I have owned a Canon G1X since new. I mainly used it at bodybuilding shows. Needed 2 batteries to last a day. Auto focus was slow. But the picture quality was great. I’ve had photos from it published in magazines, newspapers and tv. But I was forced to downgrade to a G3X with a 1 inch sensor as in video mode you don’t get manual control. Then eventually the main tool is now an iPhone 12 Pro Max if I get to shoot from the front row.
Hello Sergio. My G1X lens has a small dust spot in exactly the same place as yours. I watched your live hack here but I don't know how you removed the very first piece before reaching the screws underneath. Should it be pulled by levering it with a spatula or should it be unscrewed (this seems difficult). THANKS !
Thanks for the video, I was looking for exactly the same thing, a car camera. After watching your video i bought a G1X, managed to find a mint one, I am absolutely blown away with the quality of the images, they are so pleasing, haven't touched my X-T5 since picking it up. I think it may become more than just a car camera.
I picked one up on eBay for 100 bucks after watching your video, and it actually blows my RX100 M5 out of the water and gives my X100S a run for the money. Might be the best 100 bucks I've ever spent lol... and I'm not afraid of taking it out in the rain or knocking it around. The fully articulating screen is actually super dope, allowing for creative compositions previously not possible. I don't even know which camera to take on a trip anymore haha.
Since I got mine, I saw a rise in price as well, good ones sell sometime for over $200🤔 It is a great bang for the buck, the only better one is probably the G1X Mark III, but that's too much money for me to spend on a camera to keep in the car 😅
Old post, I know, but a great one! I bought G11s in London the day they came out. A few years later, picked up a G1X secondhand. I thought I had outgrown it (now have an RX100 Mk VII) but I haven't. It still is great for web photos, portraits, and anything else if it's the handy one (like when I'm shooting video with the Sony). Well done.
Just found your channel, I’m curious about my first camera this g1x bought it when i was grade 7, but still don’t know how to deal with it now. Your review is good and the picture really nice. Never thought that this old one can take pictures like that.
Thanks🙌🏼 Yeah, it’s still a capable camera, I keep it in the car all the time, now no shot can be missed (even sometimes it’s kind of dangerous to drive and take pictures😅)

AV, ❤️ your style & the gorgeous still images. I used & abused my G10 for a long time. The images & color I get from it are sharp & beautiful. Unfortunately, the lens motor is jammed. The GX1 looks promising in the future. Thank you for posting. 👍🏼✌🏼
It is a point and shoot after all, so it is designed to be used intuitively, I think you won't have a problem. Street photography is gonna be OK but keep in mind the slower aperture on these - so all is fine as long as you shoot in sufficient light, so don't expect to get great results for night stuff
@@SergioMusel Yeah i know, that makes me think about be ready to shoot 🤔, im not going to use this camera at night just when i could find the right light for these. Thanks for comment 💫
Dude. The quality of...everything...is incredible.
Keep it up!
Thanks a lot, will do my best!🙏
Refreshing representation. Love your style.
Thank you!🙌🏻

I've owned a G1X for 10 years. It's still my go to low light camera. 👍🏻

Hi, should be pulled by levering. You can see at 8:57 the openings on the sides, try picking in that areas with a toothpick or something similar
Your are super kind … really o_O thank you so much. Keep up your super vidéo. I like your “flow”

Love my G1X camera, the style, the full metal body and photos quality.
G1X what a nice clock. 😍
I literally found it out by accident while filming 😅😂 I have now a clock idea for IKEA👌
Loooove your shots. You got a good eye
Thanks!
Still love my old G1X
Me too✌️
Very nice pictures you’ve taken with this camerap maan. Nice review!
Thanks a ton!👍
Adding this to my p&s lineup which includes canon sx40hs & s100.

even the focus is abit bad it works and the stabilitation is great for 100bucks u cant beat it
Brought my parents one of these... only because their 2004 flip phones didn't take photos anymore lol
It's great we can find some use for these cams even now 😂
I loved my g1x and i used it until the screen died from high altitude :(
Yeah, cameras don't live forever 🥲
Hi, nice video, I have this camera can you please create a tutorial on how I can turn this into a streaming cam. thanks.
Thanks😁 Unfortunately, I have no idea how to make it a streaming cam, it has both HDMI and USB, so just try the camlink or something similar👍
I found one for 80$ i will buy it
New sub, this is so goood
Welcome 🤜🤛
After 3 weeks i Finally getting one! Do you still have yours?
@@cesarazoia6541 Still have it in my car👌
AV - Do you think this camera would be good for taking images of indoor NHL hockey games? Thanks!
I'm afraid for indoor sports it would be too slow
@@SergioMusel How about if I only took "still" photos when there was a break in play, not action?
@@scottthompson5263 Can do I guess, at higher ISO👌
