This was so cool... from the National Czech and Slovak Museum, to the eateries🤗, the art museum, Veterans museum, the mansion, Mt. Trashmore, the brewery... You and Pops ALWAYS give us such a great reflection, and highlights of the city you're touring. I totally enjoyed this.😁🎊👏🏻👏🏻
Nice! Spent my teen years in Cedar Rapids. Cruising First Avenue on Saturday nights, going to the skating rink, then pizza at Shakey's, Happy Joe's or Green Pepper. Great food all over town.
Long time fan of this channel and I'm laughing so hard to see you exploring where I was born and lived (and ESCAPED!). Honestly I'm never going to live there again but I know my family appreciates the good publicity. I'm very happy you had a good time.
We have a landfill in Danville, Indiana that we call Mt. Trashmore. It is still in use and getting larger all the time. It smells like methane gas around there a lot. I haven't been to Iowa but I enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent coverage for Cedar Rapids!! Great to see you in our neck of the woods. Glad you found Lion Bridge Brewery, a favorite of ours and Great American Brew Fest (GABF) awarded (multiple!). Come back again!
This is insane! You visited my home city! I knew most of where you went. I hope that was sarcasm about the crunch berry cereal joke. You were literally right there by THE Quaker Oats! Lol
That was great. I enjoy cultural museums, adding to list. I've traveled to several places in Iowa, never been to Cedar Rapids. Captian Crunch is my favorite cereal, I'd love to smell it in the air! 😂
Cool video. I'd travel between my home in Chicago and Iowa State University in Ames, and would occasionally take US 30 instead of I-80 but I never really stopped in Cedar Rapids. Of course, that was eons ago (1976-1981) and I'm sure Cedar Rapids has changed. 😂 Oh. There were a few Grant Wood murals on campus at ISU, too.
Really enjoy your journeys we your old man. Should you ever wish to take it international, specifically Scotland reach out in DMs. You would have a great time and have some superb content I can help with..
CrunchBerrys: One day a year? NO. One day a week where the downtown area smells of crunchberries. Of Grant Wood's art: You forgot the church sanctuary ornamented with many of his works (this is little known even in CR, but supposedly the "largest" of his built works). And speaking of Architecture: Louis Sullivan's People's Bank building. One of the first of his "Jewel Box" bank designs. And then there is the St. Paul's United Methodist Church where Louis Sullivan did much of the design work. Finally, one of Frank Lloyd Wright's final residential designs resides in Cedar Rapids. It is still privately owned and very difficult to see. Perhaps not one of his best works, but innovative in its own way. Getting back to those Crunchberries: QuakerOats, now owned by Pepsico, is one of the largest remaining cereal mills in the world (perhaps it is now the largest remaining cereal mill?). Of course, General Mills on the southwest side is also no slouch, but not as large. And past history: Arthur Collins and his Collins Radio Corporation whose radios enabled communications in World War II all the way through the Apollo project. Later becoming Rockwell Collins, and lately acquired by United Technologies (but still known locally as Collins). More past history: Iowa Manufacturing Company. Started by Howard Hall (that mansion you highlight). Iowa Manufacturing produced road building equipment, rock crushers and road pavers. Holder of the original patent for the standard 6" concrete curb found in most cities. Hall before his death also had his hands in the acquisition of local Amana Refrigeration Corporation, developers of the first microwave ovens ("Radar-range"). And of course, to us locals, "Cedar Rancid, the city of five smells". My grandfather, who owned a farm, would often respond to his grandkids complaining about the smell of the hoglot, "That's the smell of money". And Cedar Rapids has its smells.
is the Lincoln HWY just the 80? I have done that 15 years ago from SF to NY, don't remember this city on the way, but quite interesting how there is a Czech community there.
A lot of Czechs settled in the Midwest in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Willa Cather wrote My Antonia about them, and Dvorak wrote The American Quartet while staying with them.
The map room is definitely not one of the best places to eat in Cedar Rapids. It's decent but pretty pretentious. There's definitely better places to eat in town.

So glad you enjoyed it! I wanted to visit the cereal factory but it didn’t seem like a thing people do haha
As a long time follower of your channel, it is so cool to see you visiting my home state! Thanks for all the great content and Merry Christmas!
Thanks for following the channel for so long! We enjoyed exploring Iowa from what we got to see
I’m not a local, but I always enjoy exploring with you guys 😆🙌🏽
Appreciate you always watching the adventures!
I really enjoyed Cedar Rapids!
Was a fun city to explore!
I was here this summer.
I wish you go to Galesburg, IL and have a video about this town. I am going there next year. Thanks.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Sorry you missed The once largest cereal mill in the world,
Cedar Lake, and one of the only Urban Trout streams in the US.
Great tips! Will have to see those next time!

I would love to be there on that day as well haha
In Virginia Beach, we have a Mt. Trashmore. It’s prettier than the one in Cedar Rapids.

Oh that’s cool there were murals there as well!
Nice job y’all👍✅😉
Thank you 😁
There is a Mt Trashmore in Virginia Beach that has been there for many years
Oh wow I didn’t know there was more of them!
Really like these 24 hour videos. Do you actually only go for a day to these locations?
Yep. All of these videos have been just how we spent our one day there haha
🌍💚💙💙💚

Sounds awesome! Scotland is high on the list for sure

The two places they chose to eat are worse than any Mc D's.
Next time consider driving 20 miles south to the Amana Colonies.
