigantic character roster, which imo is a great thing, and I enjoyed the fighting mechanics in that game too. I hated how RB took out a lot of the button combos, not to mention the fact that now, because of how it's set up in RB, the characters on some level feel a little too "samey" in terms of melee combat. But for RB, I love how we were able to not only equip super moves to the characters in any command we wanted, but we also got to customize each character and each character's transformations separately. THAT is freaking cool. Also Raging Blast had a lot more game modes (Punching Machine easily being the best addition) so there's more to do. I feel like Raging Blast's greatest triumphs over BT3 were mostly astetic, i.e. the sound effects, the graphics, the overall feel of Dragon Ball. That's not to say BT3 failed in that department, but obviously dealing w/ a next gen console RB was bound to be more successful. It really feels like if you took the best elements from both of these games and made a new game it would be an absolute BEAST of a game.

The sound effects sound weak, I get what you mean. The worst offender of this during the HAIL Frieza move. When you stab the guy it sounds like winds blowing clothes on clotheslines. In BT3 it sounds like he is being stabbed by a sabre of something.
That's a good analysis. Though I still think BT3 is better. Especially in terms of gameplay. For some reason RB felt slower than BT3 if that makes any sense..
there is much more depth to bt3's gaeplay and it feels much more fluid while rb1 and 2 feels sluggish and some people will say that if you are good you can play just as fast but what you cannot do is use advanced mechanics like the ones shown in zero's tutorial for champions and when you hit the opponent you actually feel like you do damage while in rb it's like i do no dmg at all

You mean pressing the square button with occasional blasts now and then? I can combo very well in the game too. Obviously the combos aren't just square but you get my point. And the 120 characters are really like 50 with a few tweaks. Bt3 is a good game but no where near perfect, people are too nostalgia blind with this game. I personally like budokai 2 but does that make it a good game? Hell no, the game is mostly garbage but I still like it. Same goes for most people who praise bt3, they grew up with it or were amazed by all the characters.
killercobra159 No, i don't get your point, during a match skilled players can easily recreate a fight very similar to the ones in the anime (think about the projections, speed and reaction). some characters were useless, but it's still a hell of a roster. I didn't mean it's a perfect game, but it really come close to that. And it's not nostalgia, I played lots of db game, BT3 is just the best among all of them.
I "bought" Tenkaichi 3 for playstation2 and I still own that copy. I played raging blast when a friend borrowed me one. Unlike you, I know exactly what i'm talking about.

Heck, I like all the 'clone' characters like Goku/Vegeta/Piccolo Early, Mid, and End. Even those characters had different melee setups that made each 'form' different..

BT2 and BT3 are still to this day the most remembered games and the ones people universally think are the best ones, almost 20 years after their releases, while almost no one remembers about Raging Blast, even though they are fine games on their own.

Hello again. True BT3 characters share similar movesets, including Flying Kicks, Kiai Cannons and so on, but so does RB. The main difference is that RB puts all of those basic smashes in the same exact order and actually removes while BT3 has a large variety of different setups. There are also only 14 'cancel' sets in RB1. Also, the different punches and kicks, or the the character's fighting style(which is the exact same in RB), makes a significant difference when trying to Z-Counter them.
Well I'm glad to see the attacks have a little nicer presentation and more correct colors. Of course there are still a lot of things that had a very interesting graphical style in BT3 that I like better. For example, I much prefer the Super Explosive Waves in BT3 than RB.
bt3 is the better one ! 150 playable charackters ;D pretty fluid gameplay ... if you conisider how old bt3 is and that it was made for ps2... hell it even beats some new db games , battle of the z for example.

