I built a stone and wood survival bushcraft shelter in the forest

- In this video, I will build a stone-cum-wood survival bushcraft shelter in the forest. It took me a while to find out the location where I was to build it. The location was great as there were tall trees, running water, plenty of wood for fire, and moreover, stones to build the hut. I set up my camp among the trees and started planning how to carry out my project.
There was a seasonal creek a short distance away. It had brought down boulders due to flash floods and scattered it along its course. However, the boulders were worn smooth and eroded, and it didn't work the way I expected. The soil was alluvial and lacked adhesiveness. Luckily, there were cut out logs not far off; I made my mind to make use of them in the hut to minimize the use of stones. I rolled down as much as I could and erected them in the walls.
The biggest challenge was collecting the stones from the creek and nearby places. It took me several days to collect enough to start building the hut. More work will be done in the next video.

Amazing how all of those perfectly cut giant logs happen to be laying about. Even more amazing is how they were suddenly standing upright in their proper positions!
I would have liked to see how he got that heavy tree trunk upright without help, yet again I got to remember it’s only a movie…
This construction is not of a shelter, not of a hut, not of a cabin or not of a house. It’s more like a fortress in the middle of Black Forest 😊😊😊
In case zombies attack, you would probably get killed by falling rocks 😂😂😂💩
Why so close to the water?
where do people get there land from. Shit people are building shelters right and damn left in this other country’s last time I herd most of the people who own land like this are very rich. Because the government of those countries don’t just let people build what they feel like building
This man is a medieval castle builder.
next episode, trebuchet.
Nice work, I wasn't expecting you to hand dig a foundation, but there you have it. A testament to time! Looking forward to watching this build progress.
To be honest, hand digging the foundation was a bit difficult as the outer layer of the soil was frozen due to frost and freezing temperature. However, I lit a fire close by and carried out the digging eventually. More to come.
Looking forward to seeing more as you progress with this project!@@thinkwilderness
Outstanding! The next video will be eagerly awaited to enjoy your successful build. I do hope you won't abandon this project part way and leave us disappointed.
Beautiful location for peace and a meditative endeavor to strengthen your soul.
Thanks for watching. Sure, I won’t abandon the project in the middle. There were heavy snowfalls which disrupted my work. You will watch that in the next video. I will return as soon as the weather permits and complete it. Yes, the location is serene and one can feel so much close to the nature.
What makes builds like this impressive is that they are solo. Where even a team of two is involved determination and morale is much harder than when solo. So building demands a different mindset. I’m not sure quite what but it is but it certainly requires mental resilience and stamina
The Big Bad Wolf could never blow that down! LOL
Beautiful work! I could see that you rolled those immense logs on your own, but I can't believe that you stood them up vertically by yourself.
Great point! I will try to show in any my future projects how to erect logs vertically in a wall. It’s not that big of a deal.
I think he most likely used a fulcrum and a lever and then just used various rocks etc to place it underneath the lifted side or something like that to raise the log to an upright position, but I would like to see his method for raising it by oneself just to learn. I truly enjoy what I have seen so far, as I am a carpenter of 25 + years and have done many projects both commercial and residential, but I have never had the opportunity to build a log structure, the closest I have come was one restaurant in Texas that was called the Alpine or something like that I don’t remember but I was only able to work on it for a couple days and then we had to start another project out of state which was disappointing. But I like what he has done so far and I will be watch for the next phase 😊
@@thinkwilderness Will the mud between the rocks survive the rain over time? How does that work? Thank you!
So far so good.
Thanks for watching. More to come.
Look like a great start, can't wait for the rest of it.
These Minecraft high rez resource packs are getting insane, this is the most realistic starter base I have ever seen !
👍odlična kuća 🙋
This man is an absolute beast. Great build for sure.
Great video watching from Philippines 🇵🇭 new friend
Thanks and welcome
I want to see the finished product
Wonderful & long lasting natural construction sir that will last for generations to come. Thank you for this video!
Our pleasure!
I like you was raised in the woods and learned these skills as a child and perfected it as I aged.
I used to build small stone huts and shelters when I was just 10-years old. It’s in the blood.
So incredibly entertaining
It's pretty convenient how you left out you using your truck or a friend to stand those logs up on end ;)
Noted, I will show you in any of my future project how to erect these logs in the walls in standing position.
My first time whiching and I really enjoyed it 👍💪💪💪😊
Great to hear! Thanks
Me too, fabulous build so far 🤜🏾👍🫵🏽
@@thinkwilderness I wonder if you can find six trees like three in a row and another three in a row and then build a big cabin like that and actually live in it and then build other cabins around the area so you don’t have to move from one place to another
Great suggestion. Thanks
Very beautiful I know how hard and excruciating it is to make such a sargasse, I enjoyed it was so great 🎉
Yes it was. Thanks so much.

Good job
Thanks
Good house 🏠🏠🏠🏠
nice to see a proper stone build unlike many of the charlatans we see on you tube whose 'structures' are so unstable and would collapse at the slightest touch
Thanks for appreciating and watching. Glad you enjoyed it.
Beautiful
Because you sure do love your woods
That's so great❤❤
Just come across you ,from South Wales,UK.Amazing..wow..
Subbed and following..
Thanks for watching and subscribing to my channel. Stay tuned for more interesting projects to come.
Looks good and it's a lot of hard work but we all know that you had help to lift those logs into standing position 😀
Thanks 👍
Thank you. More interesting projects will be coming out in days to come. Stay tuned.
I reckon it will hold the test of time, reckon Hagrid would be happy to live here😂
Espero la continuacion👍💪😊

