Ajahn Brahmavamso joins the Armadale Meditation Group on-line live. Armadale Mediation Group (AMG) is designed to teach you about meditation. The classes generally begin with chanting the Metta Sutta, then receiving mediation instructions and meditating together, followed by asking questions and finally if time remains listening to a Dhamma talk. However, the layout can vary. Due to social distancing regulations, these weekly Tuesday night teachings are happening via Zoom from Bodhinyana Monastery.
Please support the BSWA in making teachings available for free online via Patreon: / buddhistsocietywa
Recorded at Bodhinyana Monastery, Serpentine, Western Australia.

I found your videos a few years ago and every time I feel that I am in a rut and slipping into my mental illness I try to retreat and come back to these videos. They help ground me. Thank you so much 🙏🏼

Thanks to the Buddha for cultivating such wisdom that we might share in its fruits. Thanks to Master Brahm and the Sangha for motivating themselves to share it with the rest of us. I declare my intent to follow the Middle Way as a layperson.

“Remember you don’t meditate to get anything but to get rid of things. We do it, not with desire, but with letting go. If you want anything, you won’t find it.”

A practical way, is to delve into the spectrum of how others live. Non obtrusive investigation, observation and learning.
Within all that variety, diversity and extreme, may you find reasons why your present situation is just fine, Ergo...

This is what should be done,
By one who is skilled in goodness,
And who knows the path of peace,
Let them be able and upright,
Straight forward and gentle in speech,
    Humble and not conceited,
    Contented and easily satisfied,
    Unburdened with duties,
    And frugal in their ways,
    Peaceful and calm,
    And wise and skillful,
Not proud and demanding in nature,
Let them not do the slightest things,
That the wise would later rebuff,
Wishing in gladness and in safety,
    May all beings be happy,
Whatever living beings there may be,
Whether they are weak or strong,
    Omitting none,
    The great or the mighty,
    Medium, short or small,
    The seen and the unseen,
Those living near and far away,
Those born and to be born,
    May all beings be happy,
    Let none deceive another,
Or despise any beings in any state,
Let none through anger or ill will,
    Wish harm upon another,
    Even as a mother,
    Protect with her life,
    Her child, her only child,
    So with a boundless heart,
Should one cherish all living beings,
    Radiating kindness,
    Over the entire world,
    Spreading upwards to the skies,
    And downwards to the depths,
    Upwards and unbounded,
Freed from hatred and ill will,
    Whether standing or walking,
    Seated or lying down,
    Freed from drowsiness,
    One should sustain this recollection,
    That is said to be,
    The sublime abiding,
By not holding to fixed views,
    The pure-hearted one,
    Having clarity of vision,
Being freed from all sense desires,
    Is not born again,
    Into this world.

I can imagine how delicious the breath will feel when I am meditating in fresh mountain air. But where I am, the air is often polluted, and on top of that my neighbours are renovating and chain smokers. How can I feel at peace or content when I meditate in polluted air and observe my breath, and "savour" the (un)deliciousness of the air that enters my nostrils? I feel worried about my health...