Guys, calm down, they are both great {but bt3 is the better game overall} BT3 is the better DBZ game as it has the anime-matching graphics and the most characters. No to mention the attacks being more destructive looking. RB/RB2 is the better fighting game as it has simpler gameplay yet, your able to do the almost the exact same thing and more content plus better customization. If we could combine both positive points of each game, we can make the ultimate DBZ game (with hero mode of course) Thumbs up if you agree!
It's so hilarious. The people who keep spamming "BT3 is the best" get so defensive when you objectively compare it to other games. Being on an older platform is no excuse.
But bt3 was better... i mean there is no other ways to put it. Bt3 has a better fighting mechanic and its a fighting game .his video isn't really that objective since we can pretty much see what his preference is.
The combos in all the games are pretty easy to learn, but I just find that BT3 has more potential to create combos. BT3's more free movement system and melee system allows for tons of combos, especially once you've learned/mastered the timings for Perfect Smashes. RB1 really only has its cancel system to distinguish itself which only gives you so many options.
In my opinion, when the hair starts to glow, I think the Tenkaichi series looks better. But in RB2, the glow in there I think was superior to Tenkaichi's

Can't really explain it any better than that. Its from the game Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and basically just makes sure the timeline isn't warped, which in the game's case, he tries to kill the Prince because he was supposed to die at an earlier time. Goku Bad stfu if you played bt3 and b3 and actually learned how to play them then you will see why, and xenoverse 1 or 2 is not even better then rb in terms of gameplay because to tell the truth gameplay stages and characters are all that matter at the end of the day.
RB has more limited combo options thanks to the cancels and changed mechanics. BT3 doesn't have a cancel system, but that doesn't mean characters have the same combos. Unless you're talking about RB2. Those follow-ups are impressive.

The music, game modes, graphics, presentation and move customisation in raging blast is better than bt3. The graphics were better in BT3 tbh. BT3 was just overall better. I tried RB and thought it was ass in comparison. You mentioning various aspects are more simpler in RB, makes me come to the conclusion you just suck at BT3 and perfer a simpler game.
Its hard to say which game's combos are 'better' between RB2 and BT3(RB1 was pretty limited). RB2's follow-up chains allow for a large amount of variety but between BT3's combo and movement system there may be more combo potential in BT3. Plus the combo limiters have been upped in RB2 so longer combos are more possible in BT3. However, they may have been referring to the fact that cancels effectively limited certain things that were possible in BT3, maybe.

All I think BT3 needs are RB2's more practical follow-ups(BT3's are awesome, just are predictable). As for the Sigs, they should integrate them in the combos instead of having a separate button for them. So I think if they just took the entirety of BT3's engine and added the follows, some of the Sigs and charge cancels, that would easily be the best 3D DBZ gameplay evar.
True, I like that there are a lot better facial expressions in RB, but blasts don't look like they do much themselves. The recoil animations and sound effects in BT3 really seemed to show the damage of the blast. In RB the it just looks like the opponent is vibrating when hit by a beam(kamehameha/galick gun) and the the blast sounds 'squishy' as opposed to BT3's explosive sound effects. In RB it just looks like a minor inconvenience when hit by the blast, even if the damage is high.
personally story wise i like bt2 better since as the story went on the cpu's PL kept increasing plus you could increase your health for all characters in story mode

The removal of ducking grabs was actually a reasonable change. BT2's sways were basically the best option for avoiding any attack because they could dodge those too. But apologies, I'm still not understanding what BT3 lost exactly. You can still sway most charged attacks in BT3, and you can still follow up with a smash attack for a counter. Many characters can still also do a "double sway" by guarding right after a sway, or other will enter a counter stance instead.
The same can be said of BT3, with sways(ducks), counters, Dragon Dash Cancelling, etc but with more than RB imo. I'll give it to RB, that the manual vanishes/Smash counters work wonders(for its system). I do respect you opinion as well. :D Back to my main reply to that other person, some characters it harder to keep a combo with than others. I.E. against slow characters, you can recover before a Smash hits you, allowing you to block/counter, while faster characters can keep you from recovering.
I supported an argument saying they didn't need to change the beams from BT3. They fit the show almost perfectly while RB tries to add as many effects as possible that really separate it from the show too much. They could have just crisped up the graphic resolution of BT3's beams for RB. Adding in new moves to fill in the gaps isn't a problem. If they didn't, characters like Tarble wouldn't have anything.
The attack speed is basically the same between RB1 and BT3, but movement and recovery times are all much slower in RB, dragging the game's pace down. I'm fine with RB2's added followup system but the removing of 75% of the game modes from RB1(putting far below BT3's modes as well) and replacing them with monotonous modes reduced the game's replay value.