Thank you! Cheers!
Are you expecting a nuclear attack ?? Fabulous work.
Thanks for watching.
Awesome so far.
Given all this hard work. Will you use it again.? See minecraft is real. Epic work. It will stand for a long time
You have to be in some amazing shape to do all this my friend. Congratulations
Thank you! Cheers!
I see all the fir/pine needles on the forest floor. He has not cleared the spot where he is making a campfire. In my minds eye I see a conflagration from the fire not being contained in any way 🔥
Deserves way more views wow ‼️❤️🔥
Esse homem é uma máquina! Como pode?
Parabéns pelo video maravilhoso lugar
Nice work...Very inspiring and useful...Always successful friend God Bless You Greeting from Indonesian traditional gold prospecting 🇮🇩💗🌸🌼👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
I like the way you think, built the right way from the beginning to the end. Please keep the video's coming and best wishes to all your future endeavors...
Thank you very much! That’s the plan.
That tough looking sand and those rocks def from somewhere.....
The description says it's a stone-cum-wood structure. So glad he didn't show the collecting of anything except the stones and the wood.
Nice work keep going can't wait to see how it turns out
Thanks! Will do!
Classic starter base in minecraft
I have watched several videos where the person built a stone shelter. This is the first one I've seen, in quite a long time where the "stone work" was done correctly.
99% of all the others were done totally wrong and will fail, if not already. NOT THIS TIME. Great work so far. I would use a bit skinnier logs, that's OK, it is your build, not mine.
I will be looking forward to seeing more. ;-)
Thanks my friend for appreciating it. I tried to build it to the best of my potential and knowledge. I am hopeful I will complete it as soon as possible. More work has to be done.
He built it one rock at a time and it didn’t cost him a dime.
It's amazing you can do that👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nice
This has got to be one of the most amazing and beautiful handmade bushcraft shelters I've ever seen. Very inspiring. Great job!!!! Highly impressive for one man to build just all by himself. I'm currently building something simular and it's taking me a pretty long time. I might be close to being finished in a couple years. LOL
Glad you enjoyed it!
Cool 🆒🆒😎😎😎
Good job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Classic you tube mud pie mortar
In 100 years this structure will still be standing.
a massive and promising start👍 I'm looking forward to the continuation. Take care of your health - boulders and logs look unsafe👷
Thanks. It’s not completed so more work has to be done.
Where in the world is this guy at I haven't seen water that clean since I was a kid
It was a wild forest and everything, including the running water, was unspoiled and untouched. I felt so close to the nature.
It is touched and spoiled now. Good job!
@@anschetaylor9215 just because people go there doesn't mean it's spoiled. It's probably his land to begin with. It's okay to build a shelter on your own land. I mean you're not going to go there so how would you know? At least somebody is doing something productive. What do you do? Brake windows and set other people's businesses on fire? yeah that's good for the environment. I know a guy like you who didn't like a company putting a pipeline in and they went out and bought a bunch of motor oil into a creek to try to blame it on them. The hilarious part is horizontal drill rigs do not use oil to do the drilling. They use drill mud made out of volcanic ash. So when he called the authorities to come look at the damage it was obvious he had done it and you could even see where he spilled it on the banks and there was a drip all the way to his property. Apparently he had changed the oil on his vehicles and even his riding lawn mower just to have a bunch of oil to contaminate the river with. He got a lot of trouble with that. So maybe you should try it and join him
We do in Tasmania
near my city forest have many clean natural well what can drink and perfect clear have, normal at north europe have.
good work is happening, I hope you will upload more
That's the plan! I will complete it as soon as possible.
Excellente
You should remove bark from the trees.
Wow!!!I'd love to see the next epesode pls❤
Working on it.
Very good my friend 🫶✍️
Thank you! Cheers!
👍

Thanks
Will the soil not turn to dust when it dries. Will its cohesive and levelling qualities be retained
Just found your channel. Great show!
Welcome and thanks for watching.
Now that is a structure to feel safe in . Please make a door that is just as substantial.
Thank you for watching and your good suggestion.
First time I've seen someone use a pickaxe for a bushcraft build. Looks very solid. How come you don't fully debark the logs? That would make them last at least a little bit longer.
Hello, have a nice day. Your videos are amazing
Thanks, you too!
So are you just using water and dirt to build your walls ?? Or is there a ratio I'm not seeing ? How has it held up looks really nice

I like the idea of a stone cabin in the woods.
Me too. Thanks for your comment and subscribing to my channel.
Very cool and clearly a lot of work! Looking forward to an update, but - get some rest, that can't be easy on the back.
That’s the plan! Heavy snowfalls cut short my work, but I will return once the snow clears. My priority is now to complete the project as soon as possible.
You would be dead from the elements by the time you finished it, if you were relying on it for survival.
Bravo.grande
For those logs you must have used a chainsaw, I don't think you cut it with that little saw
👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
super, good sort!
Thanks for the visit.
Como você levantou aqueles troncos enormes? Mostra aí!
Nice work. Sort of a 'bushcraft Stonehenge' theme. I wonder if the slightly-angled tops of the logs are aligned in a way that's relevant to the phases of the moon, the vernal equinox, or the Mayan calendar? 😎
Seriously, a lot of good work there. Interesting concept. Curious to see the result.
Good call! Thanks for watching.
Ya ví si hay río 😂🎉
Bien!!
Very interesting. Cant wqit to see the next video and how you make a roof
Me neither, I will post it as soon as possible.
You should do some explanation and your thoughts on the process in the CC/subtitles. Anyways, I really enjoyed the video
Thanks for the idea!
Burn the wood add the ash into the mud mortar when making the walls. Wouldn't that make it stronger?
The work is really nice but i had to watch it in double speed to see the dude not work in slowmo...
It looks to me that the reason the stones are there is because they were washed there.
