Another point with ILF bows is that you can string the bow with the limbs slightly too far out and you then have to twang the string a little to bed the limbs correctly. If you don't then you get a real 'crack' when you fire your first shot which can't be good for the bow (or the nerves of those standing near you).
I've been asked that question many times at the club, when I explain to them it's supposed to be that way, I can see the disbelief and doubt in their face and tone of voice. You're right most are used to the Cartel or Samick Sage screw on limbs.
If only I had known about this when my brand ILF limb/riser combo had arrived at my local shop a month ago, lol. They deal mostly with compound stuff so there was much head scratching going on til we found the right video. Love your vids Nu!
I just assembled my daughter's first ILF bow last night and this was surprising to me. My first instinct was to tighten down the tiller bolt. I'm glad I didn't🙃 Thanks for the info!
Very nice! cheers mate, I just got my first new ilf bow and the limbs are little bit loose. as the riser is topoint and the limbs cartel. I thought I had made a mistake in buying riser and limbs from different brands.
I just bought a bow, it has ilf limbs. As you show, there is a gap between raisers and limbs. After string the bow, i did an empty shot, bowstring came loose with much wobble noise. And I can not tighten the bold of limbs, they are already all way tight
Both of my sets of Wiawis limbs were so tight new that I thought there was something wrong with them. After attaching them a few times they loosened up a little bit , but the set I still have is still pretty snug after countless cycles of assembling and disassembling the bow.
Please note that the limbs will come out if your string breaks, and go charging up the field, so keep your string in good condition, and if you get an unusual amount of string stretch, cut the thing! Better kill a worn out string than damage Your limbs!
I just bought a new ilf bow. After around 20 - 30 shoots, the bolt started loosened on its own (I have already tightened the bolt). Please help me, Sensei 🙏🏼
Please I beg!! NUSensei do a review of the Bodnik Bearpaw Pentathlon shadow ilf bow Your videos have taken me from being a passive subscriber to an active archer looking for a bow.
Hi NU sensei, great reviews. Im getting into archery, maybe a stupid question for many, beg my ignorance. Can the limbs on an ILF be taken on and off everytime I go to the range, without having to tune them in everytime?
Hey Dude - try the "RAT" system. R - repeatable form, A - aiming, T - tuning. When starting out (first few years) just concentrate on getting good form. May you enjoy your journey.
Hey Nu, (A little off-topic here) just wondering why you look at the bow while stringing it in the video at 1:38. I've been told that you should look away from the bow just in case something snaps back at hits you that way you don't get hit in the eye. Is that a good safety precaution or just unnecessary?
TBH stringing should ALWAYS be done using a stringer. I know of several archers who are lucky not to have lost an eye using this method. In the UK we ONLY teach stringing using a stringer.
Hi NUSensei, Sorry but this question is off topic from this "Loose Limbs" video. Anyway....Did the American Indians really shoot bows & arrows while mounted on a horse or is that Hollywood? If they did, did they shoot like the Mongolians or Turks? What kind of bows did they use? Just wondering if there was some kind of East Asian influence because all that I've seen in books & TV is that they shot Mediterranean style. If they did shoot in a Mediterranean style, how did they learn it before the Europeans arrived because they had to have been hunting bison and other big game already?
So is the limb being loose b4 stringing an intentional part of the design that has some physics purpose that makes this type bow superior performance choice? Thx
It just means its very easy and fast to attach and detach without even needing tools, and the simple reason that it has no NEED to be attached tightly, when the string and bolt will take care of that once you string the bow.
@@NUSensei i doubt that, a solid fit could easily made - it is for adjustability reasons, if the limb is pressed against the tiller adjustment bolt you have only one fixed point to worry about and it has no load if the bow is unstrung since it is separated from the locking pin
Why? Before someone invented the bow stringer, how do you think it was accomplished? Just like he demonstrated and just how I string my lighter poundage bows.
Thanks for answering a question that is surprisingly hard to find an immediate answer for.
Thank you for this. I just bought a new bow with IFL, which I have never used before. This makes me feel a lot more at ease.
This makes sense, but why are MY limbs loose?
Because you did the proper stretches before you started.
Because they're broken? :D
Much appreciation I was a little paranoid at first.
just looking at getting my first ilf and honestly i am the type to have worried about this, probably just saved me a lot of panic !
THANK YOU ! I just unpacked a new ILF bow and freaked out because of the movement :-)
and here i am, with my brand new riser and limb.. worried what's wrong. thanks sensei!

Phew I can stop worrying now. Thx. Going to set up my bow further

OMG did you just use your leg to string the bow?!!!!!!
I was just wondering that I just bought the Mandarin duck lif raider bow and the limbs are very loose.
Thank you, very much !
Cheers for the video, I was in a bit of a panic for a second there!!

Your limbs!
Did you mean if string snap cause the string severe worn ...the limbs gonna detached off the riser...?
1:18 does it normal to easy to remove? Mine is easy to remove it
Thank you!
Thank You so much for making this video!!!

Always helpful NUSensei thank you,I'm good to go 😂
Please I beg!! NUSensei do a review of the Bodnik Bearpaw Pentathlon shadow ilf bow
Your videos have taken me from being a passive subscriber to an active archer looking for a bow.
I can only review bows I have access to.
Is the same true for the Bear Takedown limbs/TD riser?

Can i use limp example, limp for 22" riser to 17" riser
When is the q and a
What if the bow with bolt were loose?
thank you for this, but when I try to string the bow the lower limb just fall off do you know why?
Me too...do you know how to fix it?
Thanks
TQ nusensei

Since the loose end of the string was already on the limb, the chances of it coming off and hitting you are minimal.

CAn we talk about how easily you just strung that bow?! Didnt even wrap your leg around it... wtf is this magic?!
Great vid...
Doesn't this result in a lot of rattling or other noise when shooting?
Marc Züst
From what I noticed, I haven’t had much rattle with my bow, as it’s very stable when strung
Marc Züst the tension of the string is strong enough not to make the limbs rattle after shooting
My bow is rattling which is why im here sooo did u find out why?
@@adeebshaghlil5207 I'm not an expert but did you set the brace height of the string correctly?
thank you sir
So is the limb being loose b4 stringing an intentional part of the design that has some physics purpose that makes this type bow superior performance choice? Thx
It's just ease of attachment. Saves from having to manually screw and unscrew the limb bolts.
@@NUSensei Oh they're just being kind. Nice. Thx😊
It just means its very easy and fast to attach and detach without even needing tools, and the simple reason that it has no NEED to be attached tightly, when the string and bolt will take care of that once you string the bow.
there is also the functions of the bolts themself , adjusting them up and down for tiller and poundage , a function you don't get on the fixed limbs
@@NUSensei i doubt that, a solid fit could easily made - it is for adjustability reasons, if the limb is pressed against the tiller adjustment bolt you have only one fixed point to worry about and it has no load if the bow is unstrung since it is separated from the locking pin
Does bad arrow affects the accuracy?
Yes,arrows are more important than the bow is in accuracy
Ichiban! :)
Sensei? Senseless!!
Last video of yours that I will watch.
Yoga
stringer bad example
Sometimes i feel imagined u look like a granny ... i should stop using this pills imo ... granny give them
You are teaching people to NOT use a bow stringer?? How dumb!

@@NVArt001 Ok,you know everything. When WAS the bow stringer invented? Proof?
Do not really care if you take your eye out or twist your limbs.Mine cannot twist as I only us Uukha and they have the stiffest torsional limbs.
@@toxy1948 Do your own research you lazy fuck.
Thanks
