Cries of the past Lyrics: It happened all so fast, heavy with sleep, my eyes closed... The next thing I remember was crawling out from the car And seeing you lying there Holding your head, kissing you for the last time The taste of blood on my lips... Your clothes torn apart, perfumed with gas It seems like it was yesterday when the rain poured down I can still hear your screams as if it was happening all over again Saturday, December 4th: that night would become a grave that would crush my heart Joy and laughter exchanged for grief and silence Searching for so long to find you And the moment I did, you were ripped from me... Laying here on this empty shelf never to be read again In these pages lies every memory of you The wind blew your heart over my eyes And I slept for days praying not to awake But these dreams can only last so long Facing the day looking through these tears I'll always look back and remember that night as you lay there Looking over that casket, seeing your face... Times of past rushing by... Touching your cold hand, wishing it would touch me back You look so pretty lying there, just like the first day we met It feels so real; like old times, but it's nothing, it's nothing... I can taste the stale air on my tongue And death lights up the sky Hope finds itself it and it ends, stopping at my thoughts Pictures of you help bring back the tears Walking in the present, but living in the past How much longer will I embrace sorrow? From the moment that you entered my life My whole outlook on love would change You brought out a happiness I didn't even know I had And now you've gone, leaving without a goodbye That glass heart that rested in my chest has fallen and shattered Here on, Lord, is the remains of a broken heart For I have faith you can give me joy and life again Death has fallen, but love covers me Heaven is now home to my angel of love
I love this era of Underoath, both AoD and CoTP are damn near perfect albums. And TCoT was also really good! I would like to see current Underoath try to make another extreme metal album, EP, or even just another extreme metal song!
def pre-TCOT because When the Sun Sleeps isn't on the setlist! They wrote the rest of the album while at Takehold and when Solidstate bought them, they delayed the album and wrote WTSS and the outro track
When I was recording this I didn't realize the bass player did the scream. I thought it was a keyboard effect or something. Then I died laughing when I rewatched it LOL. So amazing.
Thanks for uploading this. This era of underoath is my favourite, and the changing of times album being my favourite. Unfortunately as I was born in ‘92 I was only a few years too late to the party as I didn’t get into heavy music until my early teens, however I imagine being at this show would of been one heck of an experience. Do you know what month in 2001 this was filmed?
Glad you enjoyed this! Going to these kind of shows was awesome in this time period. It was about when I started playing in bands and going to shows. I am pretty sure this was in sept or October but I don’t remember exactly.
@@Xxsopxxthank you! Did you happen to have any other early footage of underoath besides this show? A pity the video cut out at Alone in December, my favourite song, but good to hear the first part of it at least. Absolutely love the energy from all the band, especially Dallas. Truly something special!
@@I3l4ckDe4th sadly this is the only footage I have of them. Glad I have this though. I saw them at least 5 times with Dallas after this, maybe more and they were always so unmatchable. Unfortunately once Spencer joined (I saw their first show with him in NY!!!) it just wasn’t the same to me. Hopefully more footage will turn up, I’d like to see even earlier stuff when they were just straight metal.
Probably an unpopular opinion but i never got into their stuff before Spencer got involved i actually pretend that era didnt even exist. It just sounded like watered down black metal to me.
I feel like their early albums might not have aged well but at the time it was pretty insane stuff. I can see where you’re coming from. Really 2 different bands.
This is a pure gold. I love that era of Underoath. I think that show was in November/December 2001.
This is absolutely Gold! Don’t let this history die.
Dallas the goat
Such a legendary video. Thanks for this.
Glad I put it for ppl to enjoy!
The best line up. Thanks for the post!
Don't even know if it's physically still possible, but what I wouldn't give to see this lineup reunite for a show or two.
@@Acr0polis I'd love to see that!
I was there! My band opened!
That is AWESOME!!!!! 👏
Back when underoath was AMAZING!!
It didn't last long but I'm so glad I witnessed this era many times!

Bro, Alone in December 🥲
I know.
Amazing to see, thanks for sharing!
The Best of Me still slaps. That song is timeless
Def a favorite Underoath song for me.

Never gonna happen, underoath is no longer interested in making good music

My favorite era
This is awesome. Thank you.
This blackened emo staff was awesome, never even heard anything similar to this
I agree, good description of their sound during this stage. I wish they stayed with this style longer.
@user-qf2sy6jt6m this is blackened metalcore
Cries of the past is such a perfect song
That was the only song I knew going into the show and the reason I dragged my camera out. I was so happy they played it.
def pre-TCOT because When the Sun Sleeps isn't on the setlist! They wrote the rest of the album while at Takehold and when Solidstate bought them, they delayed the album and wrote WTSS and the outro track
Yeah, you're so right. WTSS was writed around December 2001/January 2002.
@@noelschmidt1422 writed??
@@jakehobbs sorry, my english is not good.
I thought the best of me was on TCOT
@@waveemann8857 yes. The album was finished when the record company asked the band for a "hit" song. So they wrote The Sun Sleeps.
This is fcking awesome.
Love this era
To me this was the best Underoath. So unique.
Their best album imo
I definitely agree 👍
14:40 lol at the scream

Yooooooo Is this the one from upstate NY at some place with a name like, The Black Room?
Thanks man, yes!!!!! Glad you remembered!!!
Wait… there was a video made for the best of me??? And it was going to be on TRL?! Lol I wonder if he was joking
Haha Def a joke.
this is so badass.. Dallas Taylor is a so much better vocalist than the current vocalist of Underoath.
Highly agree.
Totally agree
@ultimo padre37 Maylene was awesome! I was glad to see Dallas back in action.
If you haven't check out Spencers previous band "This Runs Through" their whole EP kicks ass
Why turn it down in "who's better than the other"? Just say you prefer Dallas lmao
Is that Chris screaming at 5:50?
I think he just put his arm around Chris but maybe he gave a shout too!
You didn’t get their best song !!! Alone in December 😢😢😢😢
