I was a bit more cautious, and tried taking on Necromus as my first Legendary. It... Did not go well.
Then again, I brought a non-Legendary Crossbow, and a basic Single-Shot Rifle. With
The Lava caverns threw me for a loop. There's lava all over, but it doesn't actually hurt you. Only the flowing magma is real.
Therapist: the lava can't hurt you

Here's some very important info that the game basically does not tell you. The Sphere Launchers only work properly if you also have rocket ammo in your inventory, otherwise they are worse than just hucking a ball at something. Which, may I add, is rather odd considering you unlock the first launcher almost 30 levels before you actually get the ammo to use it properly. There are a few other examples of things being unlockable before you can actually craft/use them, like Helzephyr's saddle requiring refined ingots, which can only be obtained the level after you can unlock the saddle, but nothing quite as egregious as that.
This explains so much.

Yeah, the saddle thing was baffling when I first came across it. They really need to rework a few of the levels. Having the sword unlock nearly end-game is super bizarre, as well.
For those who are curious about the lava taking out the dragon mount.
Flying mounts that can walk can be considered hybrid type mounts that count as land mounts. For some ungodly reason these mounts can still interact with environment hazards under it as if they were walking on it even if they are a mile high.
These mounts can also drown unlike dedicated flying mounts.
My poor Shadowbeak has struggled as a mount, lol.
Yep, I found that out last night when taking my shiny new Shadowbeak for an XP run. Interestingly enough, it’s not the mount’s hitbox that seems to stay at ground level, it’s the players. I was so befuddled when I was flying like a hundred feet over the lava on my way to Astegon and my character just keeled over dead lmao
I was wondering what was going on with that since before I started playing myself, I saw the exact same thing happen to them as Josh. He was even using Quivern. Then I started playing, and I test to see if they fixed it since I saw nothing in the patch notes about it.. So I flew over some lava on my Suzaku and nothing happened.
0:00-0:04 feels like knocking on the door of a farmer who owns some land, and said farmer doesn't take kindly to visitors, let alone trespassers.

What's even worse about the sphere launchers is that they require rocket ammo to actually work, but you can fire it without them (as we see here), which the game does not make clear AT ALL, not to mention that the ammo unlocks at level 50, whereas the first launcher unlocks in the early 20's. Without ammo, they are actually WORSE than just throwing a ball.

It took me forever to beat Jetragon but after I beat him I immediately just had easy mode for all the other legends.

Ah so this is when they start to find the legends… there’s one that I have specifically seen the carnage that it can wreak and I can’t wait for them to catch it
The illegal areas are neat. Tons of rare pals, including tower boss pals. Just don't get spotted by humans.
As long as you remain mounted on your Pal and avoid getting spotted, they don't give a damn.
And honestly, even if you *don't* stay mounted, as long as you're not spotted, you'll be fine.
Flying pals dont trigger wanted

Even better once you have the rocket ammo which the game never makes clear it needs to fire properly, which unlocks like 30 levels after you get the first launcher
since look like never knew the nature preserves was there, you can find total of 3 of them, each with different unique pals, even some rarer to spawn on them so might take few trips. #1 is near southeast border of map #3 near northeast corner and next time also try to look for the think 5 to 8 chest on them to get good loot like undershirts to resist heat/cold (think stacking 2 equal current armor of said resist type, or match with armor to remove last bit of color on temp gauge). also test which flyers can hover-walk on water without using stamina to help exploring edges of map.
I've tested "walking" over the water with my flying mounts and I kind of figured they could all do that, just about. I've used several birds and other mounts that fly, both hybrid and not. Interesting. Any idea which ones specifically can't "walk" over the water that has to use stamina to fly over?
some of the bipedal flyers like the fluff dragon will try to swim instead of hover and swimming actual drains stamina so if mapping outer edge or maybe going to southeast preserve if run out of main fly time good to have as backup plan@@ElysetheEevee

The pal ball scatter launcher should work like the three shot bow. It shoots three arrows for the price of one. The launcher should only use one ball per launch. That would make it op, but worth using.

The reason cotton didn't have "criminal activity underway" is because he was on a mount, so his characters' feet never touched the island.
Josh was also mounted.

The legendaries are so tough if you dont bring enough resources. When I first fought one I didn't bring enough ammo for both of my guns and with the broken catch rate just couldn't catch it. Second time I brought a faster mount that changed my damage type and brought double of everything. Went so much smoother but was still a challenge. You guys will have a real battle when you get to that point but once you catch one the others are easier.
Just an advanced traversal tip (because "your flying mount getting killed while you are exploring areas you shouldn't be in yet" is a scenario I encountered few times) is that after you double jump with any Pal that can do the double jump you can actually jump off the Pal at the peak of the jump midair and climb the little area left of the wall if your Pal didn't clear the jump, very useful tip (or you can have multiple flying Pals in your party).
No double jump Pal has a weapon (that I know of), so you can just as easily use your grappling hook. That will auto-dismiss the Pal as well, so is really useful.
@tatsumiuchiha5559 You that could work too, but you would need to aim it right in the middle of a jump which depending on the situation might not work out if the grappling shot misses the wall/ledge, the other option is just throwing yourself at the wall and climbing up which is a little bit easier, in the end pick whichever technique works for you.
@@AscendantStoic True that it's easier to climb if you almost made it, but because of the Grappling Hook's range it does allow you to get up even if you haven't made it that close yet. At which point careful aiming is not needed, as long as you hit somewhere close to the edge you can climb up. I have used this multiple times when my Elphidran ran out of Stamina beside a Cliff Face.

Hey you can use the palball launcher to launch pegulins as ammo and they explode upon impact!!.
Pengullet's Launcher is a separate item. As is the Rocket Launcher.
And before anybody asks: I tried, the Pengullet Launcher isn't as good at mining as the Rocket Launcher.
While that is not the case, it is worth noting that the ball launchers actually require rocket ammo to fire properly. Which is not made clear at all. And which unlocks at the very end of the game, almost 30 levels after you unlock the first launcher. You CAN fire without it, as we see here, but it is actively worse than throwing spheres if you do.

Full disclosure, I accidentally cheesed Jetragon in my first encounter. I tried to run away and it followed me -- off a cliff, to the tune of 10.2k falling damage.

Rocket launchers for Spheres are complete waste of materials, for both to make the weapon and the Spheres.

Captures Jormuntide Ignis with a green sphere, you definitely can capture one with red.
Something nobody seems to have figured out, is that they require rocket ammo to work properly. You can fire them without ammo, but they are even worse than throwing it normally if you do. Which, makes them more expensive than you thought.

I'm guessing the inspiration for the name is from Bahamut, so surmising it's "moot" at the end sounds like the correct idea to me, given how Bahamut is pronounced.
