When looking at values for any items in your collection, look at SOLD ebay listings, not ASKING prices amazon or ebay. I can list my Rosario vampire blu ray set for $500, that does not make it worth that amount. On the left handside on ebay check the box that says "sold items" to actually get a proper estimate on what your the items in your collection are selling for.
I got the box set of Area 88 on dvd (the 2004 remake version with cgi). The original is a ova from 1984. Area 88 is 1 of only 2 anime series about a jet fighter pilot.

I don’t have a lot of rare expensive anime because I’m broke (a lot of us are), and I don’t have a lot of patience to look for them. But the most expensive and I’d say reasonably rare anime I have is the steelbook of the cowboy bebop movie. The only reason I got it was because my job gave out gift cards so I didn’t have to use any of my paycheck money.

I got somewhat lucky with finding those Hunter X Hunter sets the first 2 i got pretty cheap on Amazon and i got 2 day shipping so i got those pretty fast as for sets 3 & 4 i spent $125 on set 3 and $234 on set 4 i would say the 3rd and 4th sets are 2nd hardest thing to find that is in my collection 1st place goes to Santa Company seriously trying to the Santa Company Blu-ray is nearly impossible i spent years trying to find but all i found was American Christmas movies and Christmas dolls but i did manage to find one and it wasn't cheap i am really glad i didn't give up on it because the Santa Company Blu-ray came with a nice booklet that has interviews with the Japanese voice cast translated into English and this being my first Japanese Blu-ray makes it more interesting since it has a lot of Kanji the Blu-ray itself is region free and comes with English subtitles i love anime and i love Christmas so a Christmas themed anime yes please
Yeaa, it ended up being in the OVA collection, the way they did it was weird, they played it as an episode it had the same theme opening and closing as one of the OVAs
I loved your Ranma 1/2 box sets so i checked on ebay to see if I could find that particular set it was a bit of a challenge because the are similar box sets from 2008. but I managed to find all 7 box sets and the ova you have i got lucky because they were all decently price from around 13 to at most 28 so i spent 158 that including tax and shipping. However the boxes individually tend to be anywhere between 12 to 20 something if your lucky and high end 30+ to 100+ if anyone reading this is trying to get a complete collection of this set the viz media 2000 to 2003 release make sure you read listing carefully because these were re release around the mid 2000 with similar box set that are only slightly different but the DVD case are skinnier compared to the originals
Yeah there were 2 versions of it. The first ones were the thick dvd case versions, and the second were thin paks. I think my first 2 are the original ones from 2000, and then the rest are the thinpaks. I’m glad you were able to grab your own!

Hell yeah the most rare US releases are from early 2000’s n shit because anime was TAXED. $30 a pop for a dvd with 3 episodes lmao, it was ridiculous

You never know what you find if you go like pawn shop, garage sales these series are still out there waiting to be picked up.
I collect animation cels and I find it pretty ironic that El Hazard the anime is so rare, but its cels can be found pretty cheaply.

Regarding Ranma, the 3rd movie was released in the US as one of the OAVs. It's the phoenix egg one, I believe.
