      Dogs do not sweat through their paws, no idea where you got that from but dogs "sweat" through their mouths causing evaporative cooling, hence them panting which further helps accelerate the cooling effect.

      I know.. all my pets are down stairs in one room that me and my parenter have adapted into the "cool" room we have 6 different pets that all require different things but the temperature 🌡 is the same the only pets that haven't been moved are the geckos 😂 they are loving life right basking in the heat 😂. But the chinchilla, bunny and hamsters are loving the cool room with the portable air conditioning unit we got last year. Nearly lost poor Tom the chinchilla to last years heat wave so when we could we snagged one off of Facebook market place. They really should mention about pets.. i saw a couple at pub sat in the sun with a very long hair floofy dog no water... and it was 30° the dog was doing everything it could to get into the shade... i asked the bar man if he could take a bowl of water to the dog and he did. The couple didn't seem too impressed tho.. that dog should have stayed home 😞

    This is unprecedented. To all the idiots saying ‘oh snowflake Britain, this used to be called nice weather’ etc….there is a huge difference between 30c and 40c. It’s never been this hot, ever. Once the air temperature gets above your body temperature, the health risks are massively increased. Not to mention infrastructure/potential power issues. In a country with limited AC and homes insulated to keep warm, it’s a very dangerous mix to have for 2 days straight.

    • @as680783
      @as680783 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@glennpowell3444 It makes no difference how you phrase it. 25% hotter than 30 degrees is 37.5 degrees, not 40 degrees. I think the author is looking at the percentage difference after they made the calculation rather than before: 10 degrees warmer than 30 degrees is 25% of 40 degrees.

    • @morganmitchell4017
      @morganmitchell4017 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@glennpowell3444 If you do it like that, 40 degrees would be 33% hotter (40/30-1). If that's the case, then how many times hotter is 5 degrees than -5 degrees? By your logic, 5 degrees is -200% hotter than -5, which makes no sense.

    Living in Australia, now you know how we have summer, 48 degrees in 2020, 2018, 2019, plus a week and a half of 35s in 2012!
    Eat watery fruits and veggies, salads. Eat as healthy as possible, to beat the heat.
    Sun screen is ok but cover up.
    Skin cancer kills here in Australia!
    But right now in Victoria Australia it's cold and 10 degrees, something were not really used too.
    UK people are very strong.
    Hold on, because I pray much cooler, raining weather on the way for you.
    If it gets very hot in the evening, have a ice cold shower before bed, use wet towels, clothes to lie in bed.

    Keep fresh water for dogs, other pets in the cafes, restaurants, too.

      Summer! Following the projected 2-day National Emergency (covering only part of the UK), the 10-day forecast indicates temperatures down to a daily average of around 25C, or 77F. The area depicted on the weather map includes some major cities, so it is highly likely that the 'heat island' effect -- which increases as the cities grow larger -- has something to do with the increasing temperatures. It was noted as far back as the 1760s (yes, 1760s) that London was becoming a little warmer year on year.

      BBC are usually 1 or 2c lower the Heathrow Northolt suburbs have more of an urban heat island effect so expect them to be at least 42c, shame the metoffice doesn't have weather stations there just at the airports which are cooler.

    I can see people going on their Summer holidays to Orkney, Shetland, Iceland and Lapland (Norway/Sweden/Finland) in a couple of decades time if this extreme heat becomes normal in our summer rather than going to Spain and Portugal to escape the hot weather. It will probably be much more affordable to go to places like Iceland as its climate will become more temperate and they will be able to produce more of their own food but the downside to this their beautiful glaciers will be disappearing!!!
