She doesn't rely on LED screen to bring something memorable, she doesn't rely on elaborate staging to have something good. She dances (waving your hand a bit doesn't count) and sings at the same time while still keeping her voice quality. Granted, she has a weaker voice, but it doesn't suffer under her movement like it did with Finland for example.
I was really impressed with Hovi Star tonight although I did not give him much chance before. Jamala is a true contender to win the whole contest and I really hope that she will. She was amazing. Apart from these two I would also throw in Bulgaria, Spain and France to my top 5 in no particular order. Thanks!

I thought Jamala did an amazing job a delivered a top-notch performance, I just thought Dami blew everyone (including the entire first Semi) out of the water vocally. I was pretty sold on Australia coming in but I was totally shocked by how strong the live vocals and staging were.
Israel was fantastic, I was impressed with Ukraine, Serbia, and Belgium. I have to knock Australia on their performance tonight. Dami's voice was drowned out by her backing vocals a couple times on the live stream, her performance was good, but they need to work on that. I think Saturday is going to be awesome!!! Can't wait to see it here in Texas!!

Bulgaria won it for me. I just love Poli, I'd love to think she actually won the Semi but I doubt it. Ukraine was great. Jamala deserves a high place on Saturday but I just don't see it as a winner. I think this is leaving the win wide open for Russia this year. Everything else I expected. Georgia qualified because of their staging - which I don't have a problem with. If Eurovision was just about the song then we'd be listening to it on the radio. Visuals matter. Lithuania was my biggest surprise. I hate the song. But that staging was epic. You can't deny that. Bulgaria was incredible I loved Poli's energy, clothing and overall the whole performance was mesmerizing! The song is pretty catchy and it's good that she kept the Bulgarian in it.
I'm more happier with the semi 2 qualifiers than I am with the semi 1 but I'm so sad for Belarus, Denmark, Slovenia (they were in my top 10). And OFC I am gutted for Ireland as its my country. But I'm so happy for Bulgaria and Georgia! Belgium also really impressed me and I know my family loved Belgium. Lithuania also really impressed me as well as Latvia. Ukraine has grown on me too. In fact a lot of countries really impressed me last night even Australia (which was my last of the semi haha). I could go on and on at what I loved as it was such a great show! Semi2 winner is Ukraine. I think. I would replace Belarus to Lithuania. I might not like the Belarussian song but Ivan slayed that hologram effect. Donny's charisma on the other hand was not present compare to his 2012's act. I am delightful to see Georgia to the Grand Finals. My fingertips are sore for voting to them. Well done! 👏👏👏

This was actually a tough semi final. I thought a lot of songs were borderline qualifiers in context with one another. There were like 15 out of 18 songs that I could have seen in the grand final, maybe more? haha

It was a great show this evening. The second semi-final was for me stronger than the first one. I'm also quite happy with the results : Loved the voice of Justs (Latvia), it was a powerful opening, Jamala (Ukraine) and the staging of Donny (Lithuania), Ivan (Belarus) and Hovi (Israel). Liked also the message of Hovi Star in the qualifiers press conference. And finally I'm very happy for Laura (Belgium) : congratulations, You did it girl !!!!

I would replace Georgia and Belgium with Norway and Belarus. The other 8 I predicted correctly. Really shocked only that Iceland, Norway, and Belarus did not qualify. The other 17 were my picks.
What I hate is that in spite of EBU prohibiting this song festival being used for a political agenda some countries still break this rule. As Romania was disqualified because it was not paying its dues to the EBU I think both Ukraine and Armenia should likewise be disqualified - one for having a song with a political message (which I agree with but which I cannot condone because this is not the right platform to advertise politics) and the other for waving a flag of an area which is at the centre of an international dispute.. This competition is to be used to bring people together and not to divide them more.
I really want Ukraine to win, She's been my favorite since Ukrainian national selection, however I think it will be just like last year... Everyone wanted Italy to win and the prove of that is the tele-voting but Sweden won because of the overall... This year will be the same between Russia & Ukraine. I'm not so much of a Sergey fan but to be honest, I don't see any other than Russia winning. :( So, I guess it will be Sochi 2017
Another shock! I really expected Norway to qualify and Georgia not to. Wow, this year is one of the strongest years in ages! there was just great performances vocally last night, Poland pleasantly surprised me and now I see how he managed to beat Margaret in the national selection, I actually really liked Latvia and thought Justs really gave it his all, Israel was vocally perfect, LOVED Serbia, staging was great, performance was great, just flawless! but the stand out of the night for me was Ukraine! wow, Jamala HAS to win! she HAS to! vocally breathtaking, it's just hauntingly beautiful, the pure emotion she puts into it, the screams and the high notes just wow. I can't wait for tomorrow night!

