In Tom Petty’s “Runnin’ Down a Dream” he sings:
“ I had the he radio on.
    Me and Del we’re singin’
    Little Runaway
    I was flyin’ “.

@@brittneyking4284, Let me make a suggestion. If you haven't done so yet, I would like to recommend an artist for you to listen to. If you look on my TH-cam page, you will see lists of songs from as far back as the 50's. I love music (not a fan of much after the late 80s) This young lady turned 16 years old in January. I have been following her for over 6 years, and in my opinion, she sings with more feeling and emotion than anyone I've heard in my 68 years. She doesn't so much 'cover' songs, as uncovers them and gives them meaning. This is a list of songs (she has over 170 videos on TH-cam and all are on my page) that I give to new reactors that I feel show her abilities the best. From her first time in a studio to the present, these will give you a glimpse in to her ability. I should say, She won Norway's Got Talent at 8 years old (entered while still 7) and has done more than a lot of artists 3 or 4 times her age. She was signed to Republic Records at 14 to her terms, and now lives in Los Angeles. You can do a search if you would like to hear more, or go to my page on TH-cam, I have several playlists dedicated to her, that will answer any questions you might have. Oh, my mother was a HUGE Elvis fan, me not so much, possibly from hearing him all the time at home. LOL

I’m big fan of Del Shannon! He wrote his own lyrics and music and was an incredible songwriter. He was also innovative - his keyboardist Max Crook, with whom he wrote this song, invented the Musitron, a precursor to the analog synthesizer. He made it using spare parts from household appliances & televisions! That’s the sound you hear at 2:28.
Please also check out “Keep Searchin’ (Follow the Sun)” and his cover of Hank Williams Sr.’s haunting song “Ramblin’ Man”! Great stuff!

I love watching @JayveeTV react to these songs. He always seems to really enjoy them, and it takes me back too. I would have been 7 years old when this was recorded, and I'm sure I don't remember it from then, but I listened to it a lot just a few years later.

Listening to this great song 61 years one thing for sure Ill never get tired of it! Actually a special instrument was developed to create the cool groovy sound a Musitron an early development of the later synthesizer
Song was soooo popular it was selling 80 thousand copies a day for a few weeks, true story!

Always reminds of that two record collection set "jukebox jive" that we got from the early 80s commercial on TV with hits of the late 50s and early 60s, it had this song. I can remember my dad calling the number to order it. We managed to convince him to get it.

What's particularly interesting about this song, is that it features an early electronic instrument (the Musitron) that the keyboarder in this recording, Max Crook, invented himself. It was based on a 1947 French invention, the Clavioline. Those things were the forerunners of the synthesizer.