Well I personally preferred BT3's controls over RB's, mainly because the grabbing and ground throws registered faster in BT3 and there was a separate dash button. The gameplay is similar, having rushes/smashes, pursuits and all that, but its the details of those that have changed between the games.
By motivation I meant you get some animations or dialogue for each of the events in BT3's story while really all you got in RB2 were some pictures and items and only one out of ten or more were interesting fights. Basically every character in Galaxy mode had the same challenges which just got monotonous to me. I do find the secret path requirements in the Battle Zones pretty interesting though. BT3's AI wasn't godly by any means but put up much more of a challenge than anything RB's can. cont.
It's true much of the attention BT3 gets is from its roster and maps, but the other attention it gets is from its advanced gameplay system. The characters were split up because it didn't have a customization system that could swap supers. Still, those characters function slightly differently from each other making them not a waste. Without the inflated cast, BT3 still has more unique characters and stages. RB is still better overall, just by having a more fleshed out campaign and more game modes
1)Add fan-myth characters.(Evil Goku,SSJ5,ETC.) 2)More freedom in hero mode. 3)More customization from hero mode. 4)Original plotline for hero mode with original characters.
The life drain from Cell is a good example, and for the most part, any issues of sound were fixed in RB, with the exception of the punch and beam explosion sounds.
Cooler is just as important as Broly is so I think he should be included. Now thats something we can agree on. RB2 for gameplay and RB1 for content. Man if they just combined these 2 we would have a really good dbz game. I really hope Treevax got through to Namco Bandai. his RB3 project looks sick.
Iv red this on a forum and this is actually my thoughts on rb2 the defensive in this game is basically useless 80 to 90% of the time. explosive wave is useless. afterimages is useless, wild-sense is useless. i remember in BT1, BT2 and BT3, when you get combos by someone, you can activate explosive wave and push them away, but in this game, you can't. even myself feel kind of bad when i repeatedly do the same combos over and over to kill someone online, i even feel cheat on them for spanning combos. when i pick strong top tier character and beat someone whom pick low tier character, i even feel bad about myself and feel like i am cheating as well. i wish we could have a more defensive DBZ game again for DBRB3. this game is too much offensive style and less defensive which is not really fun and good when you get stuck on someone combos or someone stuck on your combos to no end. even Raging Soul is broken as hell too. if you're really good with the combos system and activate Raging Soul, you could finish someone off very quick. everybody seen to just do the SSSSTTT combos over and over, then sometime do a rush move during the last and follow up since there is input lag, snap vanish don't work really well because of input lag, you can't really escape from someone combos or someone can't release escape your combos. we need more defensive in DBRB3. BT2 even have better defensive than this game. Block below, left, right, up. this game only have 1 kind of block and its holding down the the R1, stupid. not only that, on BT3, you can escape someone combos by pressing L1 once or twice which i forgot and your character will do a wave to push the opponent away while they combos you. also BT2 beam struggle is even more epic than this game beam struggle as well. in BT2, you can sacrifice your energy bar by pressing L2 to power up your beam struggle for stronger beam struggle, this game beam struggle suck even compare to DBRB1.
I would have accounted for that if I didn't run out of space. Signatures, recovery times of certain attacks and supers all affect how they are used. I haven't really tested it much, but I'm sure the attack speed of a character affects how a player uses them. I have seen quite a few stylish combos done in RB, however a lot of those players use far more mechanics than just the cancel system. They flank, use more character specific recovery times and varying ki volleys in their combos.
Is is worth to pick this game up now? I've been looking for a good dbz game since I sold my ps2 so no more BT3. Personally dont like the look of Xenoverse but RB1 seems like the ps3 version of BT3 with improvements. I don't want RB2 since there seems to be no storyline/mode. Thanks in advance