It was all about his voice, emotions and soul the same as Jamala. If this is eurovision SONG contest, it must be about the song and voice, not stage stuff, as everybody says.
I know I sound bias being from Australia lol but Damis voice blew it out of the water! And the crowd went wild for her! Yeah she was a little off queue with the visuals, I'm not sure how that works though; whether it's more to do with whoever is controlling the technology or what. Anyway, I'm least concerned about that! I'm glad she survived that box! I hope Dami is looking after her voice; Maybe it's only me but I noticed a few parts towards the end; don't get me wrong she's extremely talented but it seemed she was straining her voice just a tad. I did see a video the other day, she was saying she got a sore. Anyway I really want her to win! I'm curious what would happen if she did! I have a feeling it'll be Russia winning but I want to be surprised! As much as Russia's staging is impressive, on the flip side I think it makes Sergey focus maybe bit much on the technology..I don't know like the song is great, he is talented but I'm wondering taking the technology away would he beat Dami? i'm sorry but Lithuania staging was amazing .. the staging matched the dynamic of the song and the floor was really freaking good. it was my favourite from the baltics this year and now after the live preformance it hard to deny that he was the best out of the three .
i was legit praying for norway the entire time and when they got to the tenth qualifier my heart slowly stopped beating and when petra said "be-" i turned off my computer
I am not a fan of Bulgaria's song; however I think she may have won the day. Her confidence and playfulness were perfect, and she truly seemed to be having fun. She knows how to invite an audience in. Ukraine and Australia were my 2nd and 3rd best. Lithuania surprised me; I thought his live performance was fun, and he sang it well. I also think Lithuania's youthfulness hurt Ireland's chances. By comparison, Byrne's movements felt sluggish. Likewise Belgium's energy and dance moves brought great energy to the competition. I'm rooting for Poland, but he seemed to let his nerves get the better of him. Latvia was another surprise; I expected to not like it, but his frenetic energy seemed to take on a spirit of its own. Israel's was the first performance of the night that I knew needed to make it into the finals. Serbia also made a strong showing. Ukraine is still my number one, although I hope her genuine emotion does not overwhelm her incredible vocals- which I think happened in the semis. I picked 9 of the 10 qualifiers, which was a total surprise to me. Georgia was in my bottom three. I think FYR Macedonia has a beautiful voice, but she over sang the song. As far as Norway.. she's absolutely beautiful. But other than her belting of the lyric "I'll be your Ice breaker," the song lacks any memorable melody. In fact, even after hearing it so many times, I can't remember what the rest of the song sounds like.
+EURO VIZ USA YAY -- Also, I hope the exclusion of Finland, Denmark, and Norway in the finals doesn't mean these countries will all automatically unload 12 points onto Sweden's entry. It's not a very good song.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?: People here in Australia are saying that Eurovision is becoming too commercialised, and that our (Australia's) involvement is adding to that trend. In Australia, we watch Eurovision was because its fun and interesting and kitschy, but this year seems a slightly less interesting and very commercial.

