Ok. I just have to comment. The editing, the choice of scenes, he music - all of it is utterly perfect for this video. No matter how many times I watch it, as soon as Ragnar speaks the last words, "with my peasant hands", I shed tears. I didn't cry during the actual scene in the series so that says a lot about what great editing skills (like yours) can do! This is art, great great job!!!

"With my peasant hands" - Ragnar would have always been a peasant for her. Even as a king he would have been the same humble farmer. If just for her. He never would have forgotten his roots. I think her kindness towards Aethelstan was what drove Ragnar to love him so deeply.

For a father who has lost a daughter this is a very real scene.

Travis Fimmel simply outclassed his skills in this whole series. He left so many undeniably beautiful scenes with his legendary acting skills. Ever since I've watched this series, my mind still sometimes gets baffled by the way he concluded those shots. Amazing actor and an amazing role played by him. To be remembered by thousands for a long long time to come.

'Amen' (in Athelstan's and Ragnar's and Alfred' voices). And at the same time, to think that Michael Hirst wrote all eighty-nine bloody episodes himself. Eighty-nine forty-five minute episodes. It's insane to me. To do that but still be chill enough to collaborate with Travis and just let him cut your lines to act in silence instead? I can't for the life of me understand why this isn't talked about as like the greatest achievement in long-form storytelling ever.

The more I rewatch, the more I wonder the same thing. She and Ubbe would have been inseparable, 'what joy' she would have brought Hvitserk and peace she would have lent Ivar. And imagining a grown-up Gyda with a grown-up Bjorn...too much. Her presence haunts the whole show. The second-to-last episode kills me when it re-plays the same music that played at Gyda's funeral pyre when Harald walks off to get lost in the fog but then later re-plays the same music from when Lagertha and Gyda were first introduced when Ubbe discovers a certain unnamed Jokester.

  • @jacksonjames2489

You have my undying respect. No one will ever persuade me that Gyda was not the heart of this story. Her death was the moment everything changed, once and for all. She was like the living embodiment of what Thorin says to Bilbo in 'The Hobbit' -- 'If more of us valued food and cheer and good song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.' Awesome work for such an easily-overlooked but such important character. And you did it when there's so little material with her. Well done, well done.

  • @HyPnOsS1933