Blarg!! I've heard that quantity/quality thing before. With BT3 you get tons of stuff on top of having an incredible gameplay system. The only thing that's low quality in BT3 is the short story and online connection.
That was a half joke, but Fasha is one of my favorite characters in BT3. Dude, I own RB2 and have written a decently in-depth gameplay comparison between BT3 and the RB series. RB2 has one blast combo which replaces the 3rd vanishing pursuit. In BT3 you start with one of each pursuit and Max-Power gives you about 3-4 more. Free vanishing is far more useful in BT3. It only really serves to prolong Raging Soul in RB2. I am not making up shit to make BT3 look better.
True, the cancel system itself is quite limiting and many of the Signatures aren't combo-able at all. Combine that with a terrible movement system and you've got yourself a weak offensive system. I will say that RB2's follow-ups do give tons of needed variety in the combo system.
Items don't change a character's physical moves moves so I personally prefer having the 'same' character play differently. Prev. ex. Goku(mid) vs. (end) But the fact that you can customize different forms puts RB customization system in front of BT3's.
A game with less choice that looks good is good. A game with more choice that looks alright is great. A game with more choice that looks great is ballsacktastic.
Yes you can spam B2's in BT3 but it forces you to back-step if you're close enough giving the other player time to dodge or counter. Its far more effective to use a super after a knock away attack rather than a Smash:4>Super in RB.
BT3 didn't let you change moves, but each of the supposed 'clone characters'(Goku(early, mid, and end)) had different stats, smashes, followups so they were unique in that respect. Ex. Ssj1 Goku(mid) has better follow-ups and stats than ssj1 Goku(end). But customization is better in RB1. RB2~BT3. A higher FPS doesn't mean its faster, just smoother. They're overall the same animation speed(rushes and such) but what makes RB so slow imo is the terrible recovery time and the slow movement speed.
The lack of those Blast Stocks is really one of the major reasons Raging Blast is a Spam-fest. I actually prefer the transformations in BT3. I think the lightning effects, hair waving effects and screaming is better in BT3. Though transformations for characters like Frieza are better done in RB. I pretty much agree with most of the other stuff he said on the video except the gameplay section.

BT3 fighting system was more intense, and the combos flowed better. Raging blast looked like the punches werent doing anything at all

When moving from BT3 to RB I do especially miss BT3's almost flawless movement and defense systems.
RB's controls are actually mapped out pretty well and are easier to learn than BT3's, but they also limit themselves with that. RB+B to grab is clunky and more often than not will register a Sig than a grab and having A for dragon dashing exclusively removes the option for a normal sidesteps and dashes.
Wow. So many people here just worship BT3 so much. I loved that game as well, but there's no need to shove it up everyone's ass. People here calling this guy biased because he's not praising their favorite game. "You can't compare games from different systems." Well then people need to stop comparing B3 and BT3 to Xenoverse.

Rango Riley He only really stood by that in terms of characters. Even when comparing the stages, he brought up destructibles and terms of how each stage is different. Raging Blast's had barely any stages, yet still allowed more destruction and some nice sky effects.
BT3 meanwhile, had MUCH more stages and also allowed world destruction. Basically, more stages + world destruction > pretty sky effects and things to break.

(Pre-teen Gohan in Goku's gi is my favorite character/costume to use. I always used to use it in training mode as stuff. They really need to make a HD version of BT3 for xbox 360/one, ps3/4)
Also, Goku's meteor combination in RB looks so much better the way the camera moves so violently with each kick.

