I bought a unit thanksgiving weekend. It made keeping home and business separate and so much easier. And I did it because I went down the TikTok rabbit hole too lol

The unit I'm looking at they allow packages to be delivered to the unit you just put in the address and unit number just like an apartment. I can manage my packages and they could accept them for me and put it in my unit for me. Idk how comfortable you are with that but see if your unit company does that if interested.

Yes. Our facility allows for packages to be delivered. We have quite a few business who “operate” or “store” inventory from their units. I don’t receive a bunch of inventory but for those that do it’s such a wonderful and convenient idea.

Have you had any issues with mice or rats? I rented out 2 units (10x20) and one of mine had mouse droppings after a few months. The storage company has been solid taking care of it and we caught the mouse, but I am so spooked. When you are carrying thousands of dollars of inventory- its a real thing to think about!
I haven’t had any issues with mice, rats or other pests. Maybe a spiderweb or two. Often rats and mice are looking for food which I don’t store or eat in my unit. If it’s an issue within the facility then yes they should take care of it. I’d be spooked too though… I can’t do no critters!
How do you manage deliveries? Does the unit come with an address you can use for incoming and outgoing deliveries?
@@zion7885 I don’t receive deliveries but the manager on site told me there are some people who do. They just deliver to you at the unit like you would if you were moving in. Idk about after hours deliveries. Hope that helps. 🫶🏾

Hi there. I actually never worried about it. We are required to have locks on our units. I have two. Also the storage facility is gated with a keypad entry as well as security cameras on the premises. So it’s never really been a thought. Been here for 2 years now and haven’t had any issues. Also out door units are cool since they are drive up and you can chill by ur car or be cooling in the air etc.
No. Dust and dirt can get inside, more insects. Your inventory won't stay clean, especially if it's stored by the entrance of your unit.
How do you tell if a storage company allows businesses to be run in their storage rooms? Also which ones allow it?
You can’t “run” a business technically but you can store your business things and spend time in your unit- packing orders for example. You can’t have people physically coming to the unit. Simply call around and ask. I was very upfront with my storage managers.
Big question how do you get electricity?
I used a portable generator. I got it on amazon. It has a couple of plugs, usb ports, c-type and other things plus a built in light. Also some units if they are indoor will have light. :)

I got a small generator from Amazon it has a light and 2 plug outlets as well as usb outlets and type c.

How did you manage to get wifi? I want to get a unit to have a gaming or streaming space but worried about sound proofing and internet.
I would just use my hotspot for internet when I needed it but I mostly wasn’t using a lot of internet, more so the space itself.
Same here my signal is pretty weak with the T-Mobile printable modem I need that Fiber optic stuff lol
Good stuff! You could also get a light outlet plug for the light which allows for plugging a extension cord. Some units also have a outlet. Just call around . Some units at public storage have 2 outlets in the bigger units.

You’d need to have a portable hot spot.
