3 easiest ways to write complex music that nobody mentions let me know what you think! boofinintheboysroom: Spotify open.spotify.c... Apple Music / boofinintheboysroom
YES DUDE! Feels like nobody writes metal in FL but the workflow is so convenient once you get use to it. And the mixing mastering is top notch honestly. Thank you man!
This was way better than I thought it would be when it popped up in recommended videos. The rap lyric cadence tip is especially genius. Subscribed to show thanks.
the little ticks you hear in your audio may be due to your audio buffer size, too many plugins or anything really, too much to handle… it you have a focusrite, you can increase the buffer size in the focusrite settings or whatever (grey icon one, you may have to click it twice to open). increasing your audio buffer does increase delay between your playing and the audio you hear back, though its not significant enough at a lower buffer size
Yeah I do have a focusrite, that’s a good recommendation thank you! I currently have it set at 192 and I drop the frame rate on OBS so it records in 25 instead of 29.97. There’s a setting under “macros” in fl that disables all plugins not actively being used and I may have forgot to turn that off. Honestly I think my computer is just not equipped for video and music production haha it’s the first thing on my “to buy” list. Thanks for the tips man!
Thank you for bringing light to rhythm. People in metal focus too much on shredding but all the biggest bands have rhythm and groove. I literally study pop, funk, and latin for interesting rhythms. Even classical
Latin music and anything not western-euro contemporary is a gold mine for rhythmic inspiration! I’ve gotten into classical a few times but more for the melodies. Thank you for the comment !
@@GTORT thanks man! Yeah I’m using obs to screen record but it hates FL studio too haha routing to audio through the external software to get it to come out of OBS just takes sooooo much cpu. Did you find anything better?
@@boofinintheboysroom there's stream labs which was a nightmare and a software called filmora but, audio issues. If I figure something out I'll definitely let you know hahahaha
You just earned a loyal subscriber now, can’t wait to listen to yo shit now. Dude just made me feel comfortable with his jokes and genius for hoping to make my own band
The name of my first ep under boofinintheboysroom was “pu55y orc da god” because I couldn’t decide which one was a better artist name lol but boof does go pretty hard
Dude yes. It’s more to learn but once you get set, the workflow is so easy and you can get close to mixed/mastered quality as you record. Thank you for the kind words man!
Maybe the cpu is overloading when you're recording with all the plug-ins and what not. Try switching the encoder to your dedicated graphics card if you have one. And also really good ways of explaining ways to get creative with rhythm. Well Said.
Not Playing God, But O.D. is based on a Kanye song. Although he's stated in other interviews that a lot of the melodies he uses try to imitate a rap cadence.
I think you're being too hard on yourself in this video💀, because honestly this video is so goated and helpful. I didn't even know what Metric Modulation was 19 minutes ago, only heard of it and this video definitely made it clearer to me
Haha I appreciate it bro! More of self deprecating humor to get the point across that I have no formal music training but I appreciate the kind words dude! Glad I could demystify the metric modulation! I use to be so intimidated by it until I did it on accident haha
I've zero interest in thinking about a rap song (that already exists-with someone else's lyrics) while playing my songs. That being said, it can be something to get you to where you don't need it anymore, I suppose. Hell, I've gotten ideas from listening to people talk up in the front seat, or raindrops falling off the spouting. So I'm not criticizing. Music is happening everywhere, all the time.
Do you have a template or flp you use with groups and busses set up etc that we can download for easy recording my dude?, i wanna make music but im not a producer, i just wanna record stuff
I’ll see if I can find a way to set that up, that would be awesome actually! In my “home recording studio” video I kinda cover my tone and what I use to get the production side of things dialed. I’ll see if I can set up a template people can download and I’ll let you know if I get it made! Thanks for the comment dude! I totally know what you mean by just wanting to record stuff haha
Even though I primarily listen to metal music, I do not really feel like I even understand what you are talking about in this video. The example songs included between clips of you talking mostly just sound like you're strumming a single note/power chord over and over. It does not seem very complex, and I personally find this rather grating to listen to. Hence, I cam only assume this methodology only applies to a narrow style of metal music.
It’s not technically complex, I have other “technically” complex songs but this is more about writing complex rhythms and patterns which is the basis for a lot of the metal I enjoy and try to emulate (see; Frontierer, Ion Dissonance). It’s on the more extreme spectrum of “metal” maybe better described as “math metal” or “djent”. I appreciate the comment though! Check out my newest video on atmosphere, it may be more suited to the type of music you like!
great vid just sometimes need to see someone do what ur trying it helps. just found ur stuff ill keep up with ur stuff im in the same boat trying to start youtube and create good music to send out in the world. it takes time man i know how it is. ur doing great on the vids definately deserve more eyes and ears.

I feel the pain of trying to get ASIO stuff going through OBS, and then to have a mic going at the same time? Godspeed