I greatly prefer BT3 over RB2
As a Wii scrub, I can safely say that I enjoy copying the motions for attacks to just pressing buttons and holding the control stick in certain directions for chains and combos. I like moving my hands and arms separately as I play, so BT3 feels more natural to me when dashing after an opponent I sent flying. I also like how I don't have to button mash for clashes, either, as I'm awful at that.
The Password characters are super fun too, if you ever wanted to fill a power-fantasy with a character you like for no effort (OP Yamcha is best Yamcha).
All that being said, the A.I is so fucking hard at it's highest difficulty, the motion controls for my version make some attacks and combos a pain in the ass to pull off, and getting enough Zeni to buy everything and max out all the character slots is a monotonousness task of it's own.
But whatever, it's what I like, and that's all that matters to me.
Don't underestimate RB2 I did the same mestake watch a channel called cantuary 7852 and you'll see how great RB2 is

I am not like most people on this debate. I just bought Tenkaichi Budakai 3, like 2 months ago. Already had the raging blast games. I wanted to see what all the hype was about. Raging blast is more like Naruto, simple to use, doesn't really challenge you. But Budakai Tenkaichi 3? I remember celebrating every victory. I just learned yesterday that throw was x,x. Lol, from your video. I think the reason everyone is so fiercely loyal about this game, (myself included) is because you actually feel like you earn every victory. I was sweating some battles, I beat Garlic with Piccolo and Broly with Roshi, lol. While this can be frustrating, when you get a W you feel an accomplishment. Combos are harder to pull off but are more satisfying when it comes togeather. I beat the game and still haven't bought or used items. Another way to look at is RB is what I play with my kid nephews, but Tenkaichi Budakai 3? That's what me and my adult friends play, pushing ourselves to achieve greater combos, utilize snap vanish, and outmanuver each other, waiting for the other one to make a mistake. I play it with friends almost every night. Both games have their place, and some could Tenkaichi 3 is too complicated, but I like the complexity, definitely a game to let out your competitive side out. On the hand I love RB because I can sit back and enjoy the game.
TalesOfBrian EXACTLY!!! people just don't understand until they play it just, last night I challenged myself by playing as vegeta ssj2 vs super bojack,super perfect cell,super janemba, kids buu , and hirudigarn while all of them were on custom and it took me all night to beat it and when I did I felt acomplished af and I played this game so many time through my life ever since I was 2 and now I'm 16 and it still is a good feeling when you win a good challenge and that's why I feel they should make a bt4 and b4 for ps4 with all the characters and stages and exact same gameplay style and controls they already have on bt3 and b3 and just add dbs characters and character creation and other things like being able to blow up the whole planet instead of just a stage destroying. (sorry for the paragraph but i just had to get my point across)

Chaining long combos in RB1 is relatively difficult because of the decreased stun time. Only faster characters like Kid Buu or Ssj2 Gohan can easily maintain a combo without letting the opponent recover. You can do long combos with slower characters, but your options are more limited.

I think ya played BT3 when you were a kid and was like woah this is cool then picked up RB for like a few secs saw the giving you a signature and cancels was a bit different then put it down and didn't practice....SKill Issue!
Only game remotely close to BT3 is RB2 and it isn't far off it's just missing Dragonball the original and GT. If there were a RB3 with all characters, maps, moves, transformations, and what ifs and crap then it'd be the greatest ever. Including giant characters also. Also, BT3 should've won the combat area, far superior to RB1. I wonder if we'll get RB3. I hope it's this generation's BT3 with literally everything from Dragonball to GT.

I played both games, and I greatly enjoyed both games, and I feel like each game has something that the other doesn't do as well. BT3 has the advantage of the gigantic character roster, which imo is a great thing, and I enjoyed the fighting mechanics in that game too. I hated how RB took out a lot of the button combos, not to mention the fact that now, because of how it's set up in RB, the characters on some level feel a little too "samey" in terms of melee combat. But for RB, I love how we were able to not only equip super moves to the characters in any command we wanted, but we also got to customize each character and each character's transformations separately. THAT is freaking cool. Also Raging Blast had a lot more game modes (Punching Machine easily being the best addition) so there's more to do.
I feel like Raging Blast's greatest triumphs over BT3 were mostly astetic, i.e. the sound effects, the graphics, the overall feel of Dragon Ball. That's not to say BT3 failed in that department, but obviously dealing w/ a next gen console RB was bound to be more successful.
It really feels like if you took the best elements from both of these games and made a new game it would be an absolute BEAST of a game.
I hated how raging blast and every new dbz game feels now. the bt series felt, "solid" yet fast. now it feels more lightweight, but more restrictive and slow

