    You're Basically here because you've found a Mesa Nomad Used somewhere for a good price! I'll tell you right away: DO IT! It's a great amp with different Mid Controls. Not exactly a Dual Rectifier... but a great amp! Cheers -Ryan

      You won't regret it! It's an awesome little amp! I moved around some videos... best I could do was Thursday. I do also have a Mesa Nomad 55 Metal video that might get you a bit pumped for the amp! But yeah the 55 version is awesome... they also have a 100 version with an EQ. Cheers -Ryan

      You’re a mind reader. I’m considering selling my Marshall JCM2000 TSL601 for a used Nomad 55 2x12 combo amp.

    I'VE BEEN SINGING THE NOMAD 55 PRAISES FOR YEEEEEEEAAAAAARRRRRRRRSSSSSSS!
    ...and no one would believe me!
    I engineer/produce/own a recording studio and before that played in some bands.
    Sound guys loved my tone live because it was controlled in the low end and super interesting and in-it's-own-space in the mids. My bands always sounded good even when our music was...sometimes under-appreciated by an audience. ;)
    People who see the amp in my studio often pass it up because it's not a Mark V or Triple Crown or Rectifier. In my opinion, keeping an artist happy and enthusiastic is important so we'll often move on to a different amp. But I often reamp through it and blend with the original amp to get a tone that ACTUALLY WORKS in a mix.
    I've been primarily only mixing lately (boo Covid) but I can't wait to get people back into the studio to use the Nomad with an EQ pedal in the effects loop. I was thinking it would be a great spot to push some of the lows that are shaved out by the preamp section.
    Quick question: are you on 6L6 or EL34 tubes? Have you tried the other?
    That's all. Great video!

    I’ve recently found that this amps second channel has some killer Stoner/Doom tones in it. Crank the bass and the mids, set treble to taste and run the gain up to about 2:00 on the vintage setting and get the power section cooking, boost with something like a more vintage boost (I’m using a BAT Black Forest, a colorsound overdriver style OD). It’s total Sleep/Matt Pike tones.

    For me, it's the Nomad all the way. I owned the 55W Combo 15 years ago and I miss it A LOT. Such an awesome and truly versatile amp, from Fender style cleans to Marshall style crunch and up to an in between Marshall/Mesa high gain tone (but NOT the Rectifier). It also doesn't have the boxy midrange/brittle tone that the ''Mark'' series has, which I personnally can't stand.

    Ahh yep, I'm here because I'm looking at Mesa amps, love Dual Recs but they're expensive, found a couple 2x12 Nomads online pretty affordable. Honestly, I might like that middy Nomad tone a tad more, seriously considering it! Thanks for this video!

    Great playing! Both amps cut through, but the Nomad is a notch better in clarity. The Rectifier bass is bigger because it is less controlled. Nomad bass is tighter.

    Good shoot out. I have a 55 212, and it doesn't get much love. It's thicker in the mids, without as much fizz as the recto. It seem to have a little more definition at 6:12 when you were doing the single note open strings. It's a great classic rock amp, not dropped-d grind though IMO.

    I'm looking for something to provide some midrange to my tone. I'm currently running a Roadking but I was thinking do a Bi-amp of the road king dialed for low and high and a Nomad for midrange. A lot of people seem to be doing that with Rectos and 800's, or Rectos and Mark V's so I was thinking the Nomad would prolly be a good option.

    Wow, thanks for this demo! Great playing by the way! So, just purchased a Single rec, haven't received it yet, and I stumble accross this gem! And, yeah, there cheap everywhere! Tempted to get it too, though I need it like a hole in the head!

    I own a Nomad 55 2x12, Dual Rec Roadster 2x12 and a Dual Rec Solo head 3 ch and this is the first really honest comparison Ive seen between a Nomad and Dual.
    I honestly think the Nomad has a better clean and vintage drive sound than the Dual Rec and much more distinctive single note clarity. The only place the Nomad seems to lose it, is with the heavy palm muted chunk but that can be corrected with a decent pedal in the front. The Nomad just has more of a compressed, tighter sound.

  • @BeckonTheWyrd
    @BeckonTheWyrd ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Love that tone. You're right.. I want to buy a nomad! 🤣 I think it's got great clarity and is really well defined. It sounds a bit thicker than the DR too. It seems perfect to me.

    To me the nomad has a lot drier sound to it, not quiet as much gain. I wonder if anyone has modded them for a little more saturation

    I have the Nomad 45 410 combo, picked it up for $500 and man that thing smokes! I throw a TS in front and boom....thrash heaven. I think those amps get a bad rap because people are honestly too lazy to sit and dial them in. First, they're really mids-heavy. Second, the treble and gain knobs are very sensitive. You just have to be patient and you can get some super sick tones from these amps. What I love about mine is there's a "Extreme" toggle switch the the power tubes that cancels the negative feedback, that setting is only on the 45's though. I think I might replace the stock Jensens with the Celestion G10s which are basically the 10" version of the V30.

    With your expertise with mesa boogie products, would you purchase a mini rectifier lunchbox head or mesa boogie nomad if you had to choose? I’m stuck between the 2 and I’ve only ever played a mini rec. your reply would be much appreciated. Thanks have a good day.

    I've not seen any nomads for sale, but the notification of a new vid did pop up. Perhaps I'm biased because I owned a atri Rec, But I prefer the Dual, sounds less harsh and beefier.

  • @zAvAvAz

    For some reason i cannot use rectifier series except the single, its too much boosted speaker information for me, and then the cones are saturating in cone break up and start singing. i can't stand it. Although i can play through a nomad just fine. And a mesa badlander, or even a mesa road king just fine.
    Someone was correct when they said " . . . a dual and a triple rectum frier are the 'worse' versions
    (from the single rectifier model). i just didst not understand at the time what they meant because i love the sounds they make from other people playing them. My amp settings just destroy speakers and i like to use a boost pedal on it. i used to be smart with the ultimate setup. It was a single rectifier with a rack mount full stereo equalizer through the FX loop. It destroyed any other amp. Same with a Framus cobra to me was like a super single rectifier again with the full graph stereo eq through the FX loop. it was unstoppable. Somewhere lost now in the quest for tone trying different and new things. It is absolutely irreplaceable. Hope this helps anyone looking to get a mesa boogie, hint hint = get the single rectifier and EQ! You shall not be sorry. It shall have the capability of all of their amps except the duals and triples and that is exactly what you do not want much of = the so easily attained ability to wash out speakers indefinitely. 😆

      Hard to say. I always change my setting to suit at what I’m feeling at the time. And pretty sure my ears have repaired themselves over the last few years to where I don’t use as much high end. Haha. Cheers -Ryan

    Would you trade an LTD EC-1000 for a Mesa Nomad 45?

    • @Crypticmaskguitar
      @Crypticmaskguitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's really up to you, man. The Nomad series is pretty great, however, they can be a bit polarizing and off-putting if you aren't prepared for the way that the mids work on the amp. I love my Nomad. If the EC-1000 isn't a guitar that you use too much then it probably wouldn't hurt much. Best of luck. Cheers -Ryan

    You posted this quite a while ago, so I don't really expect a response but;
    Are the pickups in your LP Traditional stock? I know you're using a TS with high-gain amps, but it still sounds like alot of output for your run-of-the-mill LP.
    The finish on your LP Traditional is gorgeous btw👍

    crazy to hear a Les Paul custom actually in tune everywhere, that earvana nut should be factory standard on every guitar. no idea how tf Ernie ball managed to *patent* compensated tuning for an instrument, it's literally adjustable saddles tech, but nobody else can use it for the nut!?!? total bs
