Універсальний 257-метровий десантний корабель класу Wasp ВМС США "USS Kearsarge" прибув до порту Гельсінкі минулого тижня і став головною пам'яткою міста на кілька днів. У місті через охочих подивитися на корабель ближче утворилися багатокілометрові пробки.

Гігантське судно, на якому розмістилися близько 2000 осіб, 1500 з яких це особовий склад американської морської піхоти, морські штурмовики Сі-Харрієр, десантні конвертоплани Оспрі, морські вертольоти Сі-Кобра, Сі-Хок, Кінг Сталіон, виглядало велетенським навіть на тлі Великі морські круїзні лайнери.
Простоявши в Гельсінкі кілька днів, авіаносець вирушив до берегів фінського міста Ханку для участі в навчаннях.
