I like this shifter. But having no D in ratchet mode seems weird. You get 1st and 2nd. And then gotta pull up on the lock and swing It all the way forward. Seem like alot if your drag racing.
I completely agree with what you are saying. However, the only difference from ratchet mode to D is the lock. I wish it were a bit more simple but after playing with it several times, it really is easy to get used to. And I definitely wouldn't recommend this shifter for drag racing. The occasional trip to the strip shouldn't be an issue.
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking here, I don't think it really needs lubricated but if that's something you're worried about a bit of white lithium grease should do the trick.
I'm assuming you're referring to the ratchet action of the shifter? I believe it's just an added feature since the standard mode works just fine. I didn't have a shifter to begin with and this was actually one of the cheaper options available.
i have one of these shifters, Ratchet mode does first, second and third gear. Then plunger to resume normal driving mode.

So I can use this one like normal P,R,N,D and just leave it in drive as normal