The sound effects sound weak, I get what you mean. The worst offender of this during the HAIL Frieza move. When you stab the guy it sounds like winds blowing clothes on clotheslines. In BT3 it sounds like he is being stabbed by a sabre of something.
That's a good analysis. Though I still think BT3 is better. Especially in terms of gameplay. For some reason RB felt slower than BT3 if that makes any sense..
there is much more depth to bt3's gaeplay and it feels much more fluid while rb1 and 2 feels sluggish and some people will say that if you are good you can play just as fast but what you cannot do is use advanced mechanics like the ones shown in zero's tutorial for champions and when you hit the opponent you actually feel like you do damage while in rb it's like i do no dmg at all

And the 120 characters are really like 50 with a few tweaks. Bt3 is a good game but no where near perfect, people are too nostalgia blind with this game. I personally like budokai 2 but does that make it a good game? Hell no, the game is mostly garbage but I still like it. Same goes for most people who praise bt3, they grew up with it or were amazed by all the characters.

Hello again. True BT3 characters share similar movesets, including Flying Kicks, Kiai Cannons and so on, but so does RB. The main difference is that RB puts all of those basic smashes in the same exact order and actually removes while BT3 has a large variety of different setups. There are also only 14 'cancel' sets in RB1.
Also, the different punches and kicks, or the the character's fighting style(which is the exact same in RB), makes a significant difference when trying to Z-Counter them.
Well I'm glad to see the attacks have a little nicer presentation and more correct colors. Of course there are still a lot of things that had a very interesting graphical style in BT3 that I like better. For example, I much prefer the Super Explosive Waves in BT3 than RB.

The combos in all the games are pretty easy to learn, but I just find that BT3 has more potential to create combos. BT3's more free movement system and melee system allows for tons of combos, especially once you've learned/mastered the timings for Perfect Smashes.
RB1 really only has its cancel system to distinguish itself which only gives you so many options.

Can't really explain it any better than that. Its from the game Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and basically just makes sure the timeline isn't warped, which in the game's case, he tries to kill the Prince because he was supposed to die at an earlier time.

Thats personal preference. The ability to play your own music is a key factor. I only like 1 song in BT3.
Its hard to say which game's combos are 'better' between RB2 and BT3(RB1 was pretty limited). RB2's follow-up chains allow for a large amount of variety but between BT3's combo and movement system there may be more combo potential in BT3.
Plus the combo limiters have been upped in RB2 so longer combos are more possible in BT3.
However, they may have been referring to the fact that cancels effectively limited certain things that were possible in BT3, maybe.

All I think BT3 needs are RB2's more practical follow-ups(BT3's are awesome, just are predictable). As for the Sigs, they should integrate them in the combos instead of having a separate button for them.
So I think if they just took the entirety of BT3's engine and added the follows, some of the Sigs and charge cancels, that would easily be the best 3D DBZ gameplay evar.
True, I like that there are a lot better facial expressions in RB, but blasts don't look like they do much themselves. The recoil animations and sound effects in BT3 really seemed to show the damage of the blast. In RB the it just looks like the opponent is vibrating when hit by a beam(kamehameha/galick gun) and the the blast sounds 'squishy' as opposed to BT3's explosive sound effects. In RB it just looks like a minor inconvenience when hit by the blast, even if the damage is high.
BT3 is my second favorite DBZ game RB1 was cool looking but it suffered in combat which is the main part of a dbz game RB 1 (for me) was very boring!

