      I assembled a MD Juan Wrangler replica in 1995. I still have it and now converting it to a California style. But at almost 70 years old, I cannot put in long hours anymore.

    Dude the copper coloured jeep is a post war farm jeep. It’s got the pto in the rear for attachments for farming. Willys marketed these jeeps to farmers like tractors basically. Super cool to see

    I'm 57 and from Nagaland, India, and I grew up around these Willys Jeeps. I currently own a 1963 Willys CJ 5 M38A1 (US Marine Corps Edition). Sadly I can no longer obtain the parts for the engine, transmission and differentials. So I've swapped all the running parts and installed Mahindra diesel engine, transmission and diffs.

    • @1978garfield
      @1978garfield ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Diesel swap Jeeps are amazing!
      A popular swap in the US is a 4 cly Cummins engine.
      Mahindra used to be a contractor of Willys so that is a perfectly acceptable swap IMHO.

    As someone else pointed out Clint at C&C Equipment knows a guy who sells all the sheet metal to rebuild jeeps newly pressed in the Philippines....and if I'm not mistaken Clint carries some jeep body panels himself, these cars are so rare now it might be a good idea to get all those parts you have and refab and renovate them and advertise them for sale, it could repay what you paid for the whole job lot and then some, ha ha in two or three years time you might even become known as the go to Mr Jeep lol..

    Wow Matt, so much to unpack in this one. First the military one with out the floor is an M 38. The red one is the civilian version of the M38a1, called a CJ5. Its am 81 inch wheel base
    A CJ6 has a 110 inch wheel base. One of those other may actually be a rare Tuxedo Park version. The one with th shifter on the column. As far as nodoby needing 6 jeeps, i beg to differ, at one time i have had over 20 in my possession. Still have two. Those parts could be a gold mine. Any future updates on them will be gladly watched. Be careful, JEEPs are very addicting.

    • @-oiiio-3993
      @-oiiio-3993 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tuxedo Park models were CJ5a, introduced in 1961, and CJ6A models of model years 1966 - 68 (less than 500 CJ6A produced).
      Flatfendered Jeeps with column shift were the ultra rare CJ2 'Agri-Jeeps' of 1945 and early production CJ2A of 1945 - 46.

    tell yeah honestly when those jeeps were new they were awesome .its when the engines got old they were worth a damn.even rebuilt after 500 miles or so
    the engines started
    burning oil again.the engines got so bad hinges were added to
    the front grill so an engine swap could be
    done quicker.my brother put a chevy 2 154.about 80 hp.early. chevy 2 nova looked like the 250 only it was 4 cylinder .
    Engine in his added a swap kit so it fit.it made twice the hp.totally different jeep.better then my cj3b for power.only fault i found was engine .liked it better than the landrover.
    There is a company i think in burnaby british columbia canada sell all kinds parts for the old wellys jeep.😂

    Hood and cowl of the „CJ5“ indicates it would actually be a M38A1 - there is the cutout on the right side of the hood for the fording kit and the hood for the additional battery box for the extra batteries to achieve 24V on the cowl - usually there should be the connector for jumpstarting the engine on the right side of the body but is missing. Also the headlights are the civilian version so either it is a transitional version of the M38A1 vs CJ5 or so or someone already changed parts of the body???? Anyway impressive find - especially the fact that one of them is actually still running …

    Those jeeps with the PTO on the back reminded me of an article I read some years back. After WWII the plethora of surplus jeeps were adapted to farming and light construction by a few companies that would make attachments for them. You scored big time with this deal.

    • @notajp
      @notajp ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, there was also a 3 point hitch that mounted in the bed for using mounted implements like plows. That PTO unit is fairly rare and highly desirable by collectors. After WW2, surplus jeeps were cheaper to buy than actual farm tractors, plus you could even drive the Jeep into town when you needed to.

      1945 and early 1946 CJ2A Jeeps had column shift as well as the ultra rare CJ2 'Agri Jeeps' of 1945 and 'Tuxedo Park' (CJ5A, CJ6A) editions of the 1960s.
      They were not produced in 1949.
