The biggest test of the little FB Mondial "Grand Challenge" bike, to date! A full lap of the TRF Trail, open to all Enduros and Adventure bikes (and anything else, including Cafe Racers with knobbly tyres 👀) at Adventure Bike Rider Festival 2023
Would it keep up? Would it be able to tackle the bogs and the ditches designed for Enduro bikes? I wasn't sure, but I did know that it was going to be fun to find out!
This was my first lap of the weekend, so everything was a surprise. There were a couple of minor repairs required along the way. Nothing a cable tie couldn't fix.
The bike and I survived and continued to do about 8 or 9 laps over the course of the weekend. Had a great time at the festival. Thanks to the @ABRmagazine crew for putting on a great weekend. Great to catch up with @nathanthepostman , meet some of the other Grand Challengers and hear all about @TheGirlOnABike 's adventures in the Master Class tent and see those awesome Rally machines, up close!
To recap, I'm taking part in The Grand Challenge, a bit of fun and a good excuse for adventure, dreamed up and organised by Nathan Millward, who is well known for his bike tours and Postie Bike Adventure Days.
My bike is an FB Mondial HPS 125 (No, I'd never heard of them before, either...) It's had a big hit to the left hand side.
Join the fun whilst I try and figure out all the stuff that's wrong with it, take it on interesting adventures and knowing my tendency to get carried away, probably make it the most expensive cheap bike in the challenge....

Yep, I whimped out and took the bypass.......I reckon I'd have ended up being stuck in that bog on the AT, .... would probably still be there now😂
Haha I got stuck in the bog on mine last year but just managed to unstick myself. This year, on my last lap, I went into the big bog straight after the ATVs and got fully sunk to above my knees. A kind hearted passer by helped me pull the bike out for another attempt and a different line saw success (and waterproof boots and socks completely filled with mud 😂)
