Good, realistic video, thanks. Most noteworthy words: "most lacklustre" ... apply to Cardano, its market and its attention seeking founder. Real world has a way of seeing through baloney & one look at Cardano's weekly chart for past several years is telling. Hope it changes, as I own some.
I remember this. The concept was interesting but I remember thinking how unlikely it was to happen. Then just forgot about it until now. Thanks for the nostalgia Pete! 🤣
I find it depressing that Cardano partnerships are so often focused on crypto bandwagon/meme projects (e.g. NFTs) vs. core business use cases (e.g. identity, payments, settlement etc.) There seems to be such an opportunity for Cardano to distinguish itself as the "business-serious" blockchain, and yet it languishes, a brilliantly engineered crypto platform waiting for businesses to someday discover its real potential. Maybe its time to push beyond the "crypto bro" facade?
Couldn't agree more! 2021 was the year for NFTs. That’s when you should have launched anything and it would have gone crazy. I think partnerships most certainly have changed and are a lot more serious now b the Foundation are doing a great job of that.
@@danlindy9670 - It languishes because Big Tech like Google, Amazon, IBM, Meta, NVidia et al, and Big Finance like JPMorgan, BoA, VISA, Vanguard, et al prefer using other networks over Cardano (or, better yet, AVOID Cardano) Why? Ask Hoskinson after he bad-mouthed these institutions with his f#cking libertarian views.
I remember this partnership. A part of me wonder if Dish did that intentionally. We all know the company could have budgeted more money for the NFTs. Did IOG assigned an employee to work with Dish? I have too many questions. Thanks for the update.
There would have had to be some resources assigned by IOG I’d suspect. There were not really looking into NFTs that much at that time. I recall comments from Charles assistant, Josh, saying something like that.
Not surprised the partnership failed. I saw the ridiculous NFT reward back in 2022 and thought this is not going anywhere. I think the time was not right for cardano because it needed to mature as an ecosystem but also dish did a horrible job at implementing it and they are just going to continue to go down in relevancy.
yeh you're most likely right there. Cardano needed a few things to have made that experience as smooth as possible. Maybe we only had 7 wallets at that time.
In my opinion, Dish was a failing company and probably hoped that by announcing that they were partnering with cardano, it would bring an influx of money into the company, but i could be wrong.
WiFi availability in the US killed Dish. A need for a cell signal was the only reason we got Dish and since we got WiFi in my remote area it just disappeared.
@Pete, Can you do the same also about the partnership between NMKR and Vodafone? What was happened exactly with this partnership? I heard that it has failed. IOHK also announced in 2019 that they have reached out to McCann Dublin for a new brand strategy. What is happened with this strategy? Please a video of these topics would be very nice! I like your content Pete, you do an amazing job! 👍
Videophone Germany pulled out very early in that exploration. Why? Using know. They shut it all down very quickly killing off their project and community Disord server.
yes! Utility would have been great. Perhaps the NFT could have been redeemed for 3 months of free service. That way people could have traded it like gift cards.
An unstable insecure chain that is permanently DDOS'able?...no thx I'll stick with Cardano an actually secure decentralized chain that's never been hacked.
i remember when they announced this, there was a massive lead up to a “major announcement.” When they announced the partnership was dish, the whole crypto community died laughing….everyone, including myself, had thought dish went out of business with blockbuster a decade earlier…
I only found out what Dish actually did when researching this video. You'd think the name would have given it away but I'm not part of a generation that required that type of service.
I wish we have updates like this for partnership that fails, so community knows why, when, how and can learn from it
There are good and there are bad things that happen. We should talk about it all.
Its great to know where we did things wrong. Perhaps ADA handles would have made it easier with a recognizable address.
More that a ADA Handle would have been needed but it would have been a nice onboarding addition.

I think it was worth it

Thanks for track that down, had wondered about the detail - appreciated
At least vastly more wallet choice nowadays 🙂
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for reporting on this
No worries. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I have never clicked on one of your videos faster.
Thanks for doing this video.
lol. Click more 😅 watch more ads
Great reporting. Dish was never a thing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I always wondered what happened. Thank you 😊
You're welcome 😊
Wow, thank you for the update!
Any time!
Love the vid! Great work!

World Mobile Token WMTx might surpass all such companies

@@LearnCardano That's strange...
Deutsche Telekom Germany (also known as T-Mobile) would be a better option.
In hindsight we can say its always a bad sign when a company makes a partnership with a crypto company
There are also good examples but real use cases is what we need
ADAisKING
Yes
So many promised projects and so many failed projects.
🎷
Thanks
It could have been cool if the NFT gave you access to 5g while you hold it in a mobile wallet .

Dish is a dead company.
Does it still make money?
Cardano = shit chain 😂😂😂
For now, so does its price, but it has huge potential, once it will break through will give higher returns
This simply shows how cardano really sucks with in-market execution. Too cumbersome to use. Solana beats them by a mile. 😢
An unstable insecure chain that is permanently DDOS'able?...no thx I'll stick with Cardano an actually secure decentralized chain that's never been hacked.
Yeh. For stuff like this Cardano needs to improve
Difficult to use is better than not being able to use (Solana)
Cardano doesn’t attract anyone lets be honest it is trash eth and solana and now ton will take over
Yes totally agree that Ethereum, Solana and Ton are all trash.
