You’re quietly confident in your comments and driving ability…
I liked the little joyful chuckles with each wagging acceleration… reminded me of my 1970 Blazer in Low range.
(Back then when mentioning my Blazer people thought a new sport coat) my first 4 wheel drive vehicle.
After several Wagoneers and another Blazer, I am trading
my current Forrester XT for my newly arrived Black OBW next
    week.
    Your video, & Driving SportsTV,
Present a solid knowledgeable overview of a vehicles capabilities - gained through your hands on experience -
Not parroting the many wannabe car guys.
    It’s refreshing thanks

Topher, you keep mentioning the infotainment and not getting the big screen. You can't get a non-large-infotainment unless you buy the base model. EVERY trim above the base model comes with that screen. The $1800 package gets you built in nav, moon roof and reverse automatic braking

Awesome review. of a truly unique and wonderfully engineered car. Marvelous video. Perhaps this is the only Outback turbo review which does not trash the CVT. Rather, this video commends the CVT, which makes this review real. The CVT gives a fabulous driving experience in the turbo versions of the Outback (Wilderness, Onyx XT and Touring XT). Subaru dealers, you would be wise to take note of "The Topher's" work and show this video to your customers. Enough cannot be said about how accurate, well thought out and enjoyable this video is. Terrific camera work. The train in the background at the end was downright artistic. Well done and strong work Topher. Thank you.
R.Henry, M.D. (Outback Onyx XT owner)

I've been really geeking out over these wilderness outbacks. Considering one of these to replace our "little-hatchback-that-could-but-not-for-much-longer" family hauler! Im sure the onyx will also work for us just as well.

I just do not believe this can be that much capable than a even a regular outback, minus the obv higher ground clearance.
However, 1 grand n u can lift any outback higher than this by a little.
      So theres that.
I can care less about modes. I never use em anyway.
I love this car n im only knocking it because of the price n thats it.
In general vehicles are so overpriced so im not knocking subaru alone here.
Its just for 40 plus grand, there are new, new, rubicons to be bought off of the showroom floor.
Ur gonna say, they're 50 grand.
They can be bought for just over 40, many examples, still, up to last month for a fact that i can prove have sold.
So thats only for the person who wants a real offroader, this obv isnt.
None the less, i love subaru n have an outback.
A 2010, i got recently with a 100k miles n got it for 5500 bucks cash from a local seller n im happy with it.
But i do not believe id be even remotely happy if i had paid more than that tbh. To think someone paid 26k for that back then n it wasnt the highest trim either.
The regular Subaru's haven't increased in price in a while much, n this is a way for subaru to demand more from the lower trim cars n its mire about that than anything else.
I see the fine details others dont pay attention to.
      Regardless i like it.

I chose this over the regular outback not because of the lift or anything but I just prefer the look of the wilderness over the boring regular outback, at least in my opinion.

Whipping around in the beginning around @2:50 - This is the first time I have seen adaptive headlights moving with the wheel. Looks awesome, could see how this can become one of those "never can live without again" features in future cars. Also Subaru, come 2025, if you want to make outbacks the perfect vehicle, let the rear glass open separate like old school body on frame SUVS - so much easier to haul long cargo. Could even figure a way to make 4x8 sheet goods fit out the rear somehow. Trucks would become obsolete. Good work Topher.

To Subaru’s credit this whole Wilderness trim idea is a good one. Here in the NW there are tonsssssss of Outbacks and Crosstreks running around with modifications like this (lift, knobbier tires, body cladding, etc). Just wish they’d dial in the CVT tuning a little bit more and add some more physical controls to supplement the touchscreen.

    • @johnfrantz5885

However, just got the factory firmware update, and the controls that were annoying in the 11.6” are larger and more accessible. I just wish for the expensive wilderness trim, they would have included the Harman Kardon system

The one thing about the OBW is that it has a real regular spare tire instead of the donut. It is the only Subaru with the real spare tire.
Subaru needs to change out the white fog lights the suck. The white fog lights reflect the light in rain and especially in snow conditions,
Subaru needs to go with the yellow fog lights.
By the way the snow you are in is nothing try it in about a foot or 2 feet of snow.

Way back in 2013, the Outback had a widespread problem of batteries going dead. But by 2014...it was still happening. Finally in 2015...it was still happening. But then in 2016...it was still happening. However, by 2017...it was still happening. It also happened in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. But Subaru finally found the official cause- the customers weren't driving their cars enough. All this time it was the customers' fault. What a company!

My 2012 Outback is a dinosaur compared to this car's snow handling technology, but slap snow tires on it and it is a winter beast.