The removal of ducking grabs was actually a reasonable change. BT2's sways were basically the best option for avoiding any attack because they could dodge those too.
But apologies, I'm still not understanding what BT3 lost exactly. You can still sway most charged attacks in BT3, and you can still follow up with a smash attack for a counter. Many characters can still also do a "double sway" by guarding right after a sway, or other will enter a counter stance instead.
The same can be said of BT3, with sways(ducks), counters, Dragon Dash Cancelling, etc but with more than RB imo. I'll give it to RB, that the manual vanishes/Smash counters work wonders(for its system). I do respect you opinion as well. :D
Back to my main reply to that other person, some characters it harder to keep a combo with than others. I.E. against slow characters, you can recover before a Smash hits you, allowing you to block/counter, while faster characters can keep you from recovering.

I supported an argument saying they didn't need to change the beams from BT3. They fit the show almost perfectly while RB tries to add as many effects as possible that really separate it from the show too much. They could have just crisped up the graphic resolution of BT3's beams for RB.
Adding in new moves to fill in the gaps isn't a problem. If they didn't, characters like Tarble wouldn't have anything.
I like RB1 more. It's so underated...
The attack speed is basically the same between RB1 and BT3, but movement and recovery times are all much slower in RB, dragging the game's pace down. I'm fine with RB2's added followup system but the removing of 75% of the game modes from RB1(putting far below BT3's modes as well) and replacing them with monotonous modes reduced the game's replay value.

The fighting system is probably the biggest problem. There are tons of improvements that need to be made.
Well I personally preferred BT3's controls over RB's, mainly because the grabbing and ground throws registered faster in BT3 and there was a separate dash button.
The gameplay is similar, having rushes/smashes, pursuits and all that, but its the details of those that have changed between the games.
By motivation I meant you get some animations or dialogue for each of the events in BT3's story while really all you got in RB2 were some pictures and items and only one out of ten or more were interesting fights. Basically every character in Galaxy mode had the same challenges which just got monotonous to me. I do find the secret path requirements in the Battle Zones pretty interesting though.
BT3's AI wasn't godly by any means but put up much more of a challenge than anything RB's can. cont.
It's true much of the attention BT3 gets is from its roster and maps, but the other attention it gets is from its advanced gameplay system.
The characters were split up because it didn't have a customization system that could swap supers. Still, those characters function slightly differently from each other making them not a waste. Without the inflated cast, BT3 still has more unique characters and stages.
RB is still better overall, just by having a more fleshed out campaign and more game modes
1)Add fan-myth characters.(Evil Goku,SSJ5,ETC.)
2)More freedom in hero mode.
3)More customization from hero mode.
4)Original plotline for hero mode with original characters.
The life drain from Cell is a good example, and for the most part, any issues of sound were fixed in RB, with the exception of the punch and beam explosion sounds.
Cooler is just as important as Broly is so I think he should be included. Now thats something we can agree on. RB2 for gameplay and RB1 for content. Man if they just combined these 2 we would have a really good dbz game. I really hope Treevax got through to Namco Bandai. his RB3 project looks sick.

the defensive in this game is basically useless 80 to 90% of the time.
explosive wave is useless.
afterimages is useless, wild-sense is useless.
i remember in BT1, BT2 and BT3, when you get combos by someone, you can activate explosive wave and push them away, but in this game, you can't.
even myself feel kind of bad when i repeatedly do the same combos over and over to kill someone online, i even feel cheat on them for spanning combos.
when i pick strong top tier character and beat someone whom pick low tier character, i even feel bad about myself and feel like i am cheating as well.
i wish we could have a more defensive DBZ game again for DBRB3.
this game is too much offensive style and less defensive which is not really fun and good when you get stuck on someone combos or someone stuck on your combos to no end.
even Raging Soul is broken as hell too.
if you're really good with the combos system and activate Raging Soul, you could finish someone off very quick.
everybody seen to just do the SSSSTTT combos over and over, then sometime do a rush move during the last and follow up since there is input lag, snap vanish don't work really well because of input lag, you can't really escape from someone combos or someone can't release escape your combos.
we need more defensive in DBRB3.
BT2 even have better defensive than this game.
Block below, left, right, up. this game only have 1 kind of block and its holding down the the R1, stupid.
not only that, on BT3, you can escape someone combos by pressing L1 once or twice which i forgot and your character will do a wave to push the opponent away while they combos you.
also BT2 beam struggle is even more epic than this game beam struggle as well.
in BT2, you can sacrifice your energy bar by pressing L2 to power up your beam struggle for stronger beam struggle, this game beam struggle suck even compare to DBRB1.
I would have accounted for that if I didn't run out of space. Signatures, recovery times of certain attacks and supers all affect how they are used. I haven't really tested it much, but I'm sure the attack speed of a character affects how a player uses them.
I have seen quite a few stylish combos done in RB, however a lot of those players use far more mechanics than just the cancel system. They flank, use more character specific recovery times and varying ki volleys in their combos.
Is is worth to pick this game up now? I've been looking for a good dbz game since I sold my ps2 so no more BT3. Personally dont like the look of Xenoverse but RB1 seems like the ps3 version of BT3 with improvements. I don't want RB2 since there seems to be no storyline/mode. Thanks in advance
Okay,I know this is a little late(Mainly because my inbox sucks and I just discovered this about yesterday),but there CLEARLY is a flaw in your statement about pointblanking : So I used Meteor smash on Frieza,and HE JUST VANISHED OUT OF THE ATTACK RANGE,so in the end,you CAN escape from those.