I really want Ukraine to win, She's been my favorite since Ukrainian national selection, however I think it will be just like last year... Everyone wanted Italy to win and the prove of that is the tele-voting but Sweden won because of the overall... This year will be the same between Russia & Ukraine. I'm not so much of a Sergey fan but to be honest, I don't see any other than Russia winning. :( So, I guess it will be Sochi 2017

Another shock! I really expected Norway to qualify and Georgia not to. Wow, this year is one of the strongest years in ages! there was just great performances vocally last night, Poland pleasantly surprised me and now I see how he managed to beat Margaret in the national selection, I actually really liked Latvia and thought Justs really gave it his all, Israel was vocally perfect, LOVED Serbia, staging was great, performance was great, just flawless! but the stand out of the night for me was Ukraine! wow, Jamala HAS to win! she HAS to! vocally breathtaking, it's just hauntingly beautiful, the pure emotion she puts into it, the screams and the high notes just wow. I can't wait for tomorrow night!

Kunoichi thank you so much, I am very proud of Justs, and I am happy, that he didnt need any stage effects to fill the stage and his performance. It was all about his voice, emotions and soul the same as Jamala.

I know I sound bias being from Australia lol but Damis voice blew it out of the water! And the crowd went wild for her! Yeah she was a little off queue with the visuals, I'm not sure how that works though; whether it's more to do with whoever is controlling the technology or what. Anyway, I'm least concerned about that! I'm glad she survived that box! I hope Dami is looking after her voice; Maybe it's only me but I noticed a few parts towards the end; don't get me wrong she's extremely talented but it seemed she was straining her voice just a tad. I did see a video the other day, she was saying she got a sore. Anyway I really want her to win! I'm curious what would happen if she did! I have a feeling it'll be Russia winning but I want to be surprised! As much as Russia's staging is impressive, on the flip side I think it makes Sergey focus maybe bit much on the technology..I don't know like the song is great, he is talented but I'm wondering taking the technology away would he beat Dami? Or would he still be predicted to win? I think Armenia also got a good chance of making the top 5. I love the visuals and song.

the staging matched the dynamic of the song and the floor was really freaking good.
it was my favourite from the baltics this year and now after the live preformance it hard to deny that he was the best out of the three .

i was legit praying for norway the entire time and when they got to the tenth qualifier my heart slowly stopped beating and when petra said "be-" i turned off my computer
I am not a fan of Bulgaria's song; however I think she may have won the day. Her confidence and playfulness were perfect, and she truly seemed to be having fun. She knows how to invite an audience in. Ukraine and Australia were my 2nd and 3rd best. Lithuania surprised me; I thought his live performance was fun, and he sang it well. I also think Lithuania's youthfulness hurt Ireland's chances. By comparison, Byrne's movements felt sluggish. Likewise Belgium's energy and dance moves brought great energy to the competition. I'm rooting for Poland, but he seemed to let his nerves get the better of him. Latvia was another surprise; I expected to not like it, but his frenetic energy seemed to take on a spirit of its own. Israel's was the first performance of the night that I knew needed to make it into the finals. Serbia also made a strong showing. Ukraine is still my number one, although I hope her genuine emotion does not overwhelm her incredible vocals- which I think happened in the semis. I picked 9 of the 10 qualifiers, which was a total surprise to me. Georgia was in my bottom three. I think FYR Macedonia has a beautiful voice, but she over sang the song. As far as Norway.. she's absolutely beautiful. But other than her belting of the lyric "I'll be your Ice breaker," the song lacks any memorable melody. In fact, even after hearing it so many times, I can't remember what the rest of the song sounds like.
+EURO VIZ USA YAY -- Also, I hope the exclusion of Finland, Denmark, and Norway in the finals doesn't mean these countries will all automatically unload 12 points onto Sweden's entry. It's not a very good song.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?: People here in Australia are saying that Eurovision is becoming too commercialised, and that our (Australia's) involvement is adding to that trend. In Australia, we watch Eurovision was because its fun and interesting and kitschy, but this year seems a slightly less interesting and very commercial.

Hi Deban, yes I was shoked Norway did not get through. I hope shes ok. She was one of my favourites. Ireland should of got through. I love belgium. I think that this year the bookies are going to get it wrong. This is one of the strongest years I have seen.
