  • In 1968, Jane was a third grade teacher in Iowa and the woman behind the “Blue Eyes, Brown Eyes” experiment. Our 80-minute interview took place at her home in Sun City, California.
    Full book list in video:
    -Nile valley contributions to civilization by Browder
    -On Tyranny
    -Road to Unfreedom (both by Timothy Snyder)
    -The racial conditioning of our children by Rutstein
    -When At times the mob is swayed by Neuborne
    -Jeff Sharletts books: the family (which is narrated by him on Netflix right now, if you don’t want to read all those pages, but you should) and C-street
    -Indigenous People’s History of the United States by Ortiz
    -The system by Reich
    -The color of law by Rothstein
    -The End of America: Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot. Noami Wolf
    -Give Me Liberty: A Handbook for American Revolutionaries (2008). Noami Wolf
    The Myth Of Race - Robert Sussman
    A Collar in My Pocket - Jane Elliott
    Jane’s color wheel of #humanity was in a ‪@NatGeo‬ magazine.
    Definition: #Mercator projection, type of map projection introduced in 1569 by Gerardus Mercator. ... This projection is widely used for navigation charts, because any straight line on a Mercator projection map is a line of constant true bearing that enables a navigator to plot a straight-line course.
    Definition: “Peters Projection Map” Keep in mind, The #Gall-Peters map shows the correct sizes of countries, but it also distorts them. Countries are stretched horizontally near the poles and vertically near the Equator, so although the size may be right, the shape definitely isn't. It’s impossible to stretch the 3D sphere shape of the Earth onto a 2D sheet of paper. No matter which way it's done, there will always be a compromise somewhere on shape, size, direction, distance or scale.

    "If you want to make the world a more civilized place to live, then you better start educating the mothers and fathers and grandfathers of our children."
    This hit the mark. You can't just expect to teach children and have them form a worldview based on that knowledge, a bad home environment can easily unravel a rational mind and reinforce ignorant thought. You can't just teach the kid, you have to teach *everyone*.

    • @WarpPal

    • @josephschneider9
      @josephschneider9 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      100% correct. In 1960s, the children of then were the first to be taught the wrongs of segregation but they still had fathers and mothers who believed it was normal. Those children grew up and they too had children. Those children of the 60s are the baby boomers, who control a sizable amount of power in today's politics. Millennial's are two generations removed from the generation that was born and raised by those who believed the segregation was normal. The baby boomers are age regressing to a time that they believed was better (Make America Great Again) because of numerous health/economic reasons.

      @@PopularNation My meeting with Jane was not expected, but it was something that I have been wanting to do for quite some time- I just didn't know it would happen as I was just about to leave for home that day- and this took place back in November. I was able to recognize her immediately, but she was kind of surprised I was able to do so, since not many people in an airport can pay attention to others at times. Jane on the other hand, told me a lot about what she has faced in her lifetime, dating back to WWII and it was not one of the easiest times for her to live in, but none more so than reminiscing the days after King was shot. When we were discussing her 3rd graders, I told her that student "John" moved me deeply since being picked on at recess and when we talked about a girl who was kicked out of the exercise, she has told me that she cried for a long period of time and was deeply traumatized by all that she was learning from her and the exercise itself. I even told her that if you had taught me what you had taught them- the 3rd graders, in person, I would have been such a different person myself and wouldn't quite know how to thank her dearly; even she was amazed to hear me say those words. So yeah, the meeting with her was truly amazing, even though I wish it would've lasted for more than five minutes.

I was working on my sociology degree at the time, and had watched and studied her famous blue eyes/brown eyes experiment in nearly every class at that point.
    She’s undoubtedly a living icon and an absolute gem of a human. She welcomed perfect strangers into her home after one phone conversation with my friend. Her life’s work and passion is clearly to educate and improve humanity. I could have sat at that table and listened to her talk for hours.
    I hope she lives for many, many more years so that she has the opportunity to reach and improve even more lives. We need more people like Jane.

    I just found Elliott via twitter and watched two of her sessions and now this. At the end of the session with the US pupils she says something along the lines of "i will do this until racism is over, and im afraid I will do this until the day I die" knowing that despite all her lifes efforts, racism will survive her. In this video, at 8:00 i checked the upload date and i am so sorry and ashamed for the time i live in (im not even a US citizen) and for her to witness times like these.

We have mix races in this country and I am one and I love inheritance both from my parents. And I love that I am PNG girl.

    I love the differences in the human species! Our outward and inward differences are what has made us a viable animal. Our brain allows us to ponder and design, to create and emote. Science ends our branch of the life tree at species. (K,P,C,O,F,G,S) Science also has shown us that transplantation across our species, regardless of race and sex, is possible. We are all family. Thank you for teaching and inspiring!

      She is wrong on the maps. You can’t make a map without distortion. Mercator is ideal for navigation which is why it was popular. It is also the map Google uses.

    • @csigunner5087
      @csigunner5087 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Her map argument was an absolute joke. The Mercator map was made for nautical navigation, and it was so ahead of its time that it was practically outdated by the time technology was accurate enough for the maps proper use. But nontheless, her Pope argument is entirely nonsensical.

    • @Targetshooterscorner

      The Mercator gives an accurate shape of land masses. But a straight line on a Mercator is a curved line on the earth.

      @@melissinha73 - Sadly, many white people don't like her. They call her a racist and says she hates white people (even though she's white herself, was married to a white man for 58 years until he passed away, and has white children). They say her blue eye/brown eye experiment is psychologically damaging. Mind you, none of the kids endured being the group discriminated against for more than one day. I've always found it interesting that her critics claim a one day experiment was psychologically damaging to the kids, yet they have no problem with the fact that some people experience discrimination and racism day in and day out for their entire lives, without the luxury of waking up the next day and being told it was all just a social experiment.

    Jane Elliott, I met her once and I was thankful that I ever did so- she was even surprised to even see that I was able to recognize her, too. I have mentioned that her 3rd Grade Exercise has inspired me to not put others down for what their skin/eye color is, as well as be mindful of the certain circle that everyone should be in, involving race and such. Now, regarding these days surrounding what is going on about George Floyd and James Scurlock, she's reliving those days, just like how she did during WWII at a young age, the Civil Rights movement, and the King riots,- which is what made Elliott start her exercise to her students, and others moving forward. I would hope that she can manage to get through this one, and then hopefully share her thoughts about this, and therefore have other people look back at what she had taught her students, about race and prejudice at that time. Her lesson and other lessons like hers, are what we still need today- it must never be ignored. God Bless you, Jane.