Blarg!! I've heard that quantity/quality thing before. With BT3 you get tons of stuff on top of having an incredible gameplay system. The only thing that's low quality in BT3 is the short story and online connection.

Dude, I own RB2 and have written a decently in-depth gameplay comparison between BT3 and the RB series. RB2 has one blast combo which replaces the 3rd vanishing pursuit. In BT3 you start with one of each pursuit and Max-Power gives you about 3-4 more. Free vanishing is far more useful in BT3. It only really serves to prolong Raging Soul in RB2.

RB2 has good graphics in some areas but not everywhere. Definitely maybe the 5th best looking DBZ game
True, the cancel system itself is quite limiting and many of the Signatures aren't combo-able at all. Combine that with a terrible movement system and you've got yourself a weak offensive system. I will say that RB2's follow-ups do give tons of needed variety in the combo system.
Items don't change a character's physical moves moves so I personally prefer having the 'same' character play differently. Prev. ex. Goku(mid) vs. (end) But the fact that you can customize different forms puts RB customization system in front of BT3's.

A game with less choice that looks good is good. A game with more choice that looks alright is great. A game with more choice that looks great is ballsacktastic.
Yes you can spam B2's in BT3 but it forces you to back-step if you're close enough giving the other player time to dodge or counter. Its far more effective to use a super after a knock away attack rather than a Smash:4>Super in RB.
BT3 didn't let you change moves, but each of the supposed 'clone characters'(Goku(early, mid, and end)) had different stats, smashes, followups so they were unique in that respect. Ex. Ssj1 Goku(mid) has better follow-ups and stats than ssj1 Goku(end). But customization is better in RB1. RB2~BT3.
A higher FPS doesn't mean its faster, just smoother. They're overall the same animation speed(rushes and such) but what makes RB so slow imo is the terrible recovery time and the slow movement speed.
The lack of those Blast Stocks is really one of the major reasons Raging Blast is a Spam-fest. I actually prefer the transformations in BT3. I think the lightning effects, hair waving effects and screaming is better in BT3. Though transformations for characters like Frieza are better done in RB.
I pretty much agree with most of the other stuff he said on the video except the gameplay section.
And if your next move is to rant about how RB2 has no story,well,the point is,it's even more challenging than story mode,and it doesn't stray too far from what each characters should fight,some stages can be a cakewalk pitting you against a shitless enemy,while some have you facing 3 enemies and you can die in 1 hit,and some items like "Seal near death start (Number)" works only once.
I won't deny the dub is slightly better(Which makes the actors seem better with it), but I feel like the older actors fit the characters more.
BT3 may cover more series, but it doesn't flesh any of them out. It skips the majority of battles. RB is much better in that regard.

That's the problem. Despite RB being on a more power console, it failed to have near as many characters and had far fewer gameplay mechanics as BT3.
