  • The Fountaine Pajot MY4.S is a boat specifically designed for a cruising couple that wants to cruise in the 20-knot realm. With her low bridge clearance of 12.4’ (3.78 m), she’s ideal for the canals of Europe and certainly the North American Great Loop.
For our in-depth Captain’s Report, test data and more on the MY4.S, visit boattest.com/boat/fountaine-p...
Fountaine Pajot is having exclusive showcasing of their entire Motor Yacht range in La Rochelle, France: May 12-14, 2022. Attendees can sign up for private sea trials and a special tour of their La Rochelle Ship yard. For more information, visit: www.motoryachts-fountaine-paj...

I know the conditions are never under your control but these rough tests are the absolute best. Gives a better impression of what the boats capable of and gives Captain Steve an opportunity to lay some of his knowledge on us! Great review

I really liked captain's commentary on sea conditions and specific tips to handle this boat!

i really like the rough conditions test. i wish yall would do more in rougher waters. I know it doesnt look so nice for the camera lol but imo that is what really tests the vessels. Thank you Capt Steve!

We used to have trawler speed performance numbers before, many of us would be really interested how the range improves at 6-7 knot cruise...

Great video! Really like to see the performance in rough water. I'd LOVE to see the MY6 in rough waters, though I suspect it would handle much the same.

Needs 2 screens at least. Navigation, sonar, radar, engines, hotel... that's a lot for one screen.

Agreed, although it does appear at the top of the console there's room you could have additional screens added if you wanted.

Only Capt. 'Madman' Steve will call 4-7 foot seas fun. But then again, he is a REAL captain and not someone that got their license through a 6 hr course at the local yacht owners club and has experience as well. Some people will say catamarans are dangerous and they flip over. That used to be something leveled at only the sailing versions, but now I've heard it applied to the motor versions saying that a pocket of wind and rough seas will cause one to flip over backwards since all the weight is to the rear. But I don't think many owners would be taking their boats out in conditions like that, and the bigger ones, no chance.

I’d love to see you comparison reviews to compare direct competitors as well as different designs. Here, for example, a competing monohull in the same water at the same time would be great. Ccompeting power brands as well as competing drive tech;. I wish you’d give us the dimensions of every bunk, speaking as a 6’3” consumer. Show us wht it’s like to use a wet head…. Really. I’d like a review of realities of your business. Do mfrs blacklist reviewers for being critical? I like your experience but it seems to me you are playing to a model you know the market departments want - consistent, reliable and not too critical. Every business has conflicts of interest; few have the courage to talk about them.

We may start doing that in the future it really is a matter of time we are so busy testing - but in the meantime please visit boattest.com and use our comparison feature - you do this by first finding one boat and then you click the comparison button and you can find similar boats.

Thank you for this seakeeping information. Makes a lot of sense.
Also, those waters are nasty, but I'd you really want to see nasty weather...actually you seem to be based in Florida. You've seen hurricanes. Also, you're a sea captain, you know this already.
I was going to recommend looking at the storms that happen over here in Ireland. They can get pretty intense out at sea, during the winter:
    th-cam.com/video/IlW6adCn9f0/w-d-xo.html
The link is to a boat factory here in Ireland, doing sea trials during really nasty waves.
They make boats that can be completely overturned and the self right themselves because of their low centre of gravity and external water tightness.
Like the 54 knot, 23 meter, Thunder Child 2, or the military fast boat the barracuda, which might be seeing action soon because besides the US military, they also sold them to the Polish navy, and presumably others. With things heating up here in Europe militarily, we'll see if Safehavenmarine.com gets to play a part in the war.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Ukrainians have Barracuda's also.
